  abstract     = {{n this contribution a framework for the computer-aided planning and optimisation of functional graded components is presented. The framework is divided into three modules - the "Component Description", the "Expert System" for the synthetisation of several process chains and the "Modelling and Process Chain Optimisation". The Component Description module enhances a standard computer-aided design (CAD) model by a voxel-based representation of the graded properties. The Expert System synthesises process steps stored in the knowledge base to generate several alternative process chains. Each process chain is capable of producing components according to the enhanced CAD model and usually consists of a sequence of heating-, cooling-, and forming processes. The dependencies between the component and the applied manufacturing processes as well as between the processes themselves need to be considered. The Expert System utilises an ontology for that purpose. The ontology represents all dependencies in a structured way and connects the information of the knowledge base via relations. The third module performs the evaluation of the generated process chains. To accomplish this, the parameters of each process are optimised with respect to the component specification, whereby the result of the best parameterisation is used as representative value. Finally, the process chain which is capable of manufacturing a functionally graded component in an optimal way regarding to the property distributions of the component description is presented by means of a dedicated specification technique.}},

[1] gave an optimal O(log n)-approximation forthe problem in the offline setting, unless P = NP [22]. In this paper, wegive randomized algorithms for variants of Set Cover Leasing in the onlinesetting, including a generalization of Online Set Cover with Repetitionspresented by Alon et al.   abstract     = {{<jats:p>The present study aimed to investigate the relationships between macronutrient intake and serum lipid profile in adolescents from eight European cities participating in the HELENA (Healthy Lifestyle in Europe by Nutrition in Adolescence) cross-sectional study (2006–7), and to assess the role of body fat-related variables in these associations. Weight, height, waist circumference, skinfold thicknesses, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C), LDL-cholesterol, TAG, apoB and apoA1 were measured in 454 adolescents (44 % boys) aged 12·5–17·5 years. Macronutrient intake (g/4180 kJ per d (1000 kcal per d)) was assessed using two non-consecutive 24 h dietary recalls. Associations were evaluated by multi-level analysis and adjusted for sex, age, maternal education, centre, sum of four skinfolds, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, sedentary behaviours and diet quality index for adolescents. Carbohydrate intake was inversely associated with HDL-C (β = − 0·189, <jats:italic>P</jats:italic>&lt; 0·001). An inverse association was found between fat intake and TAG (β = − 0·319, <jats:italic>P</jats:italic>&lt; 0·001). Associations between macronutrient intake and serum lipids varied according to adiposity levels, i.e. an inverse association between carbohydrate intake and HDL-C was only observed in those adolescents with a higher waist:height ratio. As serum lipids and excess body fat are the major markers of CVD, these findings should be considered when developing strategies to prevent the risk of CVD among adolescents.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{Joining metals using electrochemical support (ECUF) is a new process for cold pressure welding sheets and parts. This new process is based on an electrochemical in-line surface treatment followed by incremental pilger rolling. The ECUF process intends to cold pressure weld materials under optimized conditions. Oxide layers on metal surfaces are known to inhibit the formation of cold pressure welds. The in-line electrochemical treatment will be used to remove these surface oxides for specific engineering metals and alloys. Hence, an improved pressure weld formation at lower forces and smaller reduction ratios is expected for the electrochemically treated surfaces. Using a more flexible pressure welding process, the number of applications could be greatly improved. First tests with copper were performed to analyse the efficiency of the proposed electrochemical surface treatments. Two electrochemical treatments, the cathodic oxide-reduction and cyclovoltammetric oxide-reduction, were compared with conventional treatments (degreasing and scratch brushing) regarding their influence on the cold pressure welding process of copper. The weld strength of lap welds has been investigated as well as the necessary reduction threshold to form a weld. It was found that the electrochemical oxide reduction resulted in higher weld strength. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDX) indicate that surface oxides were successfully removed by the electrochemical surface treatments.   abstract     = {{We study the existence of approximate pure Nash equilibria in weighted congestion games and develop techniques to obtain approximate potential functions that prove the existence of alpha-approximate pure Nash equilibria and the convergence of alpha-improvement steps. Specifically, we show how to obtain upper bounds for approximation factor alpha for a given class of cost functions. For example for concave cost functions the factor is at most 3/2, for quadratic cost functions it is at most 4/3, and for polynomial cost functions of maximal degree d it is at at most d + 1. For games with two players we obtain tight bounds which are as small as for example 1.054 in the case of quadratic cost functions.}},
