  abstract     = {{<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Electroencephalographic (EEG) research indicates changes in adults’ low frequency bands of frontoparietal brain areas executing different balance tasks with increasing postural demands. However, this issue is unsolved for adolescents when performing the same balance task with increasing difficulty. Therefore, we examined the effects of a progressively increasing balance task difficulty on balance performance and brain activity in adolescents. Thirteen healthy adolescents aged 16–17 year performed tests in bipedal upright stance on a balance board with six progressively increasing levels of task difficulty. Postural sway and cortical activity were recorded simultaneously using a pressure sensitive measuring system and EEG. The power spectrum was analyzed for theta (4–7 Hz) and alpha-2 (10–12 Hz) frequency bands in pre-defined frontal, central, and parietal clusters of electrocortical sources. Repeated measures analysis of variance (rmANOVA) showed a significant main effect of task difficulty for postural sway (<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> &lt; 0.001; <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 6.36). Concomitantly, the power spectrum changed in frontal, bilateral central, and bilateral parietal clusters. RmANOVAs revealed significant main effects of task difficulty for theta band power in the frontal (<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> &lt; 0.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 1.80) and both central clusters (left: <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> &lt; 0.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 1.49; right: <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> &lt; 0.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 1.42) as well as for alpha-2 band power in both parietal clusters (left: <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> &lt; 0.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 1.39; right: <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> &lt; 0.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 1.05) and in the central right cluster (<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = 0.005, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 0.92). Increases in theta band power (frontal, central) and decreases in alpha-2 power (central, parietal) with increasing balance task difficulty may reflect increased attentional processes and/or error monitoring as well as increased sensory information processing due to increasing postural demands. In general, our findings are mostly in agreement with studies conducted in adults. Similar to adult studies, our data with adolescents indicated the involvement of frontoparietal brain areas in the regulation of postural control. In addition, we detected that activity of selected brain areas (e.g., bilateral central) changed with increasing postural demands.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{OpenPGP and S/MIME are two major standards for securing email communication introduced in the early 1990s. Three recent classes of attacks exploit weak cipher modes (EFAIL Malleability Gadgets, or EFAIL-MG), the flexibility of the MIME email structure (EFAIL Direct Exfiltration, or EFAIL-DE), and the Reply action of the email client (REPLY attacks). Although all three break message confidentiality by using standardized email features, only EFAIL-MG has been mitigated in IETF standards with the introduction of AEAD algorithms. So far, no uniform and reliable countermeasures have been adopted by email clients to prevent EFAIL-DE and REPLY attacks. Instead, email clients implement a variety of different ad-hoc countermeasures which are only partially effective, cause interoperability problems, and fragment the secure email ecosystem.We present the first generic countermeasure against both REPLY and EFAIL-DE attacks by checking the decryption context including SMTP headers and MIME structure during decryption. The decryption context is encoded into a string DC and used as Associated Data (AD) in the AEAD encryption. Thus the proposed solution seamlessly extends the EFAIL-MG countermeasures. The decryption context changes whenever an attacker alters the email source code in a critical way, for example, if the attacker changes the MIME structure or adds a new Reply-To header. The proposed solution does not cause any interoperability problems and legacy emails can still be decrypted. We evaluate our approach by implementing the decryption contexts in Thunderbird/Enigmail and by verifying their correct functionality after the email has been transported over all major email providers, including Gmail and iCloud Mail.}},

  abstract     = {{Due to the strong reduction of PV prices, storage plays a dominating role in overall system costs. A 
steeper elevation angle would result in a more balanced seasonal PV yield, at the cost of PV yield reductions during 
summer, but allowing reduced storage capacities. Additionally, the effect of a single-axis tracking system has been 
investigated, generating more electricity during the morning and evening hours, thus reducing daily storage 
requirements. The necessary PV size and storage capacities required for the German energy supply (1,500 TWh after 
electrification of all sectors) via 100% renewable energies and a 50% solar share have been calculated via the 
HOMER Pro software, considering the bridging of periods of "dark lulls“ in winter, using costs of 2030 (Table 1). 
Results: The increase of module elevation angles above the typical 30° leads to a reduction of investment and supply 
costs. The optimum is reached at a cost reduction of -1.5% for an elevation angle at the latitude of the installation 
site. An explanation is that high elevation angles are favorable for clear winter days, but not at all for the critical days 
with diffuse irradiance only, so the battery capacity must be increased. For the same reason, tracking systems do not 
offer any cost advantage (at least for the ones without an option for horizontal positioning during diffuse days).}},

  abstract     = {{Die Themen „Big Data“, „Künstliche Intelligenz und „Data Science“ werden seit einiger Zeit nicht nur in der breiten Öffentlichkeit kontrovers diskutiert, sondern stellen für die Ausbildung in den IT- und IT-nahen Berufen schon heute neue Herausforderungen dar, die in Zukunft durch die gesellschaftliche und technologische Weiterentwicklung hin zu einer Datengesellschaft noch größer werden.
An dieser Stelle stellt sich die Frage, welche Aspekte dieses großen Themenkomplexes für Schule und Ausbildung von Wichtigkeit sind und wie diese Themen sinnstiftend und gewinnbringend in die informatische Ausbildung in verschiedenen Bildungsgängen integriert werden können. Im Rahmen des von uns im Jahr 2017 organisierten Symposiums zum Thema „Data Science“ wurden für die Bildung relevante Aspekte erörtert, wodurch als Kernelemente für den Unterricht Algorithmen der Künstlichen Intelligenz und ihre Anwendung in Industrie und Gesellschaft, Explorationen von Big Data sowie der Umgang mit eigenen Daten in sozialen Netzwerken herausgearbeitet wurden. Ziel ist, aus diesen Themenbereichen sowohl ein umfassendes Curriculum als auch Module für verschiedene Unterrichtsszenarien zu entwickeln und zu erproben. Durch diese Materialien soll es Lehrkräften aus der Informatik, Mathematik oder Technik ermöglicht werden, diese Themen auf Basis des Curriculums und der erprobten Unterrichtskonzepte selbst zu unterrichten.
Hierfür wurde im Rahmen des Projekts ProDaBi (Projekt Data Science und Big Data in der Schule, https://www.prodabi.de), initiiert von der Telekom Stiftung, ein experimenteller Projektkurs entwickelt, den wir mit Schüler:innen der Sekundarstufe II an der Universität Paderborn im Schuljahr 2018/19 durchführten. Dieser Kurs enthält neben einem Modul zur Exploration von Big Data und einem weiteren Modul zum Maschinellen Lernen als Teil der Künstlichen Intelligenz auch eine Projektphase, die es in Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Unternehmen den Schüler:innen
ermöglicht, das Erlernte in ein reales Data Science-Projekt einzubringen. Aus den Erfahrungen dieses Projektkurses sowie den parallel durchgeführten Erprobungen einzelner Bausteine auch mit beruflichen Schulen werden ab dem Schuljahr 2019/20 die hierfür verwendeten Materialien weiterentwickelt und weiteren Kooperationspartnern zur Erprobung zur Verfügung gestellt. Damit wurden zum Ende des Projekts nicht nur vollständige Unterrichtsmaterialien, sondern auch ein umfassendes Curriculum entwickelt.}},

  abstract     = {{In der beruflichen Pflegeausbildung bezeichnen Schulstationen spezielle Lehr-Lernarrangements, in welchen Auszubildende zeitlich beschränkt die volle Verantwortung für die Planung, Organisation und Umsetzung der Patient*innenpflege auf einer Station im regulären Krankenhausbetrieb übernehmen. Obwohl solche Schulstationen seit mehr als 20 Jahren in der Ausbildung eingesetzt werden und ihnen in der Literatur im Vergleich zu den regulären Praxisphasen lernförderliche Eigenschaften zugeschrieben werden, so fehlen bisher empirische Studien, welche die unterstellten Lernpotentiale überprüfen. Der vorliegende Beitrag nimmt sich dieser Forschungslücke an. Vor diesem Hintergrund soll die folgende erkenntnisleitende Forschungsfrage beantwortet werden: Wie unterscheiden sich Schulstationen von regulären Praxisphasen in Hinblick auf lernförderliche Arbeitsplatzmerkmale? Hierzu wurde eine Mixed-Methods-Replikationsstudie durchgeführt, in welcher zwei konsekutiv stattfindende Schulstationen mittels schriftlicher Befragung (insgesamt 36 Auszubildende) sowie anschließender Interviews mit insgesamt 25 Auszubildenden, drei examinierten Pflegefachkräften und drei involvierten Ärzt*innen untersucht wurden. Als zentrales Ergebnis dieser Studie kann festgehalten werden, dass die untersuchte Schulstation im Vergleich zu den regulären Praxisphasen der Auszubildenden für arbeitsplatzgebundene Lernprozesse tatsächlich förderlicher gestaltet ist. Auf Basis der empirischen Befunde werden Bedingungen abgeleitet, die für die Realisation der identifizierten Lernpotentiale erfüllt sein sollten.}},

<jats:p>While observational studies revealed inverse associations between serum vitamin D levels [25(OH)D] and depression, randomized controlled trials (RCT) in children and adolescents are lacking. This RCT examined the effect of an untreated vitamin D deficiency compared to an immediate vitamin D<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> supplementation on depression scores in children and adolescents during standard day and in-patient psychiatric treatment.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Methods</jats:title>
<jats:p>Patients with vitamin D deficiency [25(OH)D ≤ 30 nmol/l] and at least mild depression [Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II) &gt; 13] (<jats:italic>n</jats:italic> = 113) were 1:1 randomized into verum (VG; 2640 IU vitamin D<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>/d) or placebo group (PG) in a double-blind manner. During the intervention period of 28 days, both groups additionally received treatment as usual. BDI-II scores were assessed as primary outcome, DISYPS-II (Diagnostic System for Mental Disorders in Childhood and Adolescence, Self- and Parent Rating) and serum total 25(OH)D were secondary outcomes.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Results</jats:title>
<jats:p>At admission, 49.3% of the screened patients (<jats:italic>n</jats:italic> = 280) had vitamin D deficiency. Although the intervention led to a higher increase of 25(OH)D levels in the VG than in the PG (treatment difference: + 14 ng/ml; 95% CI 4.86–23.77; <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = 0.003), the change in BDI-II scores did not differ (+ 1.3; 95% CI − 2.22 to 4.81; <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = 0.466). In contrast, DISYPS parental ratings revealed pronounced improvements of depressive symptoms in the VG (− 0.68; 95% CI − 1.23 to − 0.13; <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = 0.016).</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Conclusion</jats:title>
<jats:p>Whereas this study failed to show a vitamin D supplementation effect on self-rated depression in adolescent in- or daycare patients, parents reported less depressive symptoms in VG at the end of our study. Future trials should consider clinician-rated depressive symptoms as primary outcome.</jats:p>

<jats:p>Space flight and bed rest (BR) lead to a rapid decline in exercise capacity. Whey protein plus potassium bicarbonate diet-supplementation (NUTR) could attenuate this effect by improving oxidative metabolism. We evaluated the impact of 21-day BR and NUTR on fatigue resistance of plantar flexor muscles (PF) during repeated shortening contractions, and whether any change was related to altered energy metabolism and muscle oxygenation.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Methods</jats:title>
<jats:p>Ten healthy men received a standardized isocaloric diet with (<jats:italic>n</jats:italic> = 5) or without (<jats:italic>n</jats:italic> = 5) NUTR. Eight bouts of 24 concentric plantar flexions (30 s each bout) with 20 s rest between bouts were employed. PF muscle size was assessed by means of peripheral quantitative computed tomography. PF muscle volume was assessed with magnetic resonance imaging. PF muscle force, contraction velocity, power and surface electromyogram signals were recorded during each contraction, as well as energy metabolism (<jats:sup>31</jats:sup>P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy) and oxygenation (near-infrared spectroscopy). Cardiopulmonary parameters were measured during an incremental cycle exercise test.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Results</jats:title>
<jats:p>BR caused 10–15% loss of PF volume that was partly recovered 3 days after re-ambulation, as a consequence of fluid redistribution. Unexpectedly, PF fatigue resistance was not affected by BR or NUTR. BR induced a shift in muscle metabolism toward glycolysis and some signs of impaired muscle oxygen extraction. NUTR did not attenuate the BR-induced-shift in energy metabolism.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Conclusions</jats:title>
<jats:p>Twenty-one days’ BR did not impair PF fatigue resistance, but the shift to glycolytic metabolism and indications of impaired oxygen extraction may be early signs of developing reduced muscle fatigue resistance.</jats:p>
