They serve as a typical model for biradicals in which the exchange (J) and hyperfine interactions compete with the g-difference electronic Zeeman interactions. The magnetic properties underlying the biradical spin Hamiltonian for solution, including J’s, have been determined by multifrequency CW-ESR and H-1 ENDOR spectroscopy and compared with those obtained by quantum chemical calculations. The experimental J values were in good agreement with the quantum chemical calculations. The g-engineered biradicals have been tested as a prototype for AWG (Arbitrary Wave Generator)-based spin manipulation techniques, which enable GRAPE (GRAdient Pulse Engineering) microwave control of spins in molecular magnetic resonance spectroscopy for use in molecular spin quantum computers, demonstrating efficient signal enhancement of specific weakened hyperfine signals. Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) effects of the biradicals for 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance signal enhancement have been examined, giving efficiency factors of 30 for H-1 and 27.8 for C-13 nuclei. The marked DNP results show the feasibility of these biradicals for hyperpolarization.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Journal of Physical Chemistry A","issue":"34","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Sato_Hirao_Timofeev_Krumkacheva_Zaytseva_Rogozhnikova_Tormyshev_Trukhin_Bagryanskaya_Gutmann_et al._2019, title={Trityl-Aryl-Nitroxide-Based Genuinely g-Engineered Biradicals, As Studied by Dynamic Nuclear Polarization, Multifrequency ESR/ENDOR, Arbitrary Wave Generator Pulse Microwave Waveform Spectroscopy, and Quantum Chemical Calculations}, volume={123}, DOI={10.1021/acs.jpca.9b07169}, number={34}, journal={Journal of Physical Chemistry A}, author={Sato, K. and Hirao, R. and Timofeev, I. and Krumkacheva, O. and Zaytseva, E. and Rogozhnikova, O. and Tormyshev, V. The chiral MOF catalyst exhibits an excellent catalytic activity at low temperature (298 K) with an unprecedented syn-(S,S)-product selectivity in an asymmetric aldol addition reaction of cyclohexanone to 4-nitrobenzaldehyde (yield = 95%, ee = 96%). Comparative catalytic studies using a molecular Zr6-cluster model compound indicate the Zr6-moiety to be responsible for this inverse diastereoselectivity compared to well-established L-proline organocatalysis and a mechanism is proposed to explain the Zr6-cluster-mediated syn-selectivity. Masking residual acidic active sites in the cluster of the framework was found to be a key prerequisite to achieve the high enantioselectivity. The high-speed joining process (also called “RIVTAC®” or “Impact”) is an innovative and flexible technology. In this process, a tack having a profiled shank and an ogival shaped tip is pushed into the joining partners with a speed of 20 to 40 m/s without any pre-punching. The plastic and friction work is converted into heat, which causes an abrupt rise of temperature in the joining zone. This improves the flowability of the material which leads to filling the annular grooves existing on the shank of the tack. Simultaneously, a force-fit is created between the sheet metal and the tack. Furthermore, the effects of inertia are used so that the thin-walled structures can be joined without any additional tools (e.g. a die). The joining process causes the deformation of the structure, which must be taken into account with regard to tolerances. The numerical simulation is a powerful tool to predict the deformation and the joinability of a complex structure as well as the mechanical properties of the connection. The paper is about the detailed process- and load-simulation of high-speed joining as well as the required experimental data basis, such as temperature and strain rate dependent flow curves. Furthermore, the friction parameters are very important for the physical consideration of the force-fit connection. Coupled structural-thermal simulations of an axisymmetric 2D-model are performed using explicit and implicit codes."}],"publication":"Procedia Manufacturing","department":[{"_id":"157"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2026-02-27T10:57:16Z","status":"public","volume":29,"user_id":"53912","_id":"64780","publisher":"Elsevier BV","page":"280-287","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Meschut_Hein_Gerkens_2019, title={Numerical simulation of high-speed joining of sheet metal structures}, volume={29}, DOI={10.1016/j.promfg.2019.02.173}, journal={Procedia Manufacturing}, publisher={Elsevier BV}, author={Meschut, Gerson and Hein, David and Gerkens, Michael}, year={2019}, pages={280–287} }","chicago":"Meschut, Gerson, David Hein, and Michael Gerkens. “Numerical Simulation of High-Speed Joining of Sheet Metal Structures.” Procedia Manufacturing 29 (2019): 280–87. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.promfg.2019.02.173.","short":"G. A biosensor called PAMONO (for Plasmon Assisted Microscopy of Nano-sized Objects) represents a viable technology for mobile real-time detection of viruses and virus-like particles. It could be used for fast and reliable diagnoses in hospitals, airports, the open air, or other settings. For analysis of the images provided by the sensor, state-of-the-art methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) can achieve high accuracy. However, such computationally intensive methods may not be suitable on most mobile systems. In this work, we propose nanoparticle classification approaches based on frequency domain analysis, which are less resource-intensive. We observe that on average the classification takes 29 μ s per image for the Fourier features and 17 μ s for the Haar wavelet features. Although the CNN-based method scores 1–2.5 percentage points higher in classification accuracy, it takes 3370 μ s per image on the same platform. With these results, we identify and explore the trade-off between resource efficiency and classification performance for nanoparticle classification of images provided by the PAMONO sensor.
"}],"publication":"Sensors","issue":"19"}]
