Nonetheless, sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are often composed of flammable and volatile carbonate-based liquid electrolytes. Polymer electrolytes have attracted significant attention as safer alternatives. Among polymer electrolytes, single-ion conductive polymer electrolytes (SIPEs) are considered particularly interesting because they can suppress dendrite growth, enabling high-performance (quasi)-solid-state sodium–(metal) batteries. In this work, a self-standing, flexible, quasi-solid-state SIPE is investigated, which is composed of sodium 4-styrene sulfonyl (trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (NaSTFSI), pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-mercaptopropionate) (PETMP) and pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PET4A) blended with poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP). The SIPE membrane, including 50 wt% of molecular transporter, exhibits ionic conductivity of 1.4 × 10−5 S cm−1 and 1.3 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 20 °C and 90 °C, respectively, thermal stability up to 280 °C, electrochemical stability window up to 4.5 V vs. Na/Na+, and Na plating/stripping reversibility in symmetric Na‖Na cells. The manufactured SIPE implemented in Prussian White (PW)‖Na cells enables the delivery of 147 mA h g−1 of PW at 15 mA g−1 with a Coulombic efficiency of over 99%, which is comparable with the PW‖Na cells using liquid carbonate electrolyte, confirming the suitability of the designed SIPE for sodium–(metal) batteries.","lang":"eng"}],"extern":"1","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Wunder_Lai_Šić_Gutmann_Vito_Buntkowsky_Zarrabeitia_Passerini_2024, title={Sodium 4-styrenesulfonyl(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide-based single-ion conducting polymer electrolyte incorporating molecular transporters for quasi-solid-state sodium batteries}, volume={12}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1039/D4TA02329C\">10.1039/D4TA02329C</a>}, number={32}, journal={Journal of Materials Chemistry A}, publisher={The Royal Society of Chemistry}, author={Wunder, Clemens and Lai, Thanh-Loan and Šić, Edina and Gutmann, Torsten and Vito, Eric and Buntkowsky, Gerd and Zarrabeitia, Maider and Passerini, Stefano}, year={2024}, pages={20935–20946} }","ama":"Wunder C, Lai T-L, Šić E, et al. They also often contain blank nodes that do not have a constant identifier over all versions. Linking such blank nodes from different versions is a challenging task. Previous works propose different approaches to create signatures for all blank nodes based on named nodes in their neighborhood to match blank nodes with similar signatures. However, these works struggle to find a good mapping when the difference between the KGs’ versions grows too large. In this work, we propose Blink, an embedding-based approach for blank node linking. Blink merges two KGs’ versions and embeds the merged graph into a latent vector space based on translational embeddings and subsequently matches the closest pairs of blank nodes from different graphs. We evaluate our approach using real-world datasets against state-of-the-art approaches by computing the blank node matching for isomorphic graphs and graphs that contain triple changes (i.e., added or removed triples). The results indicate that Blink achieves perfect accuracy for isomorphic graphs. For graph versions that contain changes, such as having up to 20% of triples removed in one version, Blink still produces a mapping with an Optimal Mapping Deviation Ratio of under 1%. These results show that Blink leads to a better linking of KGs over different versions and similar graphs adhering to the linked data guidelines.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Lecture Notes in Computer Science","type":"book_chapter","department":[{"_id":"574"}],"date_created":"2025-09-11T10:19:47Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-09-11T10:34:02Z","year":"2024","title":"Blink: Blank Node Matching Using Embeddings","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0302-9743","1611-3349"],"isbn":["9783031778438","9783031778445"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Becker, Alexander","first_name":"Alexander","last_name":"Becker"},{"id":"67234","full_name":"Sherif, Mohamed","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9927-2203","first_name":"Mohamed","last_name":"Sherif"},{"id":"65716","first_name":"Axel-Cyrille","last_name":"Ngonga Ngomo","full_name":"Ngonga Ngomo, Axel-Cyrille"}],"doi":"10.1007/978-3-031-77844-5_12","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://papers.dice-research.org/2024/ISWC_BLINK/public.pdf"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"project":[{"_id":"285","name":"SAIL - Nachhaltiger Lebenszyklus von intelligenten soziotechnischen Systemen"}],"citation":{"short":"A. Consequently, a combined approach from the areas of design, material science, and manufacturing is mandatory, in order to meet the requirements. Reducing the number of parts, using lightweight materials and applying hybrid components with a multimaterial mix are possible solutions. Nevertheless, conventional joining operations like welding or riveting are reaching their limits in terms of material utilization, load-bearing capacity as well as versatility of the process. Thus, innovative and versatile joining by forming operations and process combinations are focus of current research. In this context, the innovative process of orbital forming had been investigated as a joining by forming operation to manufacture load-adapted hybrid functional components. By tilting of one tool component during the process, a radial material flow is generated, allowing the crimping of the two joining partners. Nevertheless, the load-bearing capacity in axial direction could be identified as limiting factor for a possible application. Therefore, the aim of this investigation is the development of a fundamental process understanding on the influence of a novel geometrical adaption of the joint on the resulting load bearing capacity. The influence of varying geometrical proportions of the joint on the quality is evaluated, considering the form filling, the geometrical properties of the components as well as the maximum transmittable axial load. As joining partners, the dual-phase steel DP600 and the aluminum alloy EN AW-5754 with a thickness of 2.0 mm are used. Presently, rotary draw bending (RDB) is one of the most commonly used cold-forming industrial process for bending metal tubes. Pressure die is a fundamental forming tool in RDB processes, and it is conventionally made by various grades of comparatively expensive alloy steels. This research presents a novel design of a pressure die which can be 3D printed by using inexpensive polymeric filaments. In this research paper, the 3D-printed pressure die is named as “FFF-pressure die.” The material used to fabricate the FFF-pressure die is a thermoplastic polymer known as “ecoPLA.” The mechanical properties of ecoPLA are studied in relation to the process conditions of a RDB process. Firstly, an initial feasibility of using the FFF-pressure die in a RDB process is obtained by conducting a quick static stress analysis with actual process conditions. After initial feasibility, a complete RDB process is developed and simulated with actual process conditions and material properties. The FFF-pressure die is then practically fabricated by FFF 3D printer and experimentally tested on an industrial RDB machine. The results of practical experiments are compared with the simulation results. In order to make a comparison of the FFF-pressure die with the conventional metal pressure die, the simulation and practical process is also conducted with the conventional metal pressure die. A performance and cost comparison is made between the polymeric FFF-pressure die and the conventional metal pressure die. Von Mises stresses, contact forces, failure risk, and elastic deformations are analyzed. The advantages and limitations of using the FFF-pressure die in a RDB process are discussed in the end. This research intends to widen the avenue of using cost-effective and lightweight forming tools in metal forming industries.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology","issue":"3-4","doi":"10.1007/s00170-024-14221-3","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2025-10-15T13:08:16Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 134","year":"2024","title":"Additive manufacturing of polymeric pressure die for rotary draw bending process","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0268-3768","1433-3015"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Kaleem","first_name":"Muhammad Ali","full_name":"Kaleem, Muhammad Ali"},{"full_name":"Steinheimer, Rainer","last_name":"Steinheimer","first_name":"Rainer"},{"full_name":"Frohn-Sörensen, Peter","first_name":"Peter","last_name":"Frohn-Sörensen"},{"last_name":"Gabsa","first_name":"Steffen","full_name":"Gabsa, Steffen","id":"106786"},{"full_name":"Engel, Bernd","last_name":"Engel","first_name":"Bernd"}],"citation":{"short":"M.A. Kaleem, R. This was done by accelerating the core operation of the process with an efficient FPGA design that outperforms an optimized 64-core CPU reference by 95x. The FPGA execution was parallelized on the Noctua 2 supercomputer at Paderborn University. The resulting value for D(9) is 286386577668298411128469151667598498812366. This value can be verified in two steps. We have made the data file containing the 490 M results available, each of which can be verified separately on CPU, and the whole file sums to our proposed value. The paper explains the mathematical approach in the first part, before putting the focus on a deep dive into the FPGA accelerator implementation followed by a performance analysis. The FPGA implementation was done in Register-Transfer Level using a dual-clock architecture and shows how we achieved an impressive FMax of 450 MHz on the targeted Stratix 10 GX 2,800 FPGAs. The total compute time used was 47,000 FPGA hours.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"3","publication":"ACM Transactions on Reconfigurable Technology and Systems","doi":"10.1145/3674147","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-11-04T09:53:26Z","intvolume":" 17","title":"A Computation of the Ninth Dedekind Number Using FPGA Supercomputing","year":"2024","author":[{"last_name":"Van Hirtum","first_name":"Lennart","full_name":"Van Hirtum, Lennart","id":"100210"},{"first_name":"Patrick","last_name":"De Causmaecker","full_name":"De Causmaecker, Patrick"},{"full_name":"Goemaere, Jens","last_name":"Goemaere","first_name":"Jens"},{"id":"3145","last_name":"Kenter","first_name":"Tobias","full_name":"Kenter, Tobias"},{"last_name":"Riebler","first_name":"Heinrich","full_name":"Riebler, Heinrich","id":"8961"},{"id":"24135","first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Lass","orcid":"0000-0002-5708-7632","full_name":"Lass, Michael"},{"id":"16153","full_name":"Plessl, Christian","first_name":"Christian","orcid":"0000-0001-5728-9982","last_name":"Plessl"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1936-7406","1936-7414"]}},{"year":"2024","title":"Context-specific adaptation for head fakes in basketball: a study on player-specific fake-frequency schedules","author":[{"first_name":"Iris","last_name":"Güldenpenning","orcid":"0000-0003-0549-5543","full_name":"Güldenpenning, Iris","id":"52931"},{"id":"52000","first_name":"Nils Tobias","orcid":"0000-0002-0236-7282","last_name":"Böer","full_name":"Böer, Nils Tobias"},{"first_name":"Wilfried","last_name":"Kunde","full_name":"Kunde, Wilfried"},{"last_name":"Giesen","first_name":"Carina G.","full_name":"Giesen, Carina G."},{"full_name":"Rothermund, Klaus","last_name":"Rothermund","first_name":"Klaus"},{"full_name":"Weigelt, Matthias","first_name":"Matthias","last_name":"Weigelt","id":"36388"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-11-06T13:36:26Z","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 88","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00426-024-01977-2","open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1007/s00426-024-01977-2","publication":"Psychological Research","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"In basketball, an attacking player often plays a pass to one side while looking to the other side. This head fake provokes a conflict in the observing opponent, as the processing of the head orientation interferes with the processing of the pass direction. Accordingly, responses to passes with head fakes are slower and result in more errors than responses to passes without head fakes (head-fake effect). The head-fake effect and structurally similar interference effects (e.g., Stroop effect) are modulated by the frequency of conflicting trials. Previous studies mostly applied a block-wise manipulation of proportion congruency. However, in basketball (and also in other team sports), where different individual opponents can be encountered, it might be important to take the individual frequency (e.g., 20% vs. 80%) of these opponents into account. Therefore, the present study investigates the possibility to quickly (i.e., on a trial-by-trial basis) reconfigure the response behavior to different proportions of incongruent trials, which are contingent on different basketball players. Results point out that participants indeed adapted to the fake-frequency of different basketball players, which could be the result of strategic adaptation processes. Multi-level analyses, however, indicate that a substantial portion of the player-specific adaptation to fake frequencies is accounted by episodic retrieval processes, suggesting that item-specific proportion congruency effects can be explained in terms of stimulus-response binding and retrieval: The head orientation (e.g., to the right) of a current stimulus retrieves the last episode with the same head orientation including the response that was part of this last episode. Thus, from a theoretical perspective, an attacking player would provoke the strongest detrimental effect on an opponent if s/he repeats the same head movement but changes the direction of the pass. Whether it is at all possible to strategically apply this recommendation in practice needs still to be answered."}],"file":[{"file_name":"Güldenpenning et al. 2024.pdf","access_level":"open_access","file_size":1022453,"relation":"main_file","date_updated":"2024-06-11T08:38:20Z","file_id":"54691","content_type":"application/pdf","creator":"iguelden","date_created":"2024-06-11T08:38:20Z"}],"date_created":"2024-06-11T08:38:25Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"35"},{"_id":"17"},{"_id":"266"}],"status":"public","has_accepted_license":"1","page":"1702-1711","_id":"54690","user_id":"52000","ddc":["150"],"volume":88,"file_date_updated":"2024-06-11T08:38:20Z","citation":{"chicago":"Güldenpenning, Iris, Nils Tobias Böer, Wilfried Kunde, Carina G. While semiconducting metal oxides such as In2O3 can monitor gas concentrations down to the ppm range, they often exhibit cross-sensitivity to other gases like H2O. In this study, we investigated whether cyclic optical illumination of a gas-sensitive In2O3 layer creates identifiable changes in a gas sensor´s electronic resistance that can be linked to H2 and H2O concentrations via machine learning. We exposed nanostructured In2O3 with a large surface area of 95 m2 g-1 to H2 concentrations (0-800 ppm) and relative humidity (0-70%) under cyclic activation utilizing blue light. The sensors were tested for 20 classes of gas combinations. A support vector machine achieved classification rates up to 92.0%, with reliable reproducibility (88.2 ± 2.7%) across five individual sensors using 10-fold cross-validation. Our findings suggest that cyclic optical activation can be used as a tool to classify H2 and H2O concentrations.","lang":"eng"}]},{"status":"public","user_id":"54556","volume":11,"_id":"62873","publisher":"Wiley","citation":{"ieee":"J. In the field of polymeric gas separation membranes, a beneficial impact on stability and membrane performance is known for several polymers with differing functional groups. This study for the first time investigates VPI of trimethylaluminum (TMA) into poly(1‐trimethylsilyl‐1‐propyne) (PTMSP), featuring a carbon–carbon double bond as functional group. Saturation of the precursor inside the polymer is already attained after 60 s infiltration time leading to significant densification of the material. Depth profiling proves accumulation of aluminum in the polymer itself, but a significantly increased accumulation is visible in the gradient layer between polymer and SiO2 substrate. A reaction pathway is proposed and supplemented by density‐functional theory (DFT) calculations. Infrared spectra derived from both experiments and simulation support the presented reaction pathway. In terms of permeance, a favorable impact on selectivity is observed for infiltration times up to 1 s. Longer infiltration times yield greatly reduced permeance values close or even below the detection limit of the measurement device. However, the realization of efficient solar‐driven artificial leaf structures requires integrated specialized materials such as semiconductor absorbers, catalysts, interfacial passivation, and contact layers. To date, no competitive system has emerged due to a lack of scientific understanding, knowledge‐based design rules, and scalable engineering strategies. Herein, competitive artificial leaf devices for water splitting, focusing on multiabsorber structures to achieve solar‐to‐hydrogen conversion efficiencies exceeding 15%, are discussed. A key challenge is integrating photovoltaic and electrochemical functionalities in a single device. Additionally, optimal electrocatalysts for intermittent operation at photocurrent densities of 10–20 mA cm−2 must be immobilized on the absorbers with specifically designed interfacial passivation and contact layers, so‐called buried junctions. This minimizes voltage and current losses and prevents corrosive side reactions. Key challenges include understanding elementary steps, identifying suitable materials, and developing synthesis and processing techniques for all integrated components. This is crucial for efficient, robust, and scalable devices. Especially for 2D materials, the atomic electric fields influence the optoelectronic properties. In this study, the atomic‐scale electric field and charge density distribution of WSe2 bi‐ and trilayers are revealed using an emerging microscopy technique, differential phase contrast (DPC) imaging in scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). For pristine material, a higher positive charge density located at the selenium atomic columns compared to the tungsten atomic columns is obtained and tentatively explained by a coherent scattering effect. Furthermore, the change in the electric field distribution induced by a missing selenium atomic column is investigated. A characteristic electric field distribution in the vicinity of the defect with locally reduced magnitudes compared to the pristine lattice is observed. This effect is accompanied by a considerable inward relaxation of the surrounding lattice, which according to first principles DFT calculation is fully compatible with a missing column of Se atoms.
