For resonant driving, phonons dampen the Rabi oscillations resulting in reduced preparation fidelities. The phonon spectral density, which quantifies the strength of the carrier-phonon interaction, is non-monotonous as a function of energy. As one of the most prominent consequences, this leads to the reappearance of Rabi rotations for increasing pulse power, which was theoretically predicted in Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 227403 (2007). In model-dimension certification tasks, we show that the relative-belief procedure typically chooses Hilbert spaces that are never smaller in dimension than those selected from optimizing a broad class of information criteria, including Akaike's criterion. As a concrete and focused exposition of this powerful evidence-based technique, we apply the relative-belief procedure to an important application: . In particular, just by comparing prior and posterior probabilities based on data, we demonstrate its capability of tracking multiphoton emissions using (realistically lossy) single-photon detectors in order to assess the actual quality of photon sources without making assumptions, thereby reliably safeguarding source integrity for general quantum-information and communication tasks with Bayesian reasoning. Finally, we discuss how relative belief can be exploited to carry out parametric model certification and estimate the total dimension of the quantum state for the combined (measured) physical and interacting external systems described by the Tavis-Cummings model.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n \r\n \r\n Published by the American Physical Society\r\n 2024\r\n \r\n \r\n
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Physical Review A","issue":"1","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"623"}],"date_created":"2025-12-18T16:12:21Z"},{"doi":"10.1103/physrevlett.133.050204","article_number":"050204","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2025-12-18T16:13:14Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 133","year":"2024","title":"Evidence-Based Certification of Quantum Dimensions","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0031-9007","1079-7114"]},"author":[{"first_name":"Y. S.","last_name":"Teo","full_name":"Teo, Y. S."},{"first_name":"S. U.","last_name":"Shringarpure","full_name":"Shringarpure, S. U."},{"first_name":"H.","last_name":"Jeong","full_name":"Jeong, H."},{"full_name":"Prasannan, Nidhin","first_name":"Nidhin","last_name":"Prasannan","id":"71403"},{"id":"27150","full_name":"Brecht, Benjamin","orcid":"0000-0003-4140-0556 ","first_name":"Benjamin","last_name":"Brecht"},{"id":"26263","first_name":"Christine","last_name":"Silberhorn","full_name":"Silberhorn, Christine"},{"last_name":"Evans","first_name":"M.","full_name":"Evans, M."},{"last_name":"Mogilevtsev","first_name":"D.","full_name":"Mogilevtsev, D."},{"full_name":"Sánchez-Soto, L. L.","first_name":"L. L.","last_name":"Sánchez-Soto"}],"type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"623"}],"date_created":"2025-12-18T16:13:00Z","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
Identifying a reasonably small Hilbert space that completely describes an unknown quantum state is crucial for efficient quantum information processing. We introduce a general dimension-certification protocol for both discrete and continuous variables that is fully evidence based, relying solely on the experimental data collected and no other unjustified assumptions whatsoever. Using the Bayesian concept of relative belief, we take the effective dimension of the state as the smallest one such that the posterior probability is larger than the prior, as dictated by the data. The posterior probabilities associated with the relative-belief ratios measure the strength of the evidence provide by these ratios so that we can assess whether there is weak or strong evidence in favor or against a particular dimension. Using experimental data from spectral-temporal and polarimetry measurements, we demonstrate how to correctly assign Bayesian plausible error bars for the obtained effective dimensions. materials can reduce the weight of vehicles and the emissions generated during operation. However, the usage of different materials requires innovative joining technologies with increased versatility. In this investigation, the focus is on describing and characterising the failure behaviour of connections manufactured by an innovative thermomechanical joining process with adaptable auxiliary joining elements in single-lap tensile-shear tests. In order to analyse the failure development in detail, the specimens are investigated using in-situ computed tomography (in-situ CT). Here, the tensile-shear test is interrupted at points of interest and CT scans are conducted under load. In addition, the interrupted in-situ testing procedure is validated by comparing the loading behaviour with conventional continuous tensile-shear tests. The results of the in-situ investigations of joints with varying material combinations clearly describe the cause of failure, allowing conclusions towards an improved joint design.
","lang":"eng"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1177/14644207241232233","year":"2024","title":"In-situ computed tomography analysis of the failure mechanisms of thermomechanically manufactured joints with auxiliary joining element","author":[{"last_name":"Borgert","first_name":"Thomas","full_name":"Borgert, Thomas","id":"83141"},{"first_name":"D","last_name":"Köhler","full_name":"Köhler, D"},{"full_name":"Wiens, Eugen","first_name":"Eugen","last_name":"Wiens","id":"7888"},{"last_name":"Kupfer","first_name":"R","full_name":"Kupfer, R"},{"full_name":"Troschitz, J","last_name":"Troschitz","first_name":"J"},{"first_name":"Werner","last_name":"Homberg","full_name":"Homberg, Werner","id":"233"},{"last_name":"Gude","first_name":"M","full_name":"Gude, M"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1464-4207","2041-3076"]},"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-12-22T10:40:28Z","intvolume":" 238","citation":{"short":"T. Herein, we study the interaction of water with nanoporous C1N1 materials to explain their very low specific capacitance in aqueous electrolytes despite their high surface area. Water was used to probe chemical environments, provided by pores of different sizes, in 1H MAS NMR experiments. We observe that regardless of their high hydrophilicity, only a negligible portion of water can enter the nanopores of C1N1, in contrast to a reference pure carbon material with a similar pore structure. The common paradigm that water easily enters hydrophilic pores does not apply to C1N1 nanopores below a few nanometers. However, conventional activation methods using potassium and sodium hydroxides or carbonates suffer from low yields (&lt;20%) and poor control over porosity and composition especially when high SSAs are targeted (&gt;2000 m2 g−1) because nanopores are typically created by etching. Herein, a non‐etching activation strategy is demonstrated using cesium salts of low‐cost carboxylic acids as the sole precursor in producing porous carbons with yields of up to 25% and SSAs reaching 3008 m2 g−1. The pore size and oxygen content can be adjusted by tuning the synthesis temperature or changing the molecular precursor. Mechanistic investigation unravels the non‐classical role of cesium as an activating agent. The cesium compounds that form in situ, including carbonates, oxides, and metallic cesium, have extremely low work function enabling electron injection into organic/carbonaceous framework, promoting condensation, and intercalation of cesium ions into graphitic stacks forming slit pores. The resulting porous carbons deliver a high capacity of 252 mAh g−1 (567 F g−1) and durability of 100 000 cycles as cathodes of Zn‐ion capacitors, showing their potential for electrochemical energy storage.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Advanced Materials","issue":"18","type":"journal_article","date_created":"2025-11-27T13:15:45Z","intvolume":" 36","date_updated":"2026-01-08T13:09:11Z","publication_status":"published","author":[{"full_name":"Li, Jiaxin","last_name":"Li","first_name":"Jiaxin"},{"last_name":"Xu","first_name":"Yaolin","full_name":"Xu, Yaolin"},{"full_name":"Li, Pengzhou","first_name":"Pengzhou","last_name":"Li"},{"full_name":"Völkel, Antje","last_name":"Völkel","first_name":"Antje"},{"full_name":"Saldaña, Fernando Igoa","last_name":"Saldaña","first_name":"Fernando Igoa"},{"full_name":"Antonietti, Markus","first_name":"Markus","last_name":"Antonietti"},{"full_name":"Lopez Salas, Nieves","last_name":"Lopez Salas","first_name":"Nieves"},{"first_name":"Mateusz","last_name":"Odziomek","full_name":"Odziomek, Mateusz"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0935-9648","1521-4095"]},"title":"Beyond Conventional Carbon Activation: Creating Porosity without Etching Using Cesium Effect","year":"2024","doi":"10.1002/adma.202311655","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"2311655"},{"type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"241"},{"_id":"153"},{"_id":"156"}],"date_created":"2024-11-18T10:06:17Z","abstract":[{"text":"Manufacturing processes benefit from property control enabling reproducibility, application oriented outcomes, and efficient part production. In reverse flow forming, state of the art practices focus primarily on geometry control, neglecting property control. Given the intricacies of the process involving the interaction of tool and machine behavior, process parameters, properties of semi finished products and temperatures, incorporating process control becomes an imperative for producing components with predefined properties. The property controlled within this reverse flow forming process is the local α’ martensite content. Therefore, process strategies to actively influence the α’ martensite content must be implemented. In this study seamless AISI 304L steel tubes are used, where α’ martensite formation is strain and/or temperature induced through phase transformation within the process. This paper presents innovative process strategies, methods, and specially developed mechanical and thermal actuator systems to locally increase or suppress the α’ martensite content. The use and implementation of these approaches and tools allows the creation of unique optically invisible microstructure profiles containing 3D gradings, implying a radial grading of α’ martensite. The locally implemented α’ martensite, forming these 3D gradings, offers potential applications for functional or sensory purposes. This paper extends beyond theoretical concepts, providing tangible component outcomes.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Materials Research Proceedings","doi":"10.21741/9781644903254-76","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2024-11-18T10:42:55Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 44","title":"α’-martensite grading techniques in reverse flow forming of AISI 304L","year":"2024","author":[{"full_name":"Arian, Bahman","first_name":"Bahman","last_name":"Arian","id":"36287"},{"id":"233","last_name":"Homberg","first_name":"Werner","full_name":"Homberg, Werner"},{"last_name":"Kersting","first_name":"Lukas","full_name":"Kersting, Lukas"},{"full_name":"Trächtler, Ansgar","last_name":"Trächtler","first_name":"Ansgar","id":"552"},{"first_name":"Julian","last_name":"Rozo Vasquez","full_name":"Rozo Vasquez, Julian"},{"full_name":"Walther, Frank","last_name":"Walther","first_name":"Frank"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2474-395X"]},"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"short":"B. The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires vendors to faithfully disclose which data their apps collect. This task is complicated because many apps use third-party code for which the same information is not readily available. Hence we ask: how accurately do current Android apps fulfill these requirements?\r\nIn this work, we first expose a multi-layered definition of privacy-related data to correctly report data collection in Android apps. We further create a dataset of privacy-sensitive data classes that may be used as input by an Android app. This dataset takes into account data collected both through the user interface and system APIs.\r\nWe manually examine the data safety sections of 70 Android apps to observe how data collection is reported, identifying instances of over- and under-reporting. Additionally, we develop a prototype to statically extract and label privacy-related data collected via app source code, user interfaces, and permissions. Comparing the prototype's results with the data safety sections of 20 apps reveals reporting discrepancies. Using the results from two Messaging and Social Media apps (Signal and Instagram), we discuss how app developers under-report and over-report data collection, respectively, and identify inaccurately reported data categories.\r\nOur results show that app developers struggle to accurately report data collection, either due to Google's abstract definition of collected data or insufficient existing tool support. Jahrhundert abdecken."}],"citation":{"ieee":"R. Becker and M. Lauert, Eds., <i>Politiken der Unhöflichkeit. Gelehrtenstreit vom 17. bis zum 20. Jahrhundert. Geschenkschrift für Johannes Süßmann</i>. These representations are particularly relevant for studying integral structures and special values of cohomological automorphic representations, as well as corresponding period relations. We introduce and investigate related concepts such as locally algebraic $(\\lieg,K)$-modules and cohomological types of automorphic representations. Applying the recently developed theory of tdos and twisted $\\mathcal D$-modules, we establish the existence of canonical global $1/N$-integral structures on spaces of automorphic cusp forms. As an application, we define canonical periods attached to regular algebraic automorphic representations, potentially related to the action of Venkatesh's derived Hecke algebra on cuspidal cohomology."}],"citation":{"ama":"Januszewski F.
