Developing competitive base metal dyads is mandatory for a more sustainable future. However, the electron transfer mechanisms from the photosensitizer to the proton reduction catalyst in base metal dyads remain so far unexplored. A Fe─Co dyad that exhibits photocatalytic H2 production activity is studied using femtosecond X‐ray emission spectroscopy, complemented by ultrafast optical spectroscopy and theoretical time‐dependent DFT calculations, to understand the electronic and structural dynamics after photoexcitation and during the subsequent charge transfer process from the Fe(II) photosensitizer to the cobaloxime catalyst. This novel approach enables the simultaneous measurement of the transient X‐ray emission at the iron and cobalt K‐edges in a two‐color experiment. With this methodology, the excited state dynamics are correlated to the electron transfer processes, and evidence of the Fe→Co electron transfer as an initial step of proton reduction activity is unraveled.","lang":"eng"}]},{"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2050-7488","2050-7496"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Vanita","first_name":"Vanita","full_name":"Vanita, Vanita"},{"first_name":"Aamir Iqbal","last_name":"Waidha","full_name":"Waidha, Aamir Iqbal"},{"last_name":"Vasala","first_name":"Sami","full_name":"Vasala, Sami"},{"last_name":"Puphal","first_name":"Pascal","full_name":"Puphal, Pascal"},{"id":"48467","orcid":"0000-0003-2061-7289","first_name":"Roland","last_name":"Schoch","full_name":"Schoch, Roland"},{"first_name":"Pieter","last_name":"Glatzel","full_name":"Glatzel, Pieter"},{"last_name":"Bauer","orcid":"0000-0002-9294-6076","first_name":"Matthias","full_name":"Bauer, Matthias","id":"47241"},{"full_name":"Clemens, Oliver","last_name":"Clemens","first_name":"Oliver"}],"year":"2024","title":"Insights into the First Multi-Transition-Metal Containing Ruddlesden Popper-Type Cathode for all-solid-state Fluoride Ion Batteries","status":"public","date_updated":"2025-08-15T12:50:31Z","publication_status":"published","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"52346","publisher":"Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)","doi":"10.1039/d4ta00704b","user_id":"48467","citation":{"mla":"Vanita, Vanita, et al. “Insights into the First Multi-Transition-Metal Containing Ruddlesden Popper-Type Cathode for All-Solid-State Fluoride Ion Batteries.” Journal of Materials Chemistry A, no. 12, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2024, doi:10.1039/d4ta00704b.","bibtex":"@article{Vanita_Waidha_Vasala_Puphal_Schoch_Glatzel_Bauer_Clemens_2024, title={Insights into the First Multi-Transition-Metal Containing Ruddlesden Popper-Type Cathode for all-solid-state Fluoride Ion Batteries}, DOI={10.1039/d4ta00704b}, number={12}, journal={Journal of Materials Chemistry A}, publisher={Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)}, author={Vanita, Vanita and Waidha, Aamir Iqbal and Vasala, Sami and Puphal, Pascal and Schoch, Roland and Glatzel, Pieter and Bauer, Matthias and Clemens, Oliver}, year={2024} }","ama":"Vanita V, Waidha AI, Vasala S, et al. So far, multi-elemental compositions were not investigated, but could alternate electrochemical performance similar to what has been found for cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. Within this study, we investigate RP type La2Ni0.75Co0.25O4.08 as an intercalation-based active cathode material for all-solid-state FIBs. We determine the structural changes of La2Ni0.75Co0.25O4.08 during fluoride intercalation / de-intercalation by ex-situ X-ray diffraction, which showed that F- insertion leads to transformation of the parent phase to three different phases. Changes in Ni and Co oxidation states and coordination environment were examined by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and magnetic measurements in order to understand the complex reaction behaviour of the phases in detail, showing that the two transition metals behave differently in the charging and discharging process. Under optimized operating conditions, a cycle life of 120 cycles at a critical cut-off capacity of 40 mAh g-1 against Pb/PbF2 was obtained, which is one of the highest observed for intercalation electrode materials in FIBs so far. The average Coulombic efficiencies ranged from 85% to 90%. Thus, La2Ni0.75Co0.25O4.08 could be a promising candidate for cycling-stable high-energy cathode materials for all-solid-state FIBs","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2024-03-07T10:01:09Z","department":[{"_id":"306"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Xray"]},{"type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"749"}],"date_created":"2025-02-19T09:09:03Z","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Research about explanation processes is gaining relevance because of the increased popularity of artificial systems required to explain their function or outcome. Following an interactive approach, not only explainers, but also explainees contribute to successful interactions. However, little is known about how explainees actively guide explanation processes and how their involvement relates to learning. We explored the occurrence and type of explainees’ questions in 20 adult — adult explanation dialogues about unknown present and absent objects. Crucially, we related the question types to the explainees’ subsequent recall of the unknown object labels. We found that explainees asked different types of questions, especially about the object’s label and facts. Questions about the object’s function were asked more when objects were present. In addition, requests for labelling were linked to better recall. The results contribute to designing explainable AI that aims to provide relevant and adaptive explanations and to further experimental approaches to study explanations."}],"issue":"2","publication":"Interaction Studies","doi":"doi.org/10.1075/is.23019.fis","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://www.jbe-platform.com/content/journals/10.1075/is.23019.fis"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-09-02T14:17:44Z","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 25","title":" Explain with, rather than explain to: How explainees shape their own learning","year":"2024","publication_identifier":{"unknown":[" 1572-0373"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Fisher, Josephine Beryl","first_name":"Josephine Beryl","orcid":"0000-0002-9997-9241","last_name":"Fisher","id":"56345"},{"full_name":"Rohlfing, Katharina J.","last_name":"Rohlfing","orcid":"0000-0002-5676-8233","first_name":"Katharina J.","id":"50352"},{"first_name":"Ed","last_name":"Donnellan","full_name":"Donnellan, Ed"},{"id":"57578","full_name":"Grimminger, Angela","last_name":"Grimminger","first_name":"Angela"},{"last_name":"Gu","first_name":"Yan","full_name":"Gu, Yan"},{"first_name":"Gabriella","last_name":"Vigliocco","full_name":"Vigliocco, Gabriella"}],"project":[{"_id":"111","name":"TRR 318 - A01: TRR 318 - Adaptives Erklären (Teilprojekt A01)"},{"name":"TRR 318 - A02: TRR 318 - Verstehensprozess einer Erklärung beobachten und auswerten (Teilprojekt A02)","_id":"112"},{"_id":"109","name":"TRR 318: TRR 318 - Erklärbarkeit konstruieren"}],"citation":{"apa":"Fisher, J. For resonant driving, phonons dampen the Rabi oscillations resulting in reduced preparation fidelities. The phonon spectral density, which quantifies the strength of the carrier-phonon interaction, is non-monotonous as a function of energy. As one of the most prominent consequences, this leads to the reappearance of Rabi rotations for increasing pulse power, which was theoretically predicted in Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 227403 (2007). In this paper we present the experimental demonstration of the reappearance of Rabi rotations."}],"citation":{"short":"L. Hanschke, T.K. Bracht, E. Schöll, D. Bauch, E. Berger, P. Kallert, M. Due to the complex and layered nature of ECC, there are many choices that a developer makes to obtain a functional and interoperable implementation. These include the curve model, coordinate system, addition formulas, and the scalar multiplier, or lower-level details such as the finite-field multiplication algorithm. This creates a gap between the attack requirements and a real-world attacker that often only has black-box access to the target – i.e., has no access to the source code nor knowledge of specific implementation choices made. Yet, when the gap is closed, even real-world implementations of ECC succumb to side-channel attacks, as evidenced by attacks such as TPM-Fail, Minerva, the Side Journey to Titan, or TPMScan [MSE+20; JSS+20; RLM+21; SDB+24].We study this gap by first analyzing open-source ECC libraries for insight into realworld implementation choices. We then examine the space of all ECC implementations combinatorially. Finally, we present a set of novel methods for automated reverse engineering of black-box ECC implementations and release a documented and usable open-source toolkit for side-channel analysis of ECC called pyecsca. Our methods turn attacks around: instead of attempting to recover the private key, they attempt to recover the implementation configuration given control over the private and public inputs. We evaluate them on two simulation levels and study the effect of noise on their performance. Our methods are able to 1) reverse-engineer the scalar multiplication algorithm completely and 2) infer significant information about the coordinate system and addition formulas used in a target implementation. Furthermore, they can bypass coordinate and curve randomization countermeasures.
"}]},{"date_created":"2026-05-08T12:57:17Z","type":"book_chapter","publication":"Schnittstelle Kunstunterricht: Skulptur - Material - Prozess","citation":{"ieee":"K. However, inherent to plastic forming is the nucleation and growth of defects, whose detrimental effects on the material behaviour can be described by continuum damage models and eventually lead to material failure. As the damage evolution strongly depends on the stress state, a stress-state-dependent model is utilised to correctly track the accumulation. To formulate and parameterise this model, besides classical experiments, so-called modified punch tests are also integrated herein to enhance the calibration of the failure model by capturing a larger range of stress states and metal-forming-specific loading conditions. Moreover, when highly ductile materials are considered, such as the dual-phase steel HCT590X and the aluminium alloy EN AW-6014 T4 investigated here, strong necking and localisation might occur prior to fracture. This can alter the stress state and affect the actual strain at failure. This influence is captured by coupling plasticity and damage to incorporate the damage-induced softening effect. Its relative importance is shown by conducting inverse parameter identifications to determine damage and failure parameters for both mentioned ductile metals based on up to 12 different experiments.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2025-04-15T11:07:52Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"157"}]},{"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"chicago":"Acevedo-Salas, Ulises, Boris Croes, Yide Zhang, Olivier Cregut, Kokou Dodzi Dorkenoo, Benjamin Kirbus, Ekta Singh, et al. “Impact of 3D Curvature on the Polarization Orientation in Non-Ising Domain Walls.” Nano Letters 23, no. 3 (2023): 795–803. https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.nanolett.2c03579.","short":"U. Despite their reduced dimensionality, they can exhibit complex non-Ising polarization configurations and unexpected physical properties. Here, the impact of the three-dimensional (3D) curvature on the polarization profile of nominally uncharged 180° domain walls in LiNbO3 is studied using second-harmonic generation microscopy and 3D polarimetry analysis. Correlations between the domain-wall curvature and the variation of its internal polarization unfold in the form of modulations of the Néel-like character, which we attribute to the flexoelectric effect. While the Néel-like character originates mainly from the tilting of the domain wall, the internal polarization adjusts its orientation due to the synergetic upshot of dipolar and monopolar bound charges and their variation with the 3D curvature. Our results show that curved interfaces in solid crystals may offer a rich playground for tailoring nanoscale polar states."}],"extern":"1","publication":"Nano Letters","issue":"3","keyword":["Mechanical Engineering","Condensed Matter Physics","General Materials Science","General Chemistry","Bioengineering"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-10-11T09:06:05Z","date_updated":"2023-10-11T09:06:31Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 23","article_type":"original","title":"Impact of 3D Curvature on the Polarization Orientation in Non-Ising Domain Walls","year":"2023","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1530-6984","1530-6992"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Acevedo-Salas, Ulises","last_name":"Acevedo-Salas","first_name":"Ulises"},{"first_name":"Boris","last_name":"Croes","full_name":"Croes, Boris"},{"first_name":"Yide","last_name":"Zhang","full_name":"Zhang, Yide"},{"last_name":"Cregut","first_name":"Olivier","full_name":"Cregut, Olivier"},{"first_name":"Kokou Dodzi","last_name":"Dorkenoo","full_name":"Dorkenoo, Kokou Dodzi"},{"last_name":"Kirbus","first_name":"Benjamin","full_name":"Kirbus, Benjamin"},{"first_name":"Ekta","last_name":"Singh","full_name":"Singh, Ekta"},{"first_name":"Henrik","last_name":"Beccard","full_name":"Beccard, Henrik"},{"id":"22501","full_name":"Rüsing, Michael","first_name":"Michael","orcid":"0000-0003-4682-4577","last_name":"Rüsing"},{"full_name":"Eng, Lukas M.","first_name":"Lukas M.","last_name":"Eng"},{"full_name":"Hertel, Riccardo","first_name":"Riccardo","last_name":"Hertel"},{"full_name":"Eliseev, Eugene A.","first_name":"Eugene A.","last_name":"Eliseev"},{"last_name":"Morozovska","first_name":"Anna N.","full_name":"Morozovska, Anna N."},{"full_name":"Cherifi-Hertel, Salia","last_name":"Cherifi-Hertel","first_name":"Salia"}],"doi":"10.1021/acs.nanolett.2c03579","language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"publication":"DINGS 2021. Beiträge zur Digitalen INternationalen Germanistischen Studierendentagung. As two major change agents, technology infusion and data privacy regulations are inextricably linked and constitute a critical ethical and societal issue. Specifically, service frontlines—as represented by human or technological agents, or some hybrid form—rely on customer data for service provision, which subjects them to privacy regulations governing the collection, submission, access, and use of any customer data thus captured. However, scant research outlines the significant implications of evolving data privacy regulations for service frontline encounters. To advance knowledge in this domain, this research distills six key dimensions of global data privacy regulations (fairness, data limits, transparency, control, consent, and recourse). Employing an intelligences theoretical lens, the authors theorize how these dimensions might become differentially manifest across three service frontline interface types (human-based, technology-based, and hybrid). Carefully intersecting the need for varying intelligences across data privacy regulatory dimensions with the abilities of service frontline interfaces to harness each intelligence type, this study offers a novel conceptual framework that advances research and practice. Theoretical, managerial, and policy implications unfold from the proposed framework, which also can inform a future research agenda.
","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"3","publication":"Journal of Service Research","doi":"10.1177/10946705221141925","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"intvolume":" 26","date_updated":"2023-11-23T13:12:23Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1094-6705","1552-7379"]},"author":[{"id":"4336","first_name":"Lena","last_name":"Steinhoff","full_name":"Steinhoff, Lena"},{"last_name":"Martin","first_name":"Kelly D.","full_name":"Martin, Kelly D."}],"title":"Putting Data Privacy Regulation into Action: The Differential Capabilities of Service Frontline Interfaces","year":"2023","citation":{"ieee":"L. This dissertation explores the effect of explicit pronunciation exercises on the English pronunciation of primary school children in Germany. Pronunciation is often taught through drilling exercises, not because it is the best way of learning pronunciation, but for a lack of tried and tested alternatives. The aim of this dissertation is to provide an alternative method of teaching the pronunciation of the TRAP vowel and the dental fricatives, focussing especially on the physical nature of pronunciation. Therefore, an intervention study with German-speaking primary school pupils was conducted. The 72 participants were taken from three different classes: two year 4 classes taught by two different teachers and one year 3 class taught by the same teacher as one of the year 4 classes. Each class was split into one control group and two intervention groups: one for the TRAP vowel and one for the dental fricatives. The pronunciation of all participants was tested once in the beginning of the study and twice at the end of the study. A six to eight week gap between the latter to tests allowed for an insight into longer-term results. The pupils of the intervention groups additionally participated in two one-on-one sessions with the researcher, each lasting no longer than three minutes, to practice their pronunciation of the respective phoneme(s). The results of this study show that the exercises had an effect on the pronunciation of the participants. The nature of that effect seems to depend on the age of the participants and their previous pronunciation instruction(s). The results provide valuable insights into how explicit instructions can influence the pronunciation of segmental features and implications not only for primary school teachers, but also for teacher training and curriculum development."}],"supervisor":[{"full_name":"Mindt, Ilka","first_name":"Ilka","last_name":"Mindt","id":"32079"}],"citation":{"chicago":"Hahn, Charlotte Anna. Learning the Pronunciation of Segmental Features of English Phonology at German Primary Schools.
