[{"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Class expression learning in description logics has long been regarded as an iterative search problem in an infinite conceptual space. Each iteration of the search process invokes a reasoner and a heuristic function. The reasoner finds the instances of the current expression, and the heuristic function computes the information gain and decides on the next step to be taken. As the size of the background knowledge base grows, search-based approaches for class expression learning become prohibitively slow. Current neural class expression synthesis (NCES) approaches investigate the use of neural networks for class expression learning in the attributive language with complement (ALC). While they show significant improvements over search-based approaches in runtime and quality of the computed solutions, they rely on the availability of pretrained embeddings for the input knowledge base. Moreover, they are not applicable to ontologies in more expressive description logics. In this paper, we propose a novel NCES approach which extends the state of the art to the description logic ALCHIQ(D). Our extension, dubbed NCES2, comes with an improved training data generator and does not require pretrained embeddings for the input knowledge base as both the embedding model and the class expression synthesizer are trained jointly. Empirical results on benchmark datasets suggest that our approach inherits the scalability capability of current NCES instances with the additional advantage that it supports more complex learning problems. NCES2 achieves the highest performance overall when compared to search-based approaches and to its predecessor NCES. We provide our source code, datasets, and pretrained models at https://github.com/dice-group/NCES2."}],"publication":"Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases: Research Track","department":[{"_id":"760"},{"_id":"574"}],"type":"book_chapter","date_created":"2023-09-25T13:42:01Z","file":[{"date_created":"2024-05-22T10:45:08Z","creator":"heindorf","content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"54417","date_updated":"2024-05-22T10:46:58Z","relation":"main_file","access_level":"open_access","file_size":432708,"file_name":"NCES2_public.pdf"}],"date_updated":"2024-05-22T10:48:24Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0302-9743","1611-3349"],"isbn":["9783031434204","9783031434211"]},"author":[{"id":"87189","full_name":"Kouagou, N'Dah Jean","last_name":"Kouagou","first_name":"N'Dah Jean"},{"first_name":"Stefan","last_name":"Heindorf","orcid":"0000-0002-4525-6865","full_name":"Heindorf, Stefan","id":"11871"},{"full_name":"Demir, Caglar","first_name":"Caglar","last_name":"Demir","id":"43817"},{"last_name":"Ngonga Ngomo","first_name":"Axel-Cyrille","full_name":"Ngonga Ngomo, Axel-Cyrille","id":"65716"}],"year":"2023","title":"Neural Class Expression Synthesis in ALCHIQ(D)","doi":"10.1007/978-3-031-43421-1_12","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://papers.dice-research.org/2023/ECML_NCES2/NCES2_public.pdf"}],"citation":{"chicago":"Kouagou, N’Dah Jean, Stefan Heindorf, Caglar Demir, and Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo. “Neural Class Expression Synthesis in ALCHIQ(D).” In <i>Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases: Research Track</i>. Research and Development (R&amp;D) plays a vital role in innovation. As technology advances and product life cycles become shorter, firms rely on R&amp;D as a strategy to invigorate innovation. R&amp;D project portfolio selection is a complex and challenging task. Despite the management's efforts to implement the best project portfolio selection practices, many projects continue to fail or miss their target. The problem is that selecting R&amp;D projects requires a deep understanding of strategic vision and technical capabilities. However, many decision-makers lack technological insight or strategic vision. This article aims to provide a method to capitalize on the expertise of R&amp;D professionals to assist managers in making informed and effective decisions. In this study, we explore how analysis of conversations on social media can be used to understand how people feel about heat waves and how they respond. We collected global Twitter data over four months (from January to April 2022) using predefined hashtags about heat waves. Topic modelling identified five topics. The largest (one-third of all tweets) was related to sports events. The remaining two-thirds could be allocated to four topics connected to communication about climate-related heat or heat waves. Two of these were on the impacts of heat and heat waves (health impacts 20%; social impacts 16%), one was on extreme weather and climate change attribution (17%) and the last one was on perceptions and warning (13%). The number of tweets in each week corresponded well with major heat wave occurrences in Argentina, Australia, the USA and South Asia (India and Pakistan), indicating that people posting tweets were aware of the threat from heat and its impacts on the society. Among the words frequently used within the topic ‘Social impacts’ were ‘air-conditioning’ and ‘electricity’, suggesting links between coping strategies and financial pressure. Apart from analysing the content of tweets, new insights were also obtained from analysing how people engaged with Twitter tweets about heat or heat waves. We found that tweets posted early, and which were then shared by other influential Twitter users, were among the most popular. Finally, we found that the most popular tweets belonged to individual scientists or respected news outlets, with no evidence that misinformation about climate change-related heat is widespread.\r\n
"}],"date_created":"2023-01-14T10:51:36Z","keyword":["Earth and Planetary Sciences (miscellaneous)","Atmospheric Science","Water Science and Technology"],"type":"journal_article"},{"status":"public","title":"Coherent Quantum Interconnection between On-Demand Quantum Dot Single Photons and a Resonant Atomic Quantum Memory","year":"2023","author":[{"full_name":"Cui, Guo-Dong","first_name":"Guo-Dong","last_name":"Cui"},{"full_name":"Schweickert, Lucas","last_name":"Schweickert","first_name":"Lucas"},{"id":"85353","first_name":"Klaus D.","last_name":"Jöns","full_name":"Jöns, Klaus D."},{"full_name":"Namazi, Mehdi","last_name":"Namazi","first_name":"Mehdi"},{"first_name":"Thomas","last_name":"Lettner","full_name":"Lettner, Thomas"},{"first_name":"Katharina D.","last_name":"Zeuner","full_name":"Zeuner, Katharina D."},{"full_name":"Montaña, Lara Scavuzzo","first_name":"Lara Scavuzzo","last_name":"Montaña"},{"first_name":"Saimon Filipe Covre da","last_name":"Silva","full_name":"Silva, Saimon Filipe Covre da"},{"first_name":"Marcus","last_name":"Reindl","full_name":"Reindl, Marcus"},{"full_name":"Huang, Huiying","last_name":"Huang","first_name":"Huiying"},{"last_name":"Trotta","first_name":"Rinaldo","full_name":"Trotta, Rinaldo"},{"full_name":"Rastelli, Armando","last_name":"Rastelli","first_name":"Armando"},{"first_name":"Val","last_name":"Zwiller","full_name":"Zwiller, Val"},{"full_name":"Figueroa, Eden","first_name":"Eden","last_name":"Figueroa"}],"date_updated":"2023-02-13T11:28:56Z","_id":"42049","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"user_id":"14931","publication":"arXiv:2301.10326","citation":{"mla":"Cui, Guo-Dong, et al. “Coherent Quantum Interconnection between On-Demand Quantum Dot Single  Photons and a Resonant Atomic Quantum Memory.” <i>ArXiv:2301.10326</i>, 2023.","bibtex":"@article{Cui_Schweickert_Jöns_Namazi_Lettner_Zeuner_Montaña_Silva_Reindl_Huang_et al._2023, title={Coherent Quantum Interconnection between On-Demand Quantum Dot Single  Photons and a Resonant Atomic Quantum Memory}, journal={arXiv:2301.10326}, author={Cui, Guo-Dong and Schweickert, Lucas and Jöns, Klaus D. and Namazi, Mehdi and Lettner, Thomas and Zeuner, Katharina D. and Montaña, Lara Scavuzzo and Silva, Saimon Filipe Covre da and Reindl, Marcus and Huang, Huiying and et al.}, year={2023} }","ama":"Cui G-D, Schweickert L, Jöns KD, et al. The four-wave mixing data reveal clear signatures of coherent biexcitons which concur with straight-forward polarization selection rules at the Γ point. The type-I samples show the well-established time-domain beating signatures in the transients as well as the corresponding spectral signatures clearly. The latter are also present in type-II samples; however, the smaller exciton and biexciton binding energies in these structures infer longer beating times which, in turn, are accompanied by faster dephasing of the type-II exciton coherences. Furthermore, the THz absorption following spectrally narrow, picosecond excitation at energies in the vicinity of the 1s exciton resonance are discussed. Here, the optical signatures yield the well-established redshifts and blueshifts for the appropriate polarization geometries in type-I quantum well samples also termed “AC Stark Effect”. The THz probe reveals intriguing spectral features which can be ascribed to coherent negative absorption following an excitation into a virtual state for an excitation below the 1s exciton resonance. Furthermore, the scattering and ionization of excitons is discussed for several excitation geometries yielding control rules for elastic and inelastic quasiparticle collisions.","lang":"eng"}]},{"citation":{"apa":"Meier, T., Trautmann, A., Stein, M., Schäfer, F., Anders, D., Ngo, C., Steiner, J. The main problem, however, is that the rheological characterisation of fresh concrete is not possible via commercial rheometers. The so-called concrete rheometers provide valuable relative values for comparing different concretes, but they cannot measure absolute values. Therefore, we developed an adaptive coaxial concrete rheometer (ACCR) that allows the measurement of fresh concrete with particles up to \r\n \r\n \r\n <m:math xmlns:m=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\">\r\n <m:msub>\r\n <m:mrow>\r\n <m:mi>d</m:mi>\r\n </m:mrow>\r\n <m:mrow>\r\n <m:mi mathvariant=\"normal\">max</m:mi>\r\n </m:mrow>\r\n </m:msub>\r\n <m:mo>=</m:mo>\r\n <m:mn>5.5</m:mn>\r\n <m:mspace width=\".5em\" />\r\n <m:mi mathvariant=\"normal\">mm</m:mi>\r\n </m:math>\r\n {d}_{{\\rm{\\max }}}=5.5\\hspace{.5em}{\\rm{mm}}\r\n \r\n . The comparison of the ACCR with a commercial rheometer showed very good agreement for selected test materials (Newtonian fluid, shear thinning fluid, suspension, and yield stress fluid), so that self-compacting concrete was subsequently measured. Since these measurements showed a very high reproducibility, the rheological properties of the fresh concrete could be determined with high accuracy. The common flow models (Bingham (B), Herschel–Bulkley, modified Bingham (MB) models) were also tested for their applicability, with the Bingham and the modified Bingham model proving to be the best suitable ones.
"}],"date_created":"2023-03-16T19:06:49Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Condensed Matter Physics","General Materials Science"],"department":[{"_id":"150"}],"status":"public","_id":"43034","publisher":"Walter de Gruyter GmbH","user_id":"3959","volume":33,"citation":{"ieee":"S. The combination of incremental sheet metal forming and high-speed forming offers new possibilities for flexible forming processes in the production of large sheet metal components of increased complexity with relatively low forming energies. In this paper, the general feasibility and process differences between the pulse-driven high-speed forming technologies of electrohydraulic and electromagnetic forming were investigated. An example component made of EN AW 6016 aluminum sheet metal was thus formed incrementally by both processes and the forming result evaluated by an optical 3D measurement system. For this purpose, a forming strategy for electromagnetic incremental forming (EMIF) was developed, tested and adapted to the electrohydraulic incremental forming process (EHIF). The discharge energy, the tool displacement and the pressure field of the forming zone were determined as relevant parameters for the definition of an adequate tool path strategy. It was found that the EHIF process is less affected by larger distances between the tool and the blank, while this is a critical variable for force application to the component during EMIF. On the other hand, the more uniform pressure distribution of the EMIF process is advantageous for forming large steady component areas.
"}],"publication":"Materials Research Proceedings","keyword":["Incremental Sheet Forming","Aluminium","High-Speed Forming"],"type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"156"}],"date_created":"2023-03-17T10:23:18Z","status":"public","conference":{"end_date":"2023-04-05","start_date":"2023-04-02","name":"20th International Conference on Sheet Metal 2023","location":"Nürnberg"},"user_id":"82645","volume":25,"page":"11-18","publisher":"Materials Research Forum LLC","_id":"43044","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"ama":"Holzmüller M, Linnemann M, Homberg W, Psyk V, Kräusel V, Kroos J.
