In this context, wide aperture automotive radars of 1m length or more and resolution close to 0.1° in azimuth and 0.5° in elevation could be beneficial. To enable coherent processing of arrays with such large aperture, prior (i.e offline) and online calibration are necessary: channel imbalances (gains and phases) and three dimensional coordinates of transmit and receive elements need to be determined. We propose a calibration strategy based on alternating steps between the two subtasks of i) channel imbalance estimation with ‘known’ array positions, by applying a singular value decomposition to the resulting tensor calculus problem; and ii) antenna position estimation with ’known’ channel imbalances, by numerically maximizing the Bayesian posterior probability; in both cases operating on range/Doppler snapshots of disjoint targets (with potentially unknown locations). Simulation studies based on the parameters of a MIMO 8x6 linear sparse array show promising results as long as the initial position errors do not exceed half a wavelength (2mm), beyond which we observe strong effects of ambiguity. The purpose of this case-control study was to examine the effects of cognitive training on joint stiffness regulation in response to negative visual stimuli and knee function following ACLR. A total of 20 ACLR patients and 20 healthy controls received four weeks of online cognitive training. Executive function, joint stiffness in response to emotionally evocative visual stimuli (neutral, fearful, knee injury related), and knee function outcomes before and after the intervention were compared. Both groups improved executive function following the intervention (p = 0.005). The ACLR group had greater mid-range stiffness in response to fearful (p = 0.024) and injury-related pictures (p = 0.017) than neutral contents before the intervention, while no post-intervention stiffness differences were observed among picture types. The ACLR group showed better single-legged hop for distance after cognitive training (p = 0.047), while the healthy group demonstrated no improvement. Topological integrity and geometric embedding validity are carefully maintained. We apply these operators strategically to volumetric block decompositions, so-called T-meshes or base complexes, in the context of hexahedral mesh generation. This allows circumventing the expensive and unreliable global volumetric remapping step in the versatile meshing pipeline based on 3D integer-grid maps. In essence, we reduce this step to simpler local cube mapping problems, for which reliable solutions are available. As a consequence, the robustness of the mesh generation process is increased, especially when targeting coarse or block-structured hexahedral meshes. The growing popularity of 3D printing has also attracted security researchers, who have analyzed possibilities for weakening 3D models or stealing intellectual property from 3D models. We extend these important aspects and provide the first comprehensive security analysis of 3D printing data formats. We performed our systematic study on the example of the 3D Manufacturing Format (3MF), which offers a large variety of features that could lead to critical attacks. Based on 3MF’s features, we systematized three attack goals: Data Exfiltration (dex), Denial of Service, and UI Spoofing (uis). We achieve these goals by exploiting the complexity of 3MF, which is based on the Open Packaging Conventions (OPC) format and uses XML to define 3D models. In total, our analysis led to 352 tests. But such explanations between humans vary greatly, making it difficult to research commonalities across explanations. We used the dual nature theory, a techno-philosophical approach, to cope with these challenges. According to it, one can explain, for example, an XAI's decision by addressing its dual nature: by focusing on the Architecture (e.g., the logic of its algorithms) or the Relevance (e.g., the severity of a decision, the implications of a recommendation). We investigated 20 game explanations using the theory as an analytical framework. We elaborate how we used the theory to quickly structure and compare explanations of technological artifacts. We supplemented results from analyzing the explanation contents with results from a video recall to explore how explainers justified their explanation. We found that explainers were focusing on the physical aspects of the game first (Architecture) and only later on aspects of the Relevance. Reasoning in the video recalls indicated that EX regarded the focus on the Architecture as important for structuring the explanation initially by explaining the basic components before focusing on more complex, intangible aspects. Shifting between addressing the two sides was justified by explanation goals, emerging misunderstandings, and the knowledge needs of the explainee. In order to be able to predict the clinched joint properties as a function of the individual manufacturing steps, current studies focus on numerical modeling of the entire clinching process chain. It is essential to be able to take into account the influence of the joining process-induced damage on the load-bearing capacity of the joint during the loading phase. This study presents a numerical damage accumulation in the clinching process based on an implemented Hosford-Coulomb failure model using a 3D clinching process model applied on the aluminum alloy EN AW-6014 in temper T4. A correspondence of the experimentally determined failure location with the element of the highest numerically determined damage accumulation is shown. Moreover, the experimentally determined failure behavior is predicted to be in agreement in the numerical loading simulation with transferred pre-damage from the process simulation. The so-called concrete rheometers provide valuable relative values for comparing different concretes, but they cannot measure absolute values. The comparison of the ACCR with a commercial rheometer showed very good agreement for selected test materials (Newtonian fluid, shear thinning fluid, suspension, and yield stress fluid), so that self-compacting concrete was subsequently measured. Since these measurements showed a very high reproducibility, the rheological properties of the fresh concrete could be determined with high accuracy. Several different approaches to realize solid-state quantum emitters with high performance have been pursued and different concepts for energy tuning have been established. However, the properties of the emitted photons are always defined by the individual quantum emitter and can therefore not be controlled with full flexibility. Here we introduce an all-optical nonlinear method to tailor and control the single photon emission. We demonstrate a laser-controlled down-conversion process from an excited state of a semiconductor quantum three-level system. Based on this concept, we realize energy tuning and polarization control of the single photon emission with a control-laser field. Our 2.5-D hybrid-analytical coupled mode model combines the vectorial fields associated with the fundamental TE- and TM-modes of a standard silicon photonics slab waveguide, propagating at oblique angles with respect to the rod axis, and the hybrid modes supported by the rod. One observes an efficient resonant interaction in cases where the common axial wavenumber of the waves in the slab matches the propagation constant of one or more modes of the rod. Im ersten Teil werden 2-D Si/SiO2-Wellenleiterkonfigurationen mit hohem Brechungsindexkontrast betrachtet. Die Strukturen werden mit halb geführten Wellen unter schrägen Ausbreitungswinkeln angeregt. Dadurch kann die Leistungsübertragung zu bestimmten ausgehenden Moden unterdrückt werden, wodurch vollständig verlustfreie Systeme entstehen. Zusätzlich dient die Anregung mit einem seitlich begrenzten, einfallenden Wellenbündel aus halb geführten Wellen dazu, praktisch relevantere 3-D Konfigurationen zu realisieren. Darüber hinaus wird eine schrittweise Winkelspektrum-Methode vorgestellt, die es ermöglicht, in Kombination mit voll vektoriellen 2-D Finite-Elemente-Lösungen für Teilprobleme mit geringerer Komplexität, die Wellenausbreitung in planaren, linsenförmigen Wellenleitern numerisch in drei Raumrichtungen zu berechnen. Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit wird die Ausbreitung in Wellenleiterstrukturen aus Lithiumniobat untersucht, welche für quantenoptische Effekte genutzt werden. Zur Detektion einzelner Photonen werden supraleitende Nanodrähte auf eindiffundierten Lithiumniobat Wellenleitern mit zusätzlicher Taperschicht aus Silizium betrachtet. Um die Wellenausbreitung in diesen 3-D Wellenleitern zu beschreiben, wird eine einseitig gerichtete Finite-Elemente „Modal Matching“ Methode eingeführt. Abschließend werden Rippenwellenleiter aus Lithiumniobat analysiert, die auf Siliziumdioxid Plattformen aufgebracht sind. Der Schwerpunkt liegt hier auf dem nichtlinearen „Parametric Down-Conversion“ Prozess, der für die Erzeugung verschränkter Photonen verwendet wird.","lang":"eng"},{"lang":"eng","text":"In this work, the electromagnetic wave propagation in integrated optical waveguides is studied by using semi-analytical and numerical simulation methods. In the first part, 2-D high-index contrast Si/SiO2 dielectric slab waveguide configurations are investigated. The structures are excited with semi-guided waves at oblique angles of propagation. Due to this, power transfer to specific outgoing modes can be suppressed, resulting in completely lossless configurations. The excitation is further examined for incoming, laterally confined wave bundles of semi-guided waves to realize practically more relevant 3-D configurations. Additionally, a stepwise angular spectrum method in combination with full vectorial 2-D finite element solutions for subproblems of lower complexity to numerically simulate the wave propagation in full 3-D planar lens-like waveguides is presented. In the second part, the wave propagation in lithium niobate waveguide structures is examined, which are used for quantum optical effects. On the one hand, superconducting nanowires on titanium in-diffused lithium niobate waveguides with an additional tapered silicon layer are used for single photon detection. The wave propagation in these 3-D multiscale tapers is studied by introducing a unidirectional finite element modal matching method.
