text: To reduce CO₂ emissions, the automotive industry is adopting multi-material
structures. Fusion-based joining reaches its limits for aluminium–steel due to
brittle intermetallic phases and mismatched thermophysical properties; therefore,
mechanical joining (e.g., SPR) is used. Though conventional SPR requires tool
changes for different stack-ups. Versatile self-piercing riveting (V-SPR) addresses
this with an extended punch actuator and a multi-range-capable rivet (Kappe in
PERD16:363–378, 2022), enabling joints up to 600 MPa across varying thicknesses
without retooling. With the use of ultra-high-strength steels up to 1000 MPa,
optimisation is required. This study quantifies how rivet shank geometry affects
joint formation using a design of experiments and validated 2D axisymmetric FE
simulations. The optimum depends strongly on the material system. For CP1000–EN
AW-6014, maximum interlock f is predicted for a medium shank thickness of about
0.73 mm, a small internal foot radius of 0.620 mm, and a deeper drill depth of
3.136 mm, yielding f fc =0.4503 mm with a desirability of 0.954. For EN AW-6014–EN
AW-6014, the optimum shifts to a thinner shank of 0.670 mm, a larger internal
foot radius of 0.820 mm and a shallow drill depth of 2.30 mm, giving ffc = 0.3023
mm with a desirability of 1.0. A compromise geometry of 0.713 mm shank thickness,
0.776 mm internal foot radius and 2.755 mm drill depth achieves ffc = 0.3641 mm
for CP1000–aluminium and ffc = 0.1851 mm for aluminium–aluminium with an overall
desirability D = 0.6378, expanding V-SPR to ultra-high-strength steel–aluminium
joints while maintaining aluminium joinability.

text: "
Abstract
\r\n
Vitamin D
has been associated with depression, potentially via anti-inflammatory mechanisms,
yet data is scarce, particularly in adolescence. We investigated (1) whether lower
vitamin D status is associated with greater depression severity and (2) whether
this association is statistically moderated by inflammation in patients of a child
and adolescent psychiatry department. At admission fasting morning venous blood
was drawn. Serum vitamin D (25(OH)D) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were analyzed
in all participants [n=465 (64.7%♀; 11.3-18.9 years)]. In a subsample [n=177],
we additionally measured tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interferon-gamma and interleukin
(IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10. Depression severity was assessed by the Beck Depression
Inventory-II (BDI-II) [n=450], the Diagnostic System for Mental Disorders in Childhood
and Adolescence via self-assessment (DISYPS Self) [n=441], and parent-assessment
(DISYPS Proxy) [n=422]. Overall, 43.2% [n=201] were at risk for vitamin D deficiency
(<30nmol/L), and 73.5%-83.2% –depending on assessment tool– showed at least
mild depression. Linear regression revealed an inverse association between 25(OH)D
and BDI-II in both crude and CRP-adjusted full-sample models. Logistic regressions
showed a robust inverse association between 25(OH)D and DISYPS Proxy, but not
for DISYPS Self. Although 25(OH)D was inversely correlated with some pro-inflammatory
markers, neither their inclusion in regression models nor formal mediation analyses
supported inflammation as a mediator of the vitamin D–depression association.
Overall, our results suggest that vitamin D relates modestly to both depression
and inflammation in adolescence. However, based on the measured parameters, we
cannot confirm that anti-inflammatory effects are the link between vitamin D and
depression.
"

text: Abstract This study explores the usability and onboarding process of a Mixed
Reality (MR) application called PEARL, designed to prepare students for laboratory
work. Originally developed for mobile Augmented Reality (mAR), PEARL was adapted
for MR to offer a more immersive and intuitive experience through hand and gesture
controls. Since many students lack experience with MR devices, a user-friendly
onboarding system is essential. The study aims to redesign PEARL’s user interface
and onboarding experience, evaluating how intuitive interaction elements impact
usability. First, a literature review will identify existing usability guidelines
for MR applications, which will guide the redesign of the interface. This new
version will then be tested with students through a user study. Feedback will
be collected via an online survey to assess the onboarding and user experience,
and the findings will be used to refine the design further. The expected outcome
is an improved onboarding process and interface, making PEARL accessible even
for MR novices, enhancing their ability to interact with 3D objects in a real-world
setting. Ultimately, the study aims to provide best practices for developing intuitive
MR interfaces and effective onboarding experiences, especially in educational
contexts.

Objectives. Computational Thinking\r\n (CT) has
become a central theme in K–12 Computer Science education. Over the past twenty
years, multiple conceptualizations of CT have emerged, many forming the basis
for assessment instruments. One such conceptualization was developed for the large-scale\r\n

across 24 countries using representative sampling. The size and sampling quality
of the ICILS data set allow for robust statistical analyses which in turn will
be of interest to researchers and policy-makers alike. This study situates the
ICILS 2023 conceptualization of CT within other established frameworks and conducts
a secondary analysis of the ICILS 2023 CT data on non-cognitive antecedents and
processes.\r\n
\r\n
\r\n <jats:italic

[65] and Weintrop et al. [71]—and aligned with Bloom's revised taxonomy [2]. Linear
regression analyses on the data of the 20 educational contexts that provided not
only CT performance data but also a complete coverage of student data relative

be mapped to the ICILS framework. The distinct, partially overlapping profiles
of the instruments across the frameworks as well as Bloom's taxonomy indicate
that they are complementary in assessing CT, confirming and expanding prior comparisons
of\r\n Bebras\r\n and\r\n

analyses indicate no single dominant predictor of CT performance. The association
of socio-economic status, gender, or the home language was consistent with prior
findings, predictors related to learning processes, however, vary across educational
contexts.\r\n
\r\n
\r\n <jats:italic

that ICILS 2023 items can be mapped onto multiple established CT frameworks, supporting
their broader validity and utility for comparative research. The findings of the
regression analysis underscore the complex interplay of non-cognitive factors
affecting CT and illustrate the significance of contextual interpretation within

text: We present recent progress made towards ultra-broadband photonically assisted
analog-to-digital converters, that leverage both the low jitter of best-of-class
mode-locked lasers as well as the capability of optics to break down broadband
signals into multiple lower speed tributaries that can be better handled by electronics.
We review in particular our work on both time- and frequency-domain approaches
and give an outlook on how these architectures can be extended to include further
signal processing tasks such as equalization. Optically triggered track-and-hold
amplifiers are reported with an equivalent jitter below 80 fs rms in a signal
frequency range from 20 GHz to 70 GHz. Frequency-domain architectures implementing
optical arbitrary waveform measurement up to signal bandwidths of 610 GHz are
also shown. Finally, an architecture allowing the deserialization and equalization
of PAM4 signals is introduced and modeled for operation in 400 Gb/s links.

(001) epilayers grown at 740°C by plasma‐assisted molecular beam epitaxy is investigated.
High resolution X‐ray diffraction is performed to determine the lattice constant,

900°C, calibrated against the underlying single‐crystalline silicon substrate.

\ with rising temperature is observed. The thermal expansion
behaviour is modelled using Debye´s phonon dispersion. The fitted lattice parameters
are used to calculate the thermal expansion coefficient (TEC). At room temperature
the TEC is determined to be\r\n α\r\n

compare the TEC of the cubic GaN epilayer to that of free‐standing hexagonal GaN

text: This article explores the relativity of Islamic normativity through the taṣwīb
doctrine (kullu mujtahid muṣīb) as formulated by al-ʿAnbarī and received by al-Jāḥiẓ
(d. 255/869), al-Jaṣṣāṣ (d. 370/981), and al-Baṣrī (d. 436/1044). Al-Jaṣṣāṣ reinterprets
the thesis through the ḥanafī principle of ashbah bi-l-aṣl as a hermeneutical-methodological
approach; al-Baṣrī elaborates it into an epistemo-logical model of normative plurality,
while al-Jāḥiẓ articulates a soteriological theory of moral responsibility in
the context of kalām. The analysis shows that classical Islamic legal theory developed
a distinct modelof normativity that maintains binding force under conditions of
pluralism and uncertainty. The article calls for renewed engagement with this
tradition in contemporary debates on religious normativity and legal pluralism.

text: Service research has evolved into an interdisciplinary research field that
bridges diverse disciplines, including information systems (IS) and marketing.
Nearly two decades ago, the service system concept was introduced as a foundational
abstraction in service research, drawing on ideas from the service-dominant logic
(S-D logic) of marketing. Despite its widespread adoption in service research,
particularly in the IS discipline, the service system concept lacks a solid theoretical
foundation. This has resulted in conceptual ambiguity and overlap with related
constructs, such as service ecosystems. Moreover, it has largely remained a static
analytical lens, insufficiently capturing dynamic service phenomena, including
value co-creation and co-destruction, as well as the emergence of institutional
arrangements. To address these limitations, we propose Luhmann’s systems theory
(LST) as a robust framework for conceptualizing service systems as autopoietic
(self-creating) systems, in which communication serves as the fundamental mechanism
that drives value co-creation. We derive five theoretical propositions from this
re-conceptualization that clarify conceptual ambiguity and allow researchers to
explore dynamic service phenomena in greater depth. Given LST’s general approach,
our conceptualization provides a theoretically grounded, interdisciplinary foundation
for advancing service research.

text: Alkaline oxygen evolution on Co3O4 involves more than adsorption and electron
transfer at a fixed surface. The article draws on operando electrochemical quartz
crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (EQCM-D), surface X-ray diffraction
(SXRD), Raman, UV/Vis and impedance spectroscopy. On this basis, it discusses
pseudocapacitive oxidation of cobalt ion sites, electrolyte uptake and near-surface
transformation, and asks which of these changes are kinetically coupled to electrocatalysis.

text: Resilient systems require monitoring and prediction of environmental and intrinsic
conditions, as well as the ability to adapt to environmental hazards while optimizing
the trade-off among performance, power consumption, and fault tolerance. TETRISC
was introduced as a resilient multicore RISC-V processor system based on the PULPissimo
platform. We introduce the migration of TETRISC to the open-source Rocket Chip
SoC, targeting scalable TETRISC Chisel implementations. As such, we discuss and
evaluate the main advantages and obstacles that come with the Chipyard framework
for RTL simulation and FPGA synthesis, enabling rapid prototyping of resilient,
scalable architectures configurable for multicore and lockstep modes.

text:
Stimulated by the renewed interest and recent developments in semiempirical
quantum chemical (SQC) methods for noncovalent interactions, we examine the properties
of liquid water under ambient conditions by means of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations,
both with the conventional neglect of diatomic differential overlap-type methods,
e.g., AM1 and PM6, and with DFTB-type (density-functional tight-binding) methods,
e.g., DFTB2 and GFN-xTB (Geometry-Frequency-Noncovalent eXtended Tight-Binding).
Besides the original parameter sets, some specifically reparameterized SQC methods
(denoted as AM1-W, PM6-fm, and DFTB2-iBi) targeting various smaller water systems
ranging from molecular clusters to bulk are considered as well. The quality of
these different SQC methods for describing liquid water properties under ambient
conditions is assessed by comparison with well-established experimental data and
also with BLYP-D3 density functional theory-based ab initio MD simulations. Our
analyses reveal that static and dynamic properties of bulk water are poorly described
by all considered SQC methods with the original parameters, regardless of the
underlying theoretical models, with most of the methods suffering from too weak
hydrogen bonds and hence predicting a far too fluid water with highly distorted
hydrogen bond kinetics. Meanwhile, the reparameterized force-matched PM6-fm method
is shown to be able to quantitatively reproduce the static and dynamic features
of liquid water and thus can be used as a computationally efficient alternative
to electronic structure-based MD simulations for liquid water that requires extended
length and time scales. DFTB2-iBi predicts a slightly overstructured water with
reduced fluidity, whereas AM1-W gives an amorphous ice-like structure for water
under ambient conditions.

text: This article examines the most frequently attributed statement of Jesus in
the Qur’an, namely, ‘God is my Lord and your Lord’ (Q 19:36; Q 43:64; Q 3:51;
Q 5:72; Q 5:117). It investigates the extent to which this formula is connected
to Jesus’s words to Mary Magdalene on Easter morning in John 20:17. The analysis
aims to show that the Qur’an critically engages with the Christian interpretive
tradition surrounding this statement as recorded in John’s Gospel and adapts it
– both contextually and verbally – within its own theological framework. As in
the Christian tradition, this Qur’anic engagement also generates a broader discourse
on the hermeneutics of scriptural interpretation.
