  abstract     = {{
ABSTRACT:
The importance of the circular economy as an alternative to today’s prevailing linear economy is recognised in both industry and research. Product designers are having a major influence on this transition by adapting the characteristics of physical products in the early phases of the product development process. However, most products follow a linear approach and are far from being circular. This paper aims to identify the challenges that product designers face when designing circular products. Building on a developed understanding of related terms in circular product design, an exploratory literature review is conducted. The results help to gain an overview and understanding of the challenges that need to be addressed. Therefore, further research directions are derived to support the transition from linear to circular products in the long term.
}},

Management support is a critical success factor in ensuring that design-related aspects are given appropriate attention during product development. Despite the importance of management, the literature doesn't provide a clear picture of what characterizes a competent manager in product design. This gap impedes competence development and explains why organizations struggle to leverage the benefits of well-designed products. This research aims to address this gap by synthesizing important findings from the literature into a model of managerial competence. The model provides initial insight into the individual competencies managers need to meet their responsibility for good product design in organizations.
}},

Despite their potential, the adoption and effective utilization of dataspaces by business stakeholders remain challenging. This paper aims to address this gap by developing a comprehensive learning environment tailored for business stakeholders. Through an interview study and an analysis of the current state of research, we identify problem fields and derive key requirements for the development of the learning environment. The proposed environment includes a demonstrator and a training concept designed to enhance stakeholders' understanding and capabilities in managing and leveraging dataspaces. Our findings contribute to the body of knowledge by providing practical guidance through learning environments for the deployment of dataspaces in business contexts and highlighting areas for future research.}},

abstract = {{Digital Servitization is one of the significant trends affecting the manufacturing industry. Companies try to tackle challenges regarding their differentiation and profitability using digital services. One specific type of digital services are smart services, which are digital services built on data from smart products. Introducing these kinds of offerings into the portfolio of manufacturing companies is not trivial. Moreover, they require conscious action to align all relevant capabilities to realize the respective business goals. However, what capabilities are generally relevant for smart services remains opaque. We conducted a systematic literature review to identify them and extended the results through an interview study. Our analysis results in 78 capabilities clustered among 12 principles and six dimensions. These results provide significant support for the smart service transformation of manufacturing companies and for structuring the research field of smart services.}},
