Combining two empirical approaches—a small-scale analysis of top-ranked videos from YouTube search results in 2022 and 2024, and a large-scale data set of over 112k videos—we examine how Tate-related content continues to circulate and how the platform moderates such material. Our findings show that Tate remains highly visible through a diffuse and decentralized network of actors who repackage his messaging into interviews, remixes, and YouTube-native formats. This configuration produces what we term the “Tate-space”: an ambient ideological environment where motivational rhetoric, aspirational masculinity, and far-right talking points converge. We find that YouTube’s substantial moderation efforts are outpaced by the speed and scale of recommendation-driven circulation and that deplatforming, while symbolically significant, fails to disrupt the cultural and logistical dynamics that sustain Tate’s influence.
","lang":"eng"}],"author":[{"last_name":"Rieder","full_name":"Rieder, Bernhard","first_name":"Bernhard"},{"orcid":"0009-0006-1577-9039","full_name":"August, Bastian Julian","first_name":"Bastian Julian","id":"74143","last_name":"August"},{"last_name":"Latil","first_name":"Brogan","full_name":"Latil, Brogan"}],"title":"The Tate-space on YouTube: Ambient ideology and the limits of platform moderation"},{"title":"DSA, AIA, and LLMs: Approaches to conceptualizing and auditing moderation in LLM-based chatbots across languages and interfaces in the electoral contexts","author":[{"last_name":"Stanusch","first_name":"Natalia","full_name":"Stanusch, Natalia"},{"last_name":"Cetin","first_name":"Raziye Buse","full_name":"Cetin, Raziye Buse"},{"last_name":"Romano","first_name":"Salvatore","full_name":"Romano, Salvatore"},{"first_name":"Miazia","full_name":"Schueler, Miazia","last_name":"Schueler"},{"last_name":"Baumgartner","first_name":"Meret","full_name":"Baumgartner, Meret"},{"first_name":"Bastian Julian","full_name":"August, Bastian Julian","last_name":"August","id":"74143","orcid":"0009-0006-1577-9039"},{"first_name":"Alexandra","full_name":"Rosca, Alexandra","last_name":"Rosca"}],"editor":[{"full_name":"Rogers, Richard","first_name":"Richard","last_name":"Rogers"}],"place":"Amsterdam","doi":"10.48550/ARXIV.2509.19890","citation":{"ama":"Stanusch N, Cetin RB, Romano S, et al.
