To open the “data-science-black-box” for lower secondary school students we developed a data science project focussing on the analysis of self-collected environmental data. We embed this project in computer science education, which enables us to use a new knowledge-based programming approach for the data analysis within Jupyter Notebooks and the programming language Python. In this paper, we evaluate the second cycle of this project which took place in a ninth-grade computer science class. However, sensitive personal information, such as documents with people{’}s profiles or relationships as edges, are prone to privacy leaks, as the trained model might reveal the original input. Although differential privacy (DP) offers a well-founded privacy-preserving framework, GCNs pose theoretical and practical challenges due to their training specifics. We address these challenges by adapting differentially-private gradient-based training to GCNs and conduct experiments using two optimizers on five NLP datasets in two languages. We propose a simple yet efficient method based on random graph splits that not only improves the baseline privacy bounds by a factor of 2.7 while retaining competitive F1 scores, but also provides strong privacy guarantees of epsilon = 1.0. In practice, existing systems may lack the means to validate their privacy-preserving claims, leading to problems of transparency and reproducibility. We introduce DP-Rewrite, an open-source framework for differentially private text rewriting which aims to solve these problems by being modular, extensible, and highly customizable. Our system incorporates a variety of downstream datasets, models, pre-training procedures, and evaluation metrics to provide a flexible way to lead and validate private text rewriting research. To expand our understanding of leader identity construal, we explored how professors in German research universities interpreted their formal leader role and whether and how they saw themselves as leaders. Based on findings from an inductive interview study, we contribute to the literature in three ways: First, our findings imply that patterns of professional identity and leader identity dimensions likely predict when a leader role is rejected, accommodated, incorporated, or emphasized. Second, we explain why professionals with a formal leader role see themselves primarily as specialists, mentors, managers, or shapers. Third, we extend previous notions of the leader identity concept by elaborating on its dimensions. Embedded in a zeitgeist that favors sustainability, this outlook would suggest high integrated reporting adoption rates among reporting organizations. Our analysis of integrated reporting in Germany from 2008 to 2019 shows, however, that organizations approached integrated reporting with a wait-and-see mentality. This approach cannot be described adequately by the existing conceptualizations of (partial) practice adoption. We therefore develop the notion of wait-and-see-ism, defined as the deliberate and potentially long-lasting postponement of a decision to adopt a practice while its further development is monitored silently. We see limited, though continuous, efforts to prepare for the prospect of adopting the practice of integrated reporting quickly at a later stage. Wait-and-see-ism expands on prior work on partial adoption by emphasizing its temporal dimension. Two examples are considered for the validation of this method. The first example represents an electric dipole so that the obtained calculations can be compared to an analytical solution. As a second example, a printed circuit board is considered and the calculated far-field is compared to a fullwave simulation. The paper presents a content-related approach to analyzing diagnostic thinking processes with respect to the mathematical knowledge elements that prospective teachers identify as students’ resources and obstacles. Prospective teachers’ challenge is that some relevant knowledge elements first have to be unpacked, because compact concepts (such as the place value concept) or procedures (such as for multi-digit multiplication) comprise several smaller knowledge elements (such as the positional property) that have to be made explicit for students to foster their learning processes adequately. Our study examines what knowledge elements prospective teachers perceive and interpret in a transcript vignettes on multi-digit multiplication (of decimal and natural numbers) and its underlying basic arithmetic concepts (place value understanding and meaning of multiplication) in written diagnostic judgments on students’ resources and obstacles (N = 196). A comparative design within the vignette is used to investigate how far the process of perceiving can be supported by thematic cues. The analysis reveals that those knowledge elements cued in the vignette by being already unpacked and explicitly addressed are perceived and interpreted more often (but with lower correctness) than those that are uncued and therefore have to be unpacked by the prospective teachers themselves. A high frequency oscillation causes a metallurgical bond deformation in\r\nthe contact area. Due to the numerous physical influencing factors, it is very difficult to accurately capture\r\nthis process in a model. Therefore, our goal is to determine a suitable feed-forward control strategy for the\r\nbonding process even without detailed model knowledge. We propose the use of batch constrained Bayesian\r\noptimization for the control design. Hence, Bayesian optimization is precisely adapted to the application of\r\nbonding: the constraint is used to check one quality feature of the process and the use of batches leads to\r\nmore efficient experiments. Our approach is suitable to determine a feed-forward control for the bonding\r\nprocess that provides very high quality bonds without using a physical model. We also show that the quality\r\nof the Bayesian optimization based control outperforms random search as well as manual search by a user.\r\nUsing a simple prior knowledge model derived from data further improves the quality of the connection.\r\nThe Bayesian optimization approach offers the possibility to perform a sensitivity analysis of the control\r\nparameters, which allows to evaluate the influence of each control parameter on the bond quality. Die Studie wendet sich dem Verhältnis dieser religiösen Musikform zum deutschen Nationalismus vom Beginn des Ersten bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs zu. Im Fokus stehen verschiedene Weisen der Instrumentalisierung von Musik, etwa zur ‚Heldenehrung‘, zur Bildung einer ‚vorgestellten Gemeinschaft‘ oder zur Gewinnung der Arbeiterschaft. Bei der Analyse der Politisierung des Oratoriums sind vier Beobachtungsperspektiven leitend: Konfession, Säkularisierung, Erinnerungskultur und Vergemeinschaftung.\r\n\r\nEntsprechend liegt der Schwerpunkt der Studie auf der Analyse der sozialgeschichtlichen Funktion der Gattung.
