Design engineers prepare initial concepts as 3D models. These are then simulated by computational engineers. If requirements are not met, this necessitates an iterative process that runs between the design and computation departments until a valid concept is created. Design methods such as topology optimization are often used here. The upcoming result is then attempted to be adapted to certain manufacturing processes. These iteration loops can sometimes take a very long time, since the model construction and structural optimization generate large computational efforts. The present work shows on an example a methodical approach, which represents a first proof of concept, to solving this problem, including a description of methods and techniques, as well as possible problems in a detailed analysis concerning training data for neural networks and their abstraction capabilities. It is evident that additional research work needs to be conducted for further utilization in order to address all arising questions.","lang":"eng"}]},{"user_id":"44204","abstract":[{"lang":"ger","text":"Die additive Fertigung bietet die Möglichkeit, digitale Prototypen dank der\r\nBesonderheit der werkzeuglosen Fertigung schnellstmöglich in reale Strukturen\r\numzusetzen. Dieses Verfahren kann jedoch nur dann mit optimaler Geschwindigkeit\r\ngenutzt werden, wenn Engpässe wirksam vermieden werden können. Einer dieser\r\nEngpässe ist der Konstruktionsprozess. Gerade im Bereich der additiven Fertigung\r\nsind in letzter Zeit immer leistungsfähigere Softwarelösungen erschienen, die das\r\nDesign für die additive Fertigung, einschließlich der meisten Computer-Aided-Design\r\n(CAD)-Aufgaben, beschleunigen. In vielen Bereichen wird daher bereits versucht, so\r\nviele Schritte wie möglich zu automatisieren, nicht selten unter Verwendung\r\nneuronaler Netze und künstlicher Intelligenz. However, this\r\nprocess can only be used at optimum speed if bottlenecks can be effectively avoided. One of these\r\nconstraints is the design process. Although modern CAD systems allow a significant increase in\r\nmany areas, this always requires a person with specific skills (e.g. engineer). In the field of AM in\r\nparticular, more and more powerful software solutions have recently been published which\r\naccelerate the Design for Additive Manufacturing, including most CAD-tasks. In many areas,\r\ntherefore, attempts are already made to automate relevant design steps as much as possible, more\r\nand more using neural networks and artificial intelligence. Weit mehr als die Hälfte aller mittelständischen Unternehmen sehen die Technologien zukünftig als etablierte Verfahren oder gar Schlüsseltechnologien im eigenen Unter-nehmen. Dass der Schritt zur industriellen Nutzung bislang allerdings nicht erfolgt ist, liegt oft am Prozess der Technologieintegration selbst. Unternehmen gelingt es nicht, die fehlende Expertise aufzubauen, die Akzeptanz gegenüber der Additiven Fertigung erfolg-reich zu stärken und die hohen Kosten zu beherrschen. Diese Problematik bestätigen neben Studien des Industriearbeitskreises Light Alliance und der National Association of Manufacturers (USA) auch der Richtungswandel der Forschungsförderung des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung. Vor diesem Hintergrund gilt es, die auftretenden Hindernisse der Technologieintegration differenziert zu betrachten und erforderliche spezifische Lösungsmethoden in einzelnen Handlungsfeldern abzuleiten. Für diese Handlungsfelder sind anschließend Vorgehensmodelle zu entwickeln, wodurch Hemmnisse wie die hohen Kosten gelöst werden sollen. Die resultierenden Modelle sind in eine Gesamtsystematik zu überführen, welche Unternehmen unter Berücksichtigung der bestehenden Unternehmensprozesse und -strukturen bei der prozessbasierten Technologieintegration der Additiven Fertigung im Unternehmen unterstützt. Die Anwendbarkeit des Verfahrens wird durch eine industrielle Fallstudie untermauert und validiert. Vor diesem Hintergrund gilt es, die Motivation und das Vorgehen der Imitatoren zu untersuchen und den technischen und wirtschaftlichen Potentialen der Additiven Fertigungsverfahren differenziert gegenüberzustellen. Darauf aufbauend ist ein systematisches Vorgehen zum präventiven Produktschutz durch Additive Fertigungsverfahren zu entwickeln. Die resultierende Systematik führt die Unternehmen unter Berücksichtigung des präventiven Produktschutzes schrittweise durch die Produktentstehung und unterstützt bei der Identifikation schützenswerter Funktionen sowie der Auswahl und Implementierung geeigneter additiver Schutzpotentiale. Insbesondere auf Leichtbau optimierte, hochkomplexe Strukturen lassen sich hiermit wirtschaftlich fertigen. Die Bauteile müssen jedoch auch speziell auf die Verfahren angepasst sein, um sicher, fehlerfrei und kostengünstig produziert werden zu können. Mit konventionellen Konstruktionsverfahren sind solche Strukturen nur schwer erzeugbar.\r\nIm Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird daher eine Methodik zur intelligenten Optimierung von Produktgeometrien, angepasst an die additive Fertigung, entwickelt. Dies beinhaltet die automatische Erzeugung von anwendungsfallspezifisch optimierten Geometrien sowie deren Überführung in Datenstrukturen, welche in konventionellen CAD-Systemen nutzbar sind. Als grundlegendes Werkzeug wird dabei die Topologieoptimierung verwendet, welche hochaufgelöst durchgeführt und im Anschluss mit hoher Qualität geglättet und weiterverarbeitet werden muss. Hierzu wurde ein durchgängiger voxelbasierter Ansatz gefunden, der auch die Anpassung der Geometrien an die additive Fertigung erlaubt. Die Entwicklung und Funktionalität des Ansatzes wird auf Basis mehrerer Beispielbauteile gezeigt. Das Ergebnis der Optimierungen sind hochkomplexe, im Detail optimierte und an die additive Fertigung angepasste Strukturen. Problematisch ist dabei jedoch die geringe Erfahrung der Unternehmen mit der additiven Fertigung und ihren Besonderheiten. Ein Vergleich mit anderen Fertigungsverfahren muss dabei über eine reine Kostenkalkulation hinausgehen, um zusätzliche Potentiale und Einschränkungen abwägen zu können. Die vorliegende Arbeit gibt daher einen Überblick über die wesentlichen Einflussfaktoren Kosten, Zeit und Qualität und es wird auf dieser Basis eine Entscheidungsunterstützung entwickelt, die bei der Identifizierung vorteilhafter Einsatzmöglichkeiten für die additive Fertigung hilft. Da die additive Technologie auch signifikante Änderungen im Bereich der Supply Chain erzielen kann, liegt der Fokus des Einsatzgebietes auf der zeitkritischen Ersatzteilversorgung, betrachtet am Beispiel der Luftfahrtindustrie. In diesem Kontext ist es Ziel und Zweck der Arbeit, die oftmals isoliert betrachteten drei Bereiche Kosten, Zeit und Qualität zu einem ganzheitlichen Vergleich zu kombinieren. On the one hand the manufacturingtechnology offers the possibility of manufacturing highly complex freeform shapes, often referred to as bionic shapes. By use of these, perfect force fluxes without stress risings due to imperfect notches are realizable, getting the most value of used material. On the other hand these complex structures require a reliable geometry representation in compatible CAD-files. Conventional CAD systems were developed to generate geometries that are manufacturable with conventional machining. These are not capable of representing the high complex designs for AM. Especially for geometries generated by CAE like from topology optimization the conventional CAD systems fail to take advantage of the combination of CAE and AM. This paper explains why there is a lack of compatibility of well-known CAD systems with the potentials of AM. Therefore the AM-side of the problem is described by showing some potentials of AM and the need of high complex structures for this manufacturing technology. For the other side of the problem conventional methodologies for geometry representation of CAD systems are described and their limitations with regard to AM are worked out. Due to the potential of the technology, which was especially seen in the aerospace industries, many criteria of the methodology were initially adapted for this industry. Furthermore the methodology is based on a quantified weighting system, which comes to a certain subjectivity. For future use, a development towards a less subjective methodology should be accomplished. Through a more detailed adaption for individual industries and a simplification of the input mode, the objectivity of the criteria can be increased. Likewise, the input time can be reduced by simplifying the questioning. A more efficient part selection will be achieved by a better weighting system.In the BMBF project “OptiAMix” this methodology is supposed to be further developed for highly different branches.
