  text: "
Abstract
\r\n
In this work,
we address the numerical identification of entanglement in dynamical scenarios.
To this end, we consider different programs based on the restriction of the evolution
to the set of separable (i.e., non-entangled) states, together with the discretization
of the space of variables for numerical computations. As a first approach, we
apply linear splitting methods to the restricted, continuous equations of motion
derived from variational principles. We utilize an exchange interaction Hamiltonian
to confirm that the numerical and analytical solutions coincide in the limit of
small time steps. The application to different Hamiltonians shows the wide applicability
of the method to detect dynamical entanglement. To avoid the derivation of analytical
solutions for complex dynamics, we consider variational, numerical integration
schemes, introducing a variational discretization for Lagrangians linear in velocities.
Here, we examine and compare two approaches: one in which the system is discretized
before the restriction is applied, and another in which the restriction precedes
the discretization. We find that the ‘first-discretize-then-restrict’ method becomes
numerically unstable, already for the example of an exchange-interaction Hamiltonian,
which can be an important consideration for the numerical analysis of constrained
quantum dynamics. Thereby, broadly applicable numerical tools, including their
limitations, for studying entanglement over time are established for assessing
the entangling power of processes that are used in quantum information theory.
"

text: Simulating vibronic spectra is a central task in physical chemistry, offering
insight into important properties of molecules. Recently, it has been experimentally
demonstrated that photonic platforms based on Gaussian boson sampling (GBS) are
capable of performing these simulations. However, whether an actual GBS approach
is required depends on the molecule under investigation. To develop a better understanding
on the requirements for simulating vibronic spectra, we explore connections between
theoretical approximations in physical chemistry and their photonic counterparts.
Mapping these approximations into photonics, we show that for certain molecules
the GBS approach is unnecessary. We place special emphasis on the linear coupling
approximation, which in photonics corresponds to sampling from multiple coherent
states. By implementing this approach in experiments, we demonstrate improved
similarities over previously reported GBS results for formic acid and identify
the particular attributes that a molecule must exhibit for this, and other approximations,
to be valid. These results highlight the importance in forming deeper connections
between traditional methods and photonic approaches.

text: 'Scalable plasmonic technologies face a critical trade‐off: few‐body architectures
offer high enhancement but are sensitive to fabrication flaws, while scalable
methods like solid‐state dewetting yield large, low‐enhancement gaps. We introduce
a paradigm shift using a many‐body plasmonic architecture inspired by statistical
mechanics. By moving toward the continuum limit, local geometric variations are
statistically averaged out, effectively decoupling optical performance from microscopic
disorder. We implement this concept via a lithography‐ and etching‐free, multi‐step
dewetting strategy, creating wafer‐scale nanoclusters. This process strategically
forms a robust many‐body system by introducing numerous small satellite nanoparticles
between larger particles. Crucially, this design achieves a high collective enhancement
that surpasses even optimized few‐body systems, despite having larger individual
gaps. Under optimized conditions, these substrates exhibit a surface‐enhanced
Raman scattering enhancement factor approaching 4 × 10^8 with unprecedented reproducibility
(RSD of ∼10%). This scalable, low‐cost concept establishes a practical route toward
reproducible wafer‐scale nanophotonic platforms for sensing, spectroscopy, and
    quantum technologies.'

text: We introduce a method for determining the sensitivity of any given entangled
two-photon absorption (ETPA) measurement. By modeling all signal and noise contributions
to the measurement, we derive a single numerical value that describes the sensitivity
of the ETPA measurement in Göppert-Mayer units. This allows us to directly compare
vastly different experimental approaches and determine whether ETPA will be detectable
under the given conditions. Therefore we can quantify the effect of any change
to a given experimental apparatus and identify the ideal optimization pathway.

  text:
Efficient detection of near-infrared light at telecommunication wavelengths
remains a central challenge for GaAs-based photonic and optoelectronic devices
due to the absence of linear absorption below the bandgap. Here, we demonstrate
a hybrid nonlinear optoelectronic device that enhances the detection efficiency
of a (001)-oriented GaAs PIN photodiode under telecommunication-wavelength illumination,
where absorption is intrinsically limited to two-photon absorption (2PA). Our
approach relies on the integration of a transferred, nanopatterned 385 nm-thick
(111)-oriented GaAs nanofilm acting as an on-chip nonlinear frequency-conversion
layer. Elliptical GaAs nanoresonators are employed to enhance second-harmonic
generation (SHG) resonantly, converting incident 1550 nm radiation into above-bandgap
photons efficiently absorbed by the underlying diode. Spatially resolved current–voltage
measurements reveal a pronounced enhancement of the detector response in regions
covered by the nanoantennas. The device exhibits a low dark current, while the
metasurface-covered regions show the largest current response under 1560 nm excitation
compared to the bare GaAs(100) diode and the unstructured GaAs(111) film. These
results establish a direct functional link between dielectric metasurface–based
nonlinear frequency conversion and electrical photodetection, providing a viable
route toward integrated sub-bandgap detection schemes.

text: In this thesis, several aspects of high-gain multimode SU(1,1) interferometers
are theoretically investigated, with the focus being on metrological applications.
The parametric down-conversion (PDC) process utilized in these interferometers
is theoretically described via integro-differential equations describing spatial
evolution of the plane-wave operators. It is shown that for the phase sensitivity
of these interferometers, supersensitivity can be reached provided that proper
diffraction compensation is applied. The phase sensitivity improves if the gain
is increased or if the number of effective modes is decreased. This comes at the
cost of the phase-region width over which supersensitivity can be reached. Based
on the Schmidt mode structure of SU(1,1) interferometers, a processing method
is constructed which allows for the experimental retrieval of the levels of squeezing
and anti-squeezing of the multimode state generated by the first PDC section of
an SU(1,1) interferometer. It is then applied experimentally by collaborators
and is found to be in good agreement with the theoretical predictions. Finally,
SU(1,1) interferometers pumped with Laguerre-Gaussian beams are analyzed in the
context of angular displacement measurements. As either the gain, the OAM index
or the radial index of the pump are increased, the measurement uncertainty is
decreased, ultimately allowing for supersensitive measurements. Generally, the
behavior is the same as for the phase sensitivity.

text: "Taking pupils’ diverse needs into account is considered a central requirement
of inclusive education (Booth & Ainscow, 2016). These needs are—according to Ainscow’s
(2007) inclusive turn—not primarily ‘special educational needs’, but diverse needs
of all learners. For the rather segregated German educational system, this endeavour
applies especially to primary education, where needs are still developing and
pupils are not yet assigned to different types of schooling according to their
needs and abilities.\r\n\r\nDespite a substantial amount of research on pupils’
basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence and social relatedness (Ryan
et al., 2022), strategies that technology education teachers apply in this regard
are not yet well understood. Besides interventional studies on technology education,
indicating effectiveness of self‑directed and action‑oriented teaching and learning,
there is a dearth of research on how teachers address different needs as a routine.\r\n\r\nThe
purpose of the presented study is therefore to investigate and systematize actions
and strategies teachers apply, and to specify how pupils' needs are considered
when teaching technology education on a given topic.\r\n\r\nThe overall study
used a mixed-methods approach to the question how pupils’ needs are characterized
by themselves and by their teachers, and how they were taken into account in a
lesson adapted and delivered by the teachers. In the sub-study presented here,
participating primary school teachers were interviewed about their consideration
of pupils’ needs whilst planning and conducting a technology education unit on
the functionality of robots.\r\n\r\nThe results gained from qualitative content
analysis of the interviews indicate that although the anticipation of different
needs is considered challenging, teachers possess a substantiate amount of practices
and strategies to take them into account.\r\n\r\nThe paper systematizes the practices
teachers described in structured interviews within strategies and discusses the
contribution of taking basic needs into account for inclusive technology education."

text: The two-qubit controlled-not (C-NOT) gate is an essential component for gate-based
quantum circuits. In fact, its operation, combined with single qubit rotations
allows to realise any quantum circuit. Several strategies have been adopted in
order to build quantum gates. Among them, photonics offers the dual advantage
of excellent isolation from the environment and ease of manipulation at the single
qubit level. Here we adopt a scalable time-multiplexed approach in order to build
a fully reconfigurable architecture capable of implementing a post-selected C-NOT
gate with a fidelity of (93.8 ± 1.4)%. We then show how our time-multiplexed platform
can be employed to combine a C-NOT and a single qubit gate in order to generate
    the four Bell states.

text: Three‐dimensional (3D) assemblies of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) offer a rich
platform for plasmonic coupling and near‐field engineering, yet their optical
behavior is often complex due to structural disorder and fabrication‐induced variability.
Here, we present a systematic optical investigation of large‐scale 3D AuNP assemblies
fabricated via meniscus‐guided assembly, focusing on the reproducibility, spatial
uniformity, and mode evolution of their plasmonic responses. Spatially‐resolved
dark‐field scattering measurements reveal that high‐aspect‐ratio AuNP pillars
exhibit uniform scattering spectra along their height and across different pillars,
despite variations in geometry and structure. Electromagnetic simulations suggest
that this robustness arises from a collective many‐particle plasmonic response
that remains optically active despite structural perturbations. The corresponding
near‐field and surface‐charge distributions remain spatially distributed under
representative structural perturbations, consistent with volumetric averaging
across the three‐dimensional assembly. Building on this robust platform, we introduce
compositional modulation through a core–satellite architecture by incorporating
smaller AuNPs. This yields a composition‐dependent spectral redistribution, including
the emergence of an additional long‐wavelength spectral feature in the core–satellite
assemblies. Wavelength‐dependent surface‐enhanced Raman scattering measurements
reveal contrasting responses under 633 and 785 nm excitation, reflecting redistribution
of local plasmonic coupling pathways. These results provide process‐enabled guidelines
for using meniscus‐guided 3D‐nanoprinting to realize robust nanoparticle assemblies.

text: Multimode quantum light has promising applications in many areas of physics,
such as quantum communications and quantum computing. However, its multimode nature
also makes it challenging to measure its properties. Recently [I. Barakat et al.,
Optica Quantum 3, 36 (2025)], a technique for the simultaneous measurement of
squeezing of multiple broadband modes based on a phase-sensitive amplification
approach was experimentally implemented using a setup that effectively corresponds
to an SU(1,1) interferometer. Here, we aim to provide a complete theoretical analysis
of the modal structure of (generally unbalanced) SU(1,1) interferometers and a
detailed theoretical formal derivation of the framework for this technique. Utilizing
the joint Schmidt decomposition of the transfer functions, we investigate the
shape and phase profiles of the modes of the SU(1,1) interferometer and its components
[parametric down-conversion (PDC) sections] for different parametric gain regimes.
We discover a complicated interplay between the PDC modes and the modes of the
entire interferometer, and analyze it by using their overlap coefficients as a
similarity measure. Finally, we develop a rigorous processing method for the aforementioned
multimode squeezing measurement technique and discuss necessary approximations
to make this method experimentally feasible.
