text:
Requirement changes and cascading effects of change propagation are
major sources of inefficiencies in product development and increase the risk of
project failure. Proactive change management of requirement changes yields the
potential to handle such changes efficiently. A systematic approach is required
for proactive change management to assess and reduce the risk of a requirement
change with appropriate effort in industrial application. Within the paper at
hand, a novel method for Proactive Management of Requirement Changes (ProMaRC)
is presented. It is developed in close collaboration with industry experts and
evaluated based on workshops, pilot users’ feedback, three industrial case studies
from the automotive industry and five development projects from research. To limit
the application effort, an automated approach for dependency analysis based on
the machine learning technique BERT and semi-automated assessment of change likelihood
and impact using a modified PageRank algorithm is developed. Applying the method,
the risks of requirement changes are assessed systematically and reduced by means
of proactive change measures. Evaluation shows high performance of dependency
analysis and confirms the applicability and usefulness of the method. This contribution
opens up the research space of proactive risk management for requirement changes
which is currently almost unexploited. It enables more efficient product development.

ab."

text: "The requirements for the development of mechatronic systems have steadily
increased since the first version of VDI Guideline 2206 in 2004. After a comprehensive
revision, the guideline has been republished in white print. In addition to systems
thinking as a strengthened core element of the V-Modell and six control points
for structuring the factual-logical tasks, the consistently explicit \"modeling
and analysis\" is an essential innovation of the guideline. Since the control
questions only refer to the development process as a whole, the following research
question is considered by looking at the modeling of a battery system from a development
project of a German automobile manufacturer: Which specific control questions
regarding the progress of the modeling of a battery management system can be derived
from the control points of the V-model (VDI 2206:2020)?\r\nThe results of the
research are detailed control questions with regard to the modeling of a specific
system, which provide methodological support for the Model-Based Systems Engineering
of complex mechatronic systems. In addition, they enable the project management
to check the current status of the development and ensure the completeness of
the system model."

text: Sustainable product engineering is becoming increasingly important. This includes
the development of environmentally friendly products and the design for recycling.
In this paper a holistic method for the assessment of solution alternatives is
presented, in which the stakeholder perspectives along the generic product lifecycle
are taken into account. Finally, a new visualization is presented. By visualizing
the results in the integrated sustainability triangle, decision-makers in product
development can holistically assess the sustainability of the solution alternatives.

text: Workshops on business model generation lead to collaborative work phases and
discussions on business models. Therefore, tools such as the Business Model Canvas
are used, typically filled with sticky notes. Generated content needs to be digitized
in a time-consuming manual follow-up as part of the documentation and basis for
a further use of the results in the company. In addition, there are challenges,
such as decentralized work and digital workshop formats. Augmented Reality offers
a way to reduce the digitization effort and enables decentralized work. In this
research, the potentials of the use of AR technology in workshops on business
model generation is investigated. Therefore, functions are implemented and evaluated
in a demonstrator that reduces digitization effort and enable distributed work.

text: The ongoing transformation of industrial production by conditions of the fourth
industrial revolution creates new product- and production technologies. Self-organized,
decentralized and flexible production systems change the framework conditions
for product development methodologies. In addition to increasing interdisciplinarity,
methods to enable and to support the product development process must be developed
despite changing or additional conditions to ensure effective and efficient development. This
thesis focuses on the use case of Self-Organizing Production Systems (SOPS). The
interdisciplinary product development for mechatronic and cyber-physical systems
with the V-model of the VDI guideline 2206, is extended by a method for consideration
of self-organizing production systems in early phases of interdisciplinary product
development (CoSOPS). For the specific use case of SOPS, the method enables both
the strategic and the productrelated analysis of the individual potentials for
the use of SOPS. For this purpose, specific requirements for the method as well
as influences of SOPS on the product development process were elaborated and analyzed
in this thesis. The new CoSOPS method is described in detail and the results are
validated in a structured evaluation.

text: "In innovation management, usually there is a large number of product ideas,
not all of which meet the requirements of a company and make sense to pursue further.
For selecting the most promising ideas, several methods exist which each focus
on a certain aspect. Due to the characteristics of Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs) such as limited resources, these enterprises have special requirements
on methods for selecting ideas. In this study, criteria of SMEs for idea selection
are deducted from SME-characteristics. Methods for idea selection are tested for
fulfillment of these criteria and the results are combined in a matrix. Together
with a guideline, a tool for idea selection in innovation management of SMEs is
developed. The results are validated in the context of innovation management in
SMEs. By selecting a method, a SME is enabled to make economically viable decisions
for their product portfolio, thus\r\nensuring sustainable economic success."

untersucht.

text: Globalization poses challenges for companies that operate internationally
with distributed working groups. Creativity is a decisive factor for companies
to design new products and services and to stand out from the competition on this
basis. Community platforms are already in place to support distributed working
groups in their creativity, which increase collaboration to solve problems. A
direct method for stimulating the creativity of distributed groups does not yet
exist. Virtual Reality (VR) technology offers the potential to support increased
creativity on the basis of visual stimulation. The aim of this work is the investigation
of the framework conditions for the design of a VR based creativity technique
and, based on this, the development of the "Reizumgebungsmethode", which is supported
by a VR based tool. The basis for the framework resultsfrom the state of the art
in the areas of creativity, distributed working groups and teams and VR. Influential
factors are analyzed from these areas, design guidelines are developed and these
are categorized for the components of the creativity technique. On the basis of
the design guidelines, the "Reizumgebungsmethode", consisting of the components
creativity process, VR based tool and virtual creative environments, is developed.
The developed "Reizumgebungsmetode"is examined in the form of a three-stage validation.

text: In developing complex technical systems, requirements are subject to continuous
change. Systematic and holistic change impact analysis and proactive measures
are required for reducing the number of requirement changes and their negative
impact. There is no method to analyse the holistic impact of a requirement change
in the context of developing complex technical systems. Holistic analysis requires
to consider the local effects of requirement changes as well as effects from change
propagation. To develop an approach for holistic change propagation and impact
analysis, twelve performance goals are defined. Those are derived from a state
of research analysis as well as an industry workshop. A three-step method is proposed.
Firstly, requirement dependencies that cause change propagation are detected.
Secondly, critical requirements are automatically identified based on a Page Rank
algorithm. Thirdly, change impact of critical requirements is analysed based on
a guideline. Validation proves that ten goals are fulfilled and two are partly
fulfilled. The method addresses major shortcomings of preceding research and enables
sound decision making for development engineers both before a change occurs and
during decision process on a change request. This helps to reduce negative change
impact in development projects and the risk of project failure.

text:
Abstract
Innovation projects are characterized
by numerous uncertainties. Typical concepts in development management like the
application of safety coefficients imply limitations of the solution space. In
contrast, explicit handling of uncertainties can support engineers in understanding
the problem space and in utilising the full potential of the design space along
iterative product development steps. As a result from literature analysis, there
is a lack of a support for product development that addresses the specific problem
of uncertainty and risk in the context of requirement changes. The aim of the
contribution at hand is to enhance the efficient development of complex interdisciplinary
systems by enabling uncertainty handling in requirements change management. Based
on a classification of uncertainty types resulting in a descriptive model, risk
management measures are identified to support requirements engineers. The proposed
method includes identification & modelling, analysis, treatment and monitoring
of risks and counter-measures. By applying this method, engineers are supported
in adopting agile approaches and enabling flexible Requirements Engineering.
