[{"abstract":[{"text":"
Individuals after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) have a high rate of reinjury upon return to competitive sports. Deficits in motor control may influence reinjury risk and can be addressed during rehabilitation with motor learning strategies. When instructing patients in performing motor tasks after ACLR, an external focus of attention directed to the intended movement effect has been shown to be more effective in reducing reinjury risk than an internal focus of attention on body movements. While this concept is mostly agreed upon, recent literature has made it clear that the interpretation and implementation of an external focus of attention within ACLR rehabilitation needs to be better described. The purpose of this commentary is to provide a clinical framework for the application of attentional focus strategies and guide clinicians towards effectively utilizing an external focus of attention in rehabilitation after ACLR.
Level of Evidence
5
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy","issue":"6","department":[{"_id":"17"}],"keyword":["Rehabilitation","Orthopedics and Sports Medicine","Physical Therapy","Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-05-19T09:11:32Z","intvolume":" 16","date_updated":"2023-05-19T09:13:47Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2159-2896"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Singh, Harjiv","first_name":"Harjiv","last_name":"Singh"},{"full_name":"Gokeler, Alli","last_name":"Gokeler","first_name":"Alli"},{"full_name":"Benjaminse, Anne","first_name":"Anne","last_name":"Benjaminse"}],"title":"Effective Attentional Focus Strategies after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Commentary","year":"2021","doi":"10.26603/001c.29848","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"citation":{"mla":"Singh, Harjiv, et al. “Effective Attentional Focus Strategies after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Commentary.” <i>International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy</i>, vol. 16, no. 6, International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy, 2021, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.26603/001c.29848\">10.26603/001c.29848</a>.","ama":"Singh H, Gokeler A, Benjaminse A. Daher bildet den Schwerpunkt des vorliegenden Scoping-Reviews, die Untersuchung der Bedeutung wettkampfbezogener (state) Emotionen von Sporttreibenden.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"German Journal of Exercise and Sport Research","issue":"3"},{"status":"public","volume":67,"user_id":"80673","publisher":"Hogrefe Publishing Group","_id":"37786","page":"349-363","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"ieee":"A. In several kinds of sports, deceptive actions are used to hinder the anticipation performance of an opponent. During a head fake in basketball, a player turns the head to one side but passes the ball to the other side. A pass with a head fake generates a head-fake effect in the observer, which is characterized by slower and more error-prone responses to the pass direction as compared to passes without a head fake. Whereas the head-fake effect has been replicated several times, the question of its origin with dynamic stimuli has not been answered yet. The present study includes four experiments, which are conducted to examine the perceptual-cognitive mechanism underlying the effect by using the model of dimensional overlap ( Kornblum et al., 1990 ) and the additive factors logic ( Sternberg, 1969 ). Results point to multiple processes contributing to the head-fake effect for dynamic stimuli, which operate not only at a perceptual level but also at a level of response selection.
","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"6","publication":"Experimental Psychology","department":[{"_id":"266"},{"_id":"17"}],"keyword":["General Psychology","Arts and Humanities (miscellaneous)","Experimental and Cognitive Psychology","General Medicine"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-01-20T14:28:14Z"},{"doi":"https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0251117","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"intvolume":" 16","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-09-12T09:29:46Z","author":[{"full_name":"Polzien, Andrea","first_name":"Andrea","last_name":"Polzien"},{"first_name":"Iris","last_name":"Güldenpenning","orcid":"0000-0003-0549-5543","full_name":"Güldenpenning, Iris","id":"52931"},{"id":"36388","first_name":"Matthias","last_name":"Weigelt","full_name":"Weigelt, Matthias"}],"year":"2021","title":"A question of (perfect) timing: A preceding head turn increases the head-fake effect in basketball","department":[{"_id":"266"},{"_id":"17"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-08-25T13:41:52Z","issue":"5","publication":"Plos one","volume":16,"user_id":"80673","_id":"46720","publisher":"Public Library of Science San Francisco, CA USA","page":"e0251117","status":"public","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"ieee":"A. A lack of physical activity in childhood and deficits in motor performance emphasize the relevance of interventions for promoting basic motor competencies. However, there are research desiderata with regard to such interventions. This article describes an intervention program for promoting basic motor competencies in middle childhood (around 6 to 10 years of age). The intervention was investigated in a longitudinal study from June 2019 to January 2020 (n = 200; 58% girls, M = 8.84 years, SD = 0.63) at three primary schools. The intervention was conducted once a week in physical education (PE). The comparison group participated in regular PE. The intervention showed significant effects on basic motor competencies in object movement but not in self-movement. The results demonstrate that positive effects on basic motor competencies can be achieved with the help of a relatively simple intervention. Further longitudinal studies are desirable as a means of substantiating the results and developing evidence-based concepts to support children in their development in the best possible way.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health","issue":"14","department":[{"_id":"318"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Health","Toxicology and Mutagenesis","Public Health","Environmental and Occupational Health"],"date_created":"2023-03-03T13:55:55Z","intvolume":" 18","article_type":"original","date_updated":"2023-09-19T10:06:58Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1660-4601"]},"author":[{"id":"58723","orcid":"0000-0002-6830-9245","first_name":"Anne","last_name":"Strotmeyer","full_name":"Strotmeyer, Anne"},{"full_name":"Kehne, Miriam","first_name":"Miriam","last_name":"Kehne","id":"129"},{"first_name":"Christian","last_name":"Herrmann","full_name":"Herrmann, Christian"}],"title":"Effects of an Intervention for Promoting Basic Motor Competencies in Middle Childhood","year":"2021","doi":"10.3390/ijerph18147343","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"7343"},{"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"chicago":"Polzien, A., Iris Güldenpenning, and Matthias Weigelt. “Repeating Head Fakes in Basketball: Temporal Aspects Affect the Congruency-Sequence Effect.” In <i>Abstracts of the 63rd Conference of Experimental Psychologists (TeaP)</i>, edited by A. The survey was online until 21 November 2019 and included twenty-two questions, which were divided into five sections: 1) general importance of prevention (n = 4), 2) specifications of the study population (n = 3), 3) implementation of prevention (n = 8), 4) improvement opportunities in prevention (n = 4) and 5) future research areas (n = 3).
Results A total of 272 participants completed the survey, representing a total survey participation of 17.7 % of all members. The study population consisted of orthopaedic surgeons (55 % with surgical and 21 % with non-operative orientation), medical students (10 %), physical therapists (8 %) and sports scientists (4 %). Ninety-four percent of all participants stated that they considered the importance of sports injury prevention to be “very high” (68 %) or “high” (26 %). However, almost 70 % of all participants stated that they spend less than one hour per week on injury prevention work. The term “prevention” was clearly defined and practicable for only 40 %, understandable but difficult to implement for 51 %, and unclear and difficult to implement for 9 % of the participants. Seventy-two percent of respondents were aware of existing prevention programs such as “Stop-X” or “FIFA 11 +”, whereas 28 % of participants were uninformed regarding these programs.
Conclusions A strong divergence was identified between participants’ perception of the importance of sports injury prevention and the existing implementation of preventive measures. Future funding of prevention programs, expansion of research strategies for injury prevention and better financial reimbursement are of utmost importance.
","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"02","publication":"Sportverletzung · Sportschaden","department":[{"_id":"172"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2025-02-19T18:36:13Z","intvolume":" 35","date_updated":"2025-02-19T18:36:26Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0932-0555","1439-1236"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Lutter, Christoph","last_name":"Lutter","first_name":"Christoph"},{"first_name":"R","last_name":"Seil","full_name":"Seil, R"},{"full_name":"Best, R","first_name":"R","last_name":"Best"},{"last_name":"Gokeler","first_name":"A","full_name":"Gokeler, A"},{"full_name":"Patt, T","first_name":"T","last_name":"Patt"},{"last_name":"Krutsch","first_name":"W","full_name":"Krutsch, W"},{"last_name":"Grim","first_name":"C","full_name":"Grim, C"},{"last_name":"Tischer","first_name":"T","full_name":"Tischer, T"}],"title":"Results of a tri-national online survey on the current status of sports injury prevention among members of the German-Speaking Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Society (GOTS)","year":"2021","doi":"10.1055/a-1397-0710","language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"citation":{"chicago":"Lutter, Christoph, R Seil, R Best, A Gokeler, T Patt, W Krutsch, C Grim, and T Tischer. “Results of a tri-national online survey on the current status of sports injury prevention among members of the German-Speaking Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Society (GOTS).” <i>Sportverletzung · Sportschaden</i> 35, no. 02 (2021): 80–87. <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1055/a-1397-0710\">https://doi.org/10.1055/a-1397-0710</a>.","ama":"Lutter C, Seil R, Best R, et al.
