Disadvantages of LS are the low material variety and the thermal damage of the unprocessed
material. The low temperature laser sintering attacks at this point and processes powder material at
a build chamber temperature lower than the recrystallization temperature. This drastic reduction in
temperature results in significantly less thermal damage to the material. This work deals with the
low temperature laser sintering of Polyamide 12 (PA12) on a commercial, unmodified laser
sintering system to compare it to standard laser sintered PA12 and to create the basis for low
temperature laser sintering of high temperature materials on such a system. First results by
changing the exposure parameters and by fixing parts on a building platform show a processing of
PA12 on an EOS P396 at a build chamber temperature less than 100 °C instead of standard approx.

Such structures can be fabricated through epitaxial lift-off using selective etching of Al-containing layers and subsequent transfer to glass substrates. Herein, the selective etching of (111)B-oriented AlxGa1−xAs sacrificial layers (10–50 nm thick) with different aluminum concentrations (x = 0.5–1.0) in 10\% hydrofluoric acid is investigated and compared with standard (100)-oriented structures. The thinner the sacrificial layer and the lower the aluminum content, the lower the lateral etch rate. For both orientations, the lateral etch rates are in the same order of magnitude, but some quantitative differences exist. Furthermore, the epitaxial lift-off, the transfer, and the nanopatterning of thin (111)B-oriented GaAs membranes are demonstrated. Atomic force microscopy and high-resolution X-ray diffraction measurements reveal the high structural quality of the transferred GaAs-(111) films.}},

abstract = {{Topological states of light represent counterintuitive optical modes localized at boundaries of finite-size optical structures that originate from the properties of the bulk. Being defined by bulk properties, such boundary states are insensitive to certain types of perturbations, thus naturally enhancing robustness of photonic circuitries. Conventionally, the N-dimensional bulk modes correspond to (N – 1)-dimensional boundary states. The higher-order bulk-boundary correspondence relates N-dimensional bulk to boundary states with dimensionality reduced by more than 1. A special interest lies in miniaturization of such higher-order topological states to the nanoscale. Here, we realize nanoscale topological corner states in metasurfaces with C6-symmetric honeycomb lattices. We directly observe nanoscale topology-empowered edge and corner localizations of light and enhancement of light–matter interactions via a nonlinear imaging technique. Control of light at the nanoscale empowered by topology may facilitate miniaturization and on-chip integration of classical and quantum photonic devices.}},

Owing to huge band offsets, the structures offer resonant transitions in the telecom window around 1.55 µm. These heterostructures are functionalized with an array of plasmonic antennas featuring cross-polarized resonances at these near-infrared wavelengths and their second harmonic. This kind of nonlinear metasurface allows for substantial second-harmonic generation at normal incidence which is completely absent for an antenna array without the multi-quantum well structure underneath. While the second harmonic is originally radiated only into the plane of the quantum wells, a proper geometrical arrangement of the plasmonic elements permits the redirection of the second-harmonic light to free-space radiation, which is emitted perpendicular to the surface.}},

The miniaturized sensor platform called Sens-o-Spheres is used as an application of this locating method. The sensor platform is applied in bioreactors in order to obtain the environmental parameters, which makes a localization by magnetic fields necessary. Since the properties of magnetic fields in the localization area are very different from the wave characteristics, the principle of inductive localization is investigated in this publication and explained by using electrical equivalent circuit diagrams. Thereby, inductive localization uses the coupling or the mutual inductivities between coils, which is noticeable by an induced voltage. Therefore some properties and procedures are explained to extract the location of Sens-o-Spheres or other industrial sensor platforms from the couplings of the coils. One method calculates the location from an adapted ratio calculation and the other method uses neural networks and stochastic filters to obtain the results. In the end, these results are evaluated and compared.}},

abstract = {{During the industrial processing of materials for the manufacture of new products, surface defects can quickly occur. In order to achieve high quality without a long time delay, it makes sense to inspect the work pieces so that defective work pieces can be sorted out right at the beginning of the process. At the same time, the evaluation unit should come close the perception of the human eye regarding detection of defects in surfaces. Such defects often manifest themselves by a deviation of the existing structure. The only restriction should be that only matt surfaces should be considered here. Therefore in this work, different classification and image processing algorithms are applied to surface data to identify possible surface damages. For this purpose, the Gabor filter and the FST (Fused Structure and Texture) features generated with it, as well as the salience metric are used on the image processing side. On the classification side, however, deep neural networks, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), and autoencoders are used to make a decision. A distinction is also made between training using class labels and without. It turns out later that the salience metric are best performed by CNN. On the other hand, if there is no labeled training data available, a novelty classification can easily be achieved by using autoencoders as well as the salience metric and some filters.}},

The advantage of inductive localization is the usage of the magnetic fields, which have a very low influence of non-metallic materials in the environment and thus follows good applications in the area of medicine and biochemistry. This allows a precise localization of sensor platforms in inhomogeneous mixtures of materials, where classical methods have major problems with inhomogeneous dielectric conductivity or density. The calculation of the localization of the searched object differs from other methods such as ultrasound or electromagnetic waves due to the source-free propagation of the magnetic field. Therefore, new mathematical evaluation methods and systematic adaptations are necessary, which are presented in this paper in circuit analysis. For this purpose, the exact circuit influences of one coil and the influence of another coil are investigated and which resonance circuit should be selected for both coils for a inductive localization with optimized signal strength.}},
