text: The Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) process by Stratasys is an additive manufacturing
(AM) technique that can be used to produce complex thermoplastic parts without
the need of a forming tool. A big challenge of this process is that there are
several influencing factors with unknown effect on the resulting part properties.
One of these factors is the layer time. The aim of this study is to examine the
influence of the layer time on the resulting dimensional accuracy and mechanical
properties of FDM components manufactured with the amorphous polymer ABS-M30.
For this purpose a special job layout was designed to vary the layer time within
a certain range. The investigations in this paper show a significant influence
on the dimensional accuracy and also on the mechanical properties.

text: "Molecular Dynamic (MD) simulations are computationally intensive and accelerating
them using specialized hardware is a topic of investigation in many studies. One
of the routines in the critical path of MD simulations is the three-dimensional
Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT3d). The potential in accelerating FFT3d using
hardware is usually bound by bandwidth and memory. Therefore, designing a high
throughput solution for an FPGA that overcomes this problem is challenging.\r\nIn
this thesis, the feasibility of offloading FFT3d computations to FPGA implemented
using OpenCL is investigated. In order to mask the latency in memory access, an
FFT3d that overlaps computation with communication is designed. The implementa-
tion of this design is synthesized for the Arria 10 GX 1150 FPGA and evaluated
with the FFTW benchmark. Analysis shows a better performance using FPGA over CPU
for larger FFT sizes, with the 643 FFT showing a 70% improvement in runtime using
FPGAs.\r\nThis FFT3d design is integrated with CP2K to explore the potential in
accelerating molecular dynamic simulations. Evaluation of CP2K simulations using
FPGA shows a 41% improvement in runtime in FFT3d computations over CPU for larger
    FFT3d designs."

text: We have investigated the stacking of self-assembled cubic GaN quantum dots
(QDs) grown in Stranski–Krastanov (SK) growth mode. The number of stacked layers
is varied to compare their optical properties. The growth is in situ controlled
by reflection high energy electron diffraction to prove the SK QD growth. Atomic
force and transmission electron microscopy show the existence of wetting layer
and QDs with a diameter of about 10 nm and a height of about 2 nm. The QDs have
a truncated pyramidal form and are vertically aligned in growth direction. Photoluminescence
measurements show an increase of the intensity with increasing number of stacked
QD layers. Furthermore, a systematic blue-shift of 120 meV is observed with increasing
number of stacked QD layers. This blueshift derives from a decrease in the QD
height, because the QD height has also been the main confining dimension in our
    QDs.

begründet also eigentlich keine sog. digitale Bibliothek, sondern eine hybride
Bibliothek.
    Bibliotheken, Detmold, 8. September 2016."

text: Digitization produces ‚hybrid‘ objects that are readable as digital data files
but at the same time still ‚contain‘ the original cultural-historical object.
In this perspective, ‚digital collections‘, ‚digital libraries‘, etc. are in fact
hybrid collections, or libraries. For musical artefacts, the range of historical
media is especially complex, which again concerns the digital world. Digital Humanities
publications also contribute to the complex and confusing situation as they themselves
are not only ‚information‘, but as a rule, complex and hybrid textual systems
that often contain complete digitized re-publications of cultural objects, providing
them with digital ‚inscriptions‘, and interlinking them. So the hybridity of ‚digital
libraries‘ increases as soon as Digital Humanities publications are integrated.
Therefore, metadata should mirror precisely the hybrid nature of the digitized/digital
    objects catalogued.

text: The design of additively manufactured components requires a rethinking in
the design process. This is inhibited by a lack of knowledge about additive manufacturing
technologies. For this reason, a large number of design guidelines have been developed
in recent years. In their present form the design guidelines are not suitable
for processing in a software algorithm, since the guidelines have a certain redundancy
and partly influence each other. This paper describes several steps to consolidate
the existing guidelines and to prepare them in a way that they can be used in
a software algorithm for a design check. Therefore, existing guidelines are collected,
prioritized and quantified with regard to their relevance for a robust production.
To quantify the guidelines, test specimens are developed, produced and evaluated
in order to obtain a limit value for the geometric properties. With these limit
values, quantifiable design guidelines can be applied to designers and software
    tools.
