  text: We introduce photon-statistics excitation spectroscopy and exemplarily apply
    it to a quantum-dot micropillar laser. Both the intensity and the photon number
    statistics of the emission from the micropillar show a strong dependence on the
    photon statistics of the light used for excitation of the sample. The results
    under coherent and pseudothermal excitation reveal that a description of the laser
    properties in terms of mean input photon numbers is not sufficient. It is demonstrated
    that the micropillar acts as a superthermal light source when operated close to
    its threshold. Possible applications for important spectroscopic techniques are
    discussed.

  text: "The use of heterogeneous computing resources, such as graphics processing
    units or other specialized co-processors, has become widespread in recent years
    because of their performance and energy efficiency advantages. Operating system
    approaches that are limited to optimizing CPU usage are no longer sufficient for
    the efficient utilization of systems that comprise diverse resource types.\r\n\r\nEnabling
    task preemption on these architectures and migration of tasks between different
    resource types at run-time is not only key to improving the performance and energy
    consumption but also to enabling automatic scheduling methods for heterogeneous
    compute nodes.\r\n\r\nThis thesis proposes novel techniques for run-time management
    of heterogeneous resources and enabling tasks to migrate between diverse hardware.
    It provides fundamental work towards future operating systems by discussing implications,
    limitations, and chances of the heterogeneity and introducing solutions for energy-
    and performance-efficient run-time systems. Scheduling methods to utilize heterogeneous
    systems by the use of a centralized scheduler are presented that show benefits
    over existing approaches in varying case studies."

    in phase space is a fractal set. We first show that there is a well-defined discrete
    spectrum of Ruelle resonances which describes the asymptotic of correlation functions
    for large time and which is parametrized by the Fourier component <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic
    xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="gif" xlink:type="simple"
    xlink:href="S0143385715000346_inline2" /><jats:tex-math>$\unicode[STIX]{x1D708}$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>
    in the neutral direction of the dynamics. We introduce a specific hypothesis on
    the dynamics that we call ‘minimal captivity’. This hypothesis is stable under
    perturbations and means that the dynamics is univalued in a neighborhood of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic
    xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="gif" xlink:type="simple"
    xlink:href="S0143385715000346_inline3" /><jats:tex-math>${\mathcal{K}}$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>.
    Under this hypothesis we show the existence of an asymptotic spectral gap and
    a fractal Weyl law for the upper bound of density of Ruelle resonances in the
    semiclassical limit <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic
    xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="gif" xlink:type="simple"
    xlink:href="S0143385715000346_inline4" /><jats:tex-math>$\unicode[STIX]{x1D708}\rightarrow
    \infty$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>. Some numerical
    computations with the truncated Gauss map and Bowen–Series maps illustrate these

  text: Free networks are established and maintained by more and more people on a
    voluntary basis to be independent from commercial providers. This also enables
    an uncensored communication and leads to a network owned by a community. Freifunk
    is such a project and it is based on wireless mesh networks. All participants
    provide an own wifi router (node) for transferring data between different devices.
    The routing protocol used in the Freifunk network of Paderborn is called Better
    Approach To Mobile Ad-hoc Networking advanced (B.A.T.M.A.N. IV or Batman-adv).
    It uses so called Originator Messages (OGM) to announce the existence of a node
    and to measure the quality of different links in the network. The Freifunk network
    in Paderborn consists of about 800 nodes that periodically broadcast OGMs. This
    leads to a substantial base load of ∼25 GByte per month and node. Instead of performing
    modifications in the real network, I create a simulation model of the current
    network structure and implement version IV of the B.A.T.M.A.N. routing protocol.
    The model is validated by using data from the real network. Based on this model
    I propose and evaluate five different opportunities to improve the base load without
    impairing other functionality of the network. The simulation results show that
    a combination of two improvements can lead to a reduction up to 90 %.
