Using data from the representative German Time Use Survey 2001/02 and 2012/13, three different pairs were formed: dual-earner couples, couples with additional female income and male-breadwinner couples Findings show that mother’s employment influences the time used for everyday food routines: It was found that the higher the employment rate of mothers, the less time was spent on food routine activities. Furthermore, the daily time used for everyday food routines was reduced from 2001/02 to 2012/13. The largest reductions were seen in the group of mothers working fulltime. Besides that, fathers were more engaged in meal preparation on the weekends, although the responsibility was the mother’s. In addition, the age and number of children in a household influenced the time used for everyday food routines. However, none of the examined pair constellations can help determine an egalitarian division of everyday food routines.
","lang":"eng"}],"status":"public","publication":"Journal of Family Research","type":"journal_article","title":"Essalltag und Arbeitsteilung von Eltern in Paarbeziehungen – Eine quantitative Analyse auf Basis der repräsentativen Zeitverwendungsdaten 2012/13 und 2001/02","doi":"10.3224/zff.v29i2.03","date_updated":"2022-01-06T06:57:30Z","author":[{"first_name":"Nina","full_name":"Klünder, Nina","id":"91015","last_name":"Klünder"},{"full_name":"Meier-Gräwe, Uta","last_name":"Meier-Gräwe","first_name":"Uta"}],"date_created":"2021-10-26T06:57:26Z","year":"2017","page":"179-201","citation":{"apa":"Klünder, N., & Meier-Gräwe, U. We assessed the effects of a primary school-based initiative targeted at enhancing physical activity and dietary education among children with a high proportion of migration background.
\r\nMethods Four 3rd and 4th grade classes (n=70 children, 77% with migration background) participated in a 10-months intervention comprising 2 additional exercise lessons weekly and 10 nutrition lessons per school year. 6 school classes (n=125 children, 65% with migration background) served as control. Before and after the intervention, an assessment of physical fitness and motor skills and questionnaires on dietary behavior and knowledge were conducted. In a subgroup (n=37), after 6 months of the intervention, daily physical activity was assessed by accelerometer-based monitoring. Differences in changes between the groups were assessed using linear regression analyses.
\r\nResults Changes between the 2 time points for fitness and motor skill tests (differences in standard deviation scores) were larger in the intervention than in the control group for the total mean test value (β=0.38, p<0.001), driven by higher improvements in 5 of the 8 test items, i.e., obstacle race (speed) (β=0.22, p=0.049), standing long jump (strength) (β=0.35, p<0.001), sit-ups (strength) (β=0.33, p=0.002), stand and reach (mobility) (β=0.22, p=0.042), and 6 min run (endurance) (β=0.40, p<0.001), independently of confounders. Changes in dietary knowledge and consumption frequencies did not differ between groups.
\r\nConclusions Promoting guided physical activity in a primary school setting with a high proportion of children with migration background positively affected parameters of fitness and motor skills.
"}],"status":"public","date_updated":"2022-01-06T06:57:44Z","date_created":"2021-11-23T16:59:43Z","author":[{"first_name":"Katharina","full_name":"Weber, Katharina","last_name":"Weber"},{"first_name":"Olaf","last_name":"Spörkel","full_name":"Spörkel, Olaf"},{"last_name":"Mertens","full_name":"Mertens, Melina","first_name":"Melina"},{"first_name":"Alem","full_name":"Freese, Alem","last_name":"Freese"},{"full_name":"Strassburger, Klaus","last_name":"Strassburger","first_name":"Klaus"},{"first_name":"Boris","full_name":"Kemper, Boris","last_name":"Kemper"},{"last_name":"Bachmann","full_name":"Bachmann, Clemens","first_name":"Clemens"},{"last_name":"Diehlmann","full_name":"Diehlmann, Knut","first_name":"Knut"},{"last_name":"Stemper","full_name":"Stemper, Theodor","first_name":"Theodor"},{"first_name":"Anette","last_name":"Buyken","full_name":"Buyken, Anette","id":"65985"},{"full_name":"Ketelhut, Kerstin","last_name":"Ketelhut","first_name":"Kerstin"},{"full_name":"Müssig, Karsten","last_name":"Müssig","first_name":"Karsten"}],"title":"Positive Effects of Promoting Physical Activity and Balanced Diets in a Primary School Setting with a High Proportion of Migrant School Children","doi":"10.1055/s-0043-101918","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0947-7349","1439-3646"]},"year":"2017","citation":{"ama":"Weber K, Spörkel O, Mertens M, et al.
