The question arises if this is also true for the performance in mental body-rotation tasks (MBRT).\r\nAIM: Taking the embodied cognition approach into account, the first aim of the present study was to examine the potential influence of different demands on dynamic stability for two postures (parallel stand vs. tandem stand) on solving two versions of the MBRT, inducing either an object-based or an egocentric perspective transformation strategy. The second aim was to investigate if these different demands on dynamic stability are reflected in postural sway parameters.\r\nMETHOD: Thirty participants (18 females and 12 males) were tested in the two MBRTs and in a control condition. All tasks were performed while standing on a balance beam in tandem stand and in a feet parallel position on a force plate.\r\nRESULTS: The results for response time and response error revealed effects of rotation angle and task, but no effect of posture. The analyzed Center of Pressure (CoP) data revealed a reduction of body sway during the MBRT for egocentric perspective transformations.\r\nCONCLUSION: The results indicate that participants performed better for egocentric than for object-based transformations and that the egocentric transformation leads to more postural stability than the object-based.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2023-10-12T09:56:33Z","department":[{"_id":"266"},{"_id":"17"}],"type":"journal_article"},{"editor":[{"full_name":"Huckauf, Anke","first_name":"Anke","last_name":"Huckauf"},{"full_name":"Baumann, Martin","last_name":"Baumann","first_name":"Martin"},{"full_name":"Ernst, Marc","last_name":"Ernst","first_name":"Marc"},{"first_name":"Cornelia","last_name":"Herbert","full_name":"Herbert, Cornelia"},{"full_name":"Kiefer, Markus","last_name":"Kiefer","first_name":"Markus"},{"full_name":"Sauter, Marian","first_name":"Marian","last_name":"Sauter"}],"doi":"10.23668/PSYCHARCHIVES.5178","user_id":"23188","_id":"48037","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"page":"50","date_updated":"2023-10-12T10:33:56Z","conference":{"location":"Ulm","name":"TeaP 2021 - 63rd Conference of Experimental Psychologists","start_date":"2021-03-14","end_date":"2021-03-17"},"author":[{"id":"23188","last_name":"Budde","first_name":"Kirsten","full_name":"Budde, Kirsten"},{"first_name":"José A","last_name":"Barela","full_name":"Barela, José A"},{"full_name":"Figueiredo, Gabriella A","last_name":"Figueiredo","first_name":"Gabriella A"},{"id":"36388","full_name":"Weigelt, Matthias","first_name":"Matthias","last_name":"Weigelt"}],"title":"Mental body rotation with egocentric and object-based transformations in different postures: sitting vs. standing.","status":"public","year":"2021","department":[{"_id":"266"},{"_id":"17"}],"type":"conference_abstract","date_created":"2023-10-12T10:16:24Z","citation":{"short":"K. More than 40,000 matches before and during the pandemic, including more than 1,000 professional matches without spectators across the main European football leagues, have been analyzed. Results support the notion of a crowd-induced referee bias as the increased sanctioning of away teams disappears in the absence of spectators with regard to fouls (p &lt; .001), yellow cards (p &lt; .001), and red cards (p &lt; .05). Moreover, the match dominance of home teams decreases significantly as indicated by shots (p &lt; .001) and shots on target (p &lt; .01). In terms of the home advantage itself, surprisingly, only a non-significant decrease is found. While the present paper supports prior research with regard to a crowd-induced referee bias, spectators thus do not seem to be the main driving factor of the home advantage. Results from amateur football, being naturally played in absence of a crowd, provide further evidence that the home advantage is predominantly caused by factors not directly or indirectly attributable to a noteworthy number of spectators.
"}],"date_created":"2023-01-20T14:25:45Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Multidisciplinary"],"department":[{"_id":"266"}]},{"volume":15,"user_id":"75770","_id":"37772","publisher":"Brazilian Journal for Motor Behavior","page":"180-194","status":"public","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"short":"K. The analyzed Center of Pressure (CoP) data revealed a reduction of body sway during the MBRT for egocentric perspective transformations.\r\nCONCLUSION: The results indicate that participants performed better for egocentric than for object-based transformations and that the egocentric transformation leads to more postural stability than the object-based.
"}],"issue":"3","publication":"Brazilian Journal of Motor Behavior"},{"status":"public","user_id":"75770","volume":54,"page":"5384-5403","_id":"37778","publisher":"Wiley","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Krause_Richert_Weigelt_2021, title={Neurophysiology of embodied mental rotation: Event‐related potentials in a mental rotation task with human bodies as compared to alphanumeric stimuli}, volume={54}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1111/ejn.15383\">10.1111/ejn.15383</a>}, number={4}, journal={European Journal of Neuroscience}, publisher={Wiley}, author={Krause, Daniel and Richert, Benjamin and Weigelt, Matthias}, year={2021}, pages={5384–5403} }","ama":"Krause D, Richert B, Weigelt M. Therefore, the purpose was 1) to detect DT effects of central gait parameters obtained from five different gait analysis devices in young and old adults, 2) to assess the consistency of the measurement systems, and 3) to determine if the absolut and proportional DT costs (DTC) are greater than the system-measurement error under ST.
\r\n
\r\n
Methods
\r\n
Twelve old (72.2 ± 7.9y) and 14 young adults (28.3 ± 6.2y) walked a 14.7-m distance under ST and DT at a self-selected gait velocity.
