  text: In this paper, the influence of the environment on an inductive location system
    is analyzed. In the inductive location method, high frequency magnetic fields
    generated by planar coils lead to induction in other coils, which is used for
    localization analysis. Magnetic fields are not affected by changes in the dielectric
    properties of the environment, which is an advantage over other localization methods.
    However, electrical material parameters can still affect the localization results
    by indirect effects. For this reason, in this publication the influence will be
    investigated using real material parameters and their effects on the localization
    will be considered, so that the robustness and the limits of the inductive localization
    can be evaluated.

  text: "This paper experimentally investigates and interprets the e®ects of noise
    and non-\r\nlinearity in a silicon photonic optical test structure. For the analysis
    di®erent optoelectronic phase\r\nnoise measurement techniques are used. Our tests
    focuses on the performance of integrated opti-\r\ncal test structures using femtosecond
    pulses in the 1550nm spectral range. A primary objective\r\nis to understand the
    behaviour of silicon photonic waveguides that can be further employed in the\r\nimplementation
    of an optoelectronic phase-locked loop (OEPLL) in silicon photonics technology.\r\nA
    comparison of our results, as well as a discussion on the di®erent optoelectronic
    phase noise\r\nmeasurement techniques are presented. Our ¯ndings provide insights
    that can be leveraged to\r\noptimize the design and performance of ultra-low phase
    noise on-chip OEPLL systems locking\r\nto mode-locked laser (MLL) signals. In
    the future such systems can be essential for advanced\r\ncommunication and sensing
    applications."

  text: "\tWe propose a general framework to compute the word error rate (WER) of
    ASR systems that process recordings containing multiple speakers at their input
    and that produce multiple output word sequences (MIMO).\r\n\tSuch ASR systems
    are typically required, e.g., for meeting transcription.\r\n\tWe provide an efficient
    implementation based on a dynamic programming search in a multi-dimensional Levenshtein
    distance tensor under the constraint that a reference utterance must be matched
    consistently with one hypothesis output. \r\n\tThis also results in an efficient
    implementation of the ORC WER which previously suffered from exponential complexity.\r\n\tWe
    give an overview of commonly used WER definitions for multi-speaker scenarios
    and show that they are specializations of the above MIMO WER tuned to particular
    application scenarios. \r\n\tWe conclude with a  discussion of the pros and cons
    of the various WER definitions and a recommendation when to use which."

  text: "MeetEval is an open-source toolkit to evaluate  all kinds of meeting transcription
    systems.\r\nIt provides a unified interface for the computation of commonly used
    Word Error Rates (WERs), specifically cpWER, ORC WER and MIMO WER along other
    WER definitions.\r\nWe extend the cpWER computation by a temporal constraint to
    ensure that only words are identified as correct when the temporal alignment is
    plausible.\r\nThis leads to a better quality of the matching of the hypothesis
    string to the reference string that more closely resembles the actual transcription
    quality, and a system is penalized if it provides poor time annotations.\r\nSince
    word-level timing information is often not available, we present a way to approximate
    exact word-level timings from segment-level timings (e.g., a sentence) and show
    that the approximation leads to a similar WER as a matching with exact word-level
    annotations.\r\nAt the same time, the time constraint leads to a speedup of the
    matching algorithm, which outweighs the additional overhead caused by processing
    the time stamps."

  text: We present a fully integrated radio frequency identifications transponder
    chip operating at 5.8 GHz, which is compatible with the class-1 generation-2 of
    the Electronic Product Code protocol (EPC-C1 G2). The tag chip including the analog
    front-end and the digital baseband processor, are designed in the sub-threshold
    regime (0.5 V) with a total supply current of less than 50 μA. As a power scavenging
    unit, a single-stage differential-drive rectifier structure is designed and fabricated
    with standard threshold voltage (SVT) MOS elements in a commercial 65-nm CMOS
    process, to provide 0.8 V of rectified voltage. Measurements performed on the
    fabricated single-stage structure show a maximum power conversion efficiency of
    69.6% for a 22 kΩ load and a sensitivity of -12.5 dBm, which corresponds to more
    than 1 m of reading range. The power conversion efficiency at this range is about
    64%.

  text: 'Heutige On-Board-Ladewandler sind typischerweise aus zwei Stufen aufgebaut,
    die über einen Spannungszwischenkreis verbunden sind. Als erste Stufe kommt ein
    PFC-Gleichrichter zum Einsatz, der die Anforderungen an den Netzstrom bezüglich
    Oberschwingungsgehalt und Leistungsfaktor sicherstellt. Für die zweite Wandler-Stufe
    hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren ein LLC-Resonanzwandler qualifiziert, der die
    Ladeleistung an die Traktionsbatterie galvanisch getrennt überträgt. Der Zwischenkreis
    besteht aus einer Bank von Elektrolytkondensatoren, in denen die pulsierende Eingangsleistung
    zwischengespeichert wird. Die Kondensatoren machen einen erheblichen Teil des
    Lader-Volumens aus und altern schnell, was insbesondere für Ladewandler an Bord
    von Elektrofahrzeugen unerwünscht ist. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird untersucht,
    ob diese zweistufige Struktur verworfen werden kann, indem der LLC-Resonanzwandler
    direkt an die gleichgerichtete Netzspannung angeschlossen wird.Zum Einsatz des
    LLC-Resonanzwandlers als einstufiger Ladewandler ist die Schaltung für einen großen
    Strom- und Spannungsbereich auszulegen. Hierfür wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit
    eine erweiterte Zeitbereichsanalyse erarbeitet, deren hohe Modellierungsgenauigkeit
    im Anschluss experimentell nachgewiesen wird. Mit Hilfe dieser Zeitbereichsanalyse
    werden die Belastungsgrößen des Resonanzwandlers berechnet, um hiermit eine Vorauswahl
    der Schaltungsparameter treffen zu können. Darauf aufbauend erfolgt die Optimierung
    des integrierten Transformators als Schlüsselkomponente des Ladewandlers sowie
    dessen prototypische Realisierung. Abschließend wird mittels Prototypen die erzielbare
    Leistungsdichte ermittelt. Ergebnis: Verglichen mit etablierten Ladewandlern der
    heutigen Elektrofahrzeuge konnte durch den einstufigen Ansatz die Leistungsdichte

  text: 'Today''s on-board chargers of electric vehicles typically consist of two
    stages which are connected via a voltage DC link. A PFC rectifier is used as the
    first stage which ensures that the requirements for the mains current are met
    with respect to harmonic content and power factor. For the second converter stage,
    an LLC resonant converter has qualified in recent years which transmits the charging
    power to the traction battery in a galvanically isolated manner. The DC link consists
    of a bank of electrolytic capacitors in which the pulsating input power is buffered.
    The capacitors occupy a large portion of the charger volume and age rapidly, which
    is particularly undesirable for on-board chargers in electric vehicles. In the
    presented work, it is investigated whether this two-stage structure can be discarded
    by connecting the LLC resonant converter directly to the rectified line voltage.To
    use the LLC resonant converter as a single-stage charger, the circuit must be
    designed for a wide current and voltage range. For this purpose, an extended time-domain
    analysis is developed in this thesis, whose high modeling accuracy is subsequently
    demonstrated experimentally. With the help of this time domain analysis, the stress
    variables of the resonant converter are calculated in order to be able to make
    a preselection of the circuit parameters. Based on this, the optimization of the
    integrated transformer as a key component of the charger is carried out as well
    as its prototypical realization. Finally, the achievable power density is determined
    by means of prototypes. Result: Compared to established on-board chargers of today''s
    electric vehicles, the single-stage approach increased the power density by about
    53%.'

  text: 'One of the main challenges for next generation automotive radars is the improvement
    of angular resolution to a sub-degree level. In this context, wide aperture automotive
    radars of 1m length or more and resolution close to 0.1° in azimuth and 0.5° in
    elevation could be beneficial. To enable coherent processing of arrays with such
    large aperture, prior (i.e offline) and online calibration are necessary: channel
    imbalances (gains and phases) and three dimensional coordinates of transmit and
    receive elements need to be determined. We propose a calibration strategy based
    on alternating steps between the two subtasks of i) channel imbalance estimation
    with ‘known’ array positions, by applying a singular value decomposition to the
    resulting tensor calculus problem; and ii) antenna position estimation with ’known’
    channel imbalances, by numerically maximizing the Bayesian posterior probability;
    in both cases operating on range/Doppler snapshots of disjoint targets (with potentially
    unknown locations). Simulation studies based on the parameters of a MIMO 8x6 linear
    sparse array show promising results as long as the initial position errors do
    not exceed half a wavelength (2mm), beyond which we observe strong effects of
    ambiguity. Experimental results with real measurements show that after calibration
    in laboratory conditions, our MIMO 8x6 demonstrator with 50cm aperture is able
    to resolve two targets at the same range with angular separation at least as close
    as 0.4°.'

  text: In this paper we present a new system architecture for software-defined radio
    / radar with optical signal distribution. The proposed architecture allows to
    transmit the optical carrier and an arbitrary IQ signal on the same fiber from
    a base station to wireless transmitters using a single laser. Furthermore, we
    can reuse parts, and under special conditions, also the complete optical output
    of the base station for the IQ return path from the wireless receiver frontends
    to the base station. Avoiding multiple lasers and fibers for the distribution
    of the carrier and arbitrary signal from the base station to the frontend, and
    avoiding the laser diode for the IQ return path from receiver frontends to the
    base station reduces the hardware effort significantly. Finally, the system architecture
    allows to integrate all components of the optoelectronic wireless frontend in
    a single chip using silicon photonics technology.
