As a basis, we implement a scalar‐valued Gibbs‐energy‐barrier‐based phase‐transformation model making use of statistical physics. In this work, we particularly adopt the model for the simulation of phase‐transformations between an austenitic parent phase and a martensitic tension and compression phase. The incorporation of plasticity phenomena is established by enhancing the Helmholtz free energy functions of the material phases considered, where the plastic driving forces acting in each phase are derived from the overall free energy potential. The coupled model is embedded into a micro‐sphere formulation in order to simulate three‐dimensional boundary value problems—a technique well‐established in the context of computational inelasticity at small strains. The stoichiometric reaction of the corresponding water‐free metal salts with the ligand btmgp in dry MeCN or THF resulted in the straightforward formation of the mononuclear complexes <jats:bold>1</jats:bold>–<jats:bold>7</jats:bold> and the binuclear complex <jats:bold>8</jats:bold>. In complexes with <jats:italic>M</jats:italic><jats:sup>II</jats:sup> the metal ion shows a distorted tetrahedral coordination whereas in <jats:bold>8</jats:bold>, the coordination of the <jats:italic>M</jats:italic><jats:sup>I</jats:sup> ion is almost linear. Tests in the lowcycle\r\nfatigue (LCF) regime were conducted on material that was processed by the equal channel\r\nangular extrusion (ECAE) technique along the so called “efficient” route 8E. This route has been\r\nshown to result in a homogeneous microstructure with a high fraction of high angle grain\r\nboundaries (HAGBs), which are beneficial for a stable CSSR. In addition, the evolution of the\r\nmicrostructure was characterized by means of electron optical techniques, including electron\r\nbackscattered diffraction, and by X-Ray diffractometry. It was found that the initial texture of\r\nspecimens cut from the ECAE billet along different orientations with respect to the extrusion\r\ndirection (ED) has a substantial effect on the CSSR of the UFG IF steel.
