  abstract     = {{Based on the surface equivalence principle an equivalent near-field source can be determined by measurements with a near-field scanner. One application is to use the source to simulate the interferences of the device-under-test with other objects in its close environment. Due to a limited signal-to-noise ratio in practical applications, noise adds to the near-field source. Hence, noise effects affect the quality of the simulation results and cause uncertainties. The influence of the noise effects is investigated by a simulative approach with artificially added noise. Two test devices with different a geometric dimension, operating frequency and excited power are evaluated for different characteristics and signal-to-noise ratios to assess the impact of the simulation results. Finally, in a combined simulation an equivalent near-field source will disturb an IoT-device and the voltages at two resistors on the device are examined.}},

  abstract     = {{Explanations are pervasive in our lives. Mostly, they occur in dialogical form where an explainer discusses a concept or phenomenon of interest with an explainee. Leaving the explainee with a clear understanding is not straightforward due to the knowledge gap between the two participants. Previous research looked at the interaction of explanation moves, dialogue acts, and topics in successful dialogues with expert explainers. However, daily-life explanations often fail, raising the question of what makes a dialogue successful. In this work, we study explanation dialogues in terms of the interactions between the explainer and explainee and how they correlate with the quality of explanations in terms of a successful understanding on the explainee{’}s side. In particular, we first construct a corpus of 399 dialogues from the Reddit forum {Explain Like I am Five} and annotate it for interaction flows and explanation quality. We then analyze the interaction flows, comparing them to those appearing in expert dialogues. Finally, we encode the interaction flows using two language models that can handle long inputs, and we provide empirical evidence for the effectiveness boost gained through the encoding in predicting the success of explanation dialogues.}},

  abstract     = {{In our paper, we present a study in which we investigate which strategies pre-service teachers (PSTs) use to find and, if necessary, reject possible candidates for congruence theorems for quadrilaterals. This study was conducted before the PTSs attended a university geometry course. In this way, statements about learning prerequisites can be made. For the study, we analyzed group discussions of PSTs to identify typical approaches and evaluate them from a mathematical perspective. The results can be considered for the further development of courses for PSTs and generate hypotheses

  abstract     = {{<jats:p>This work analyses load profiles for East African microgrids, and then investigates the integration of electric two-wheelers and portable storage into a solar PV with battery microgrid in Uganda, East Africa. By introducing e-mobility and portable storage, demand side management strategic load growth can thus be achieved and electricity access can be expanded. Battery degradation is also considered. The results showed a 98.5% reduction in PV energy curtailment and a 57% reduction in the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) from 0.808 USD/kWh to 0.350 USD/kWh when the electric two-wheeler and portable storage loads were introduced. Such reductions are important enablers of financial viability and sustainability of microgrids. It is possible to avoid emissions of up to 73.27 tons of CO2/year with the proposed e-bikes, and an average of 160 customers could be served annually as off-microgrid consumers without requiring an investment in additional distribution infrastructure. Annual revenue could be increased by 135% by incorporating the additional loads. Sensitivity analyses were conducted by varying component costs, the battery lifetime, the interest rate, and the priority weighting of the additional loads. The battery costs were found to be a major contributor to lifecycle costs (LCC) and also have a big impact on the LCOE. The interest rate significantly affects the LCC as well.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{We present a general and intuitive ambiguity model for intersections, junctions and other structures in binary edge images. The model is combined with edge tracing, where edges are ordered sequences of connected pixels. The objective is to provide a versatile preprocessing method for tasks such as figure-ground segmentation, object recognition, topological analysis, etc. By using only a small set of straightforward principles, the results are intuitive to describe. This helps to implement subsequent processing steps, such as resolving ambiguous edge connections at junctions. By using an augmented edge map, neighboring edges can be directly accessed using quick local search operations. The edge tracing uses recursion, which leads to compact programming code. We explain our algorithm using pseudocode, compare it with related methods, and show how simple modular postprocessing steps can be used to optimize the results. The complete algorithm, including all data structures, requires less than 50 lines of pseudocode. We also provide a C++ implementation of our method.}},
