  text: We present a combined experimental and numerical study of the far-field emission
    properties of optical travelling wave antennas made from low-loss dielectric materials.
    The antennas considered here are composed of two simple building blocks, a director
    and a reflector, deposited on a glass substrate. Colloidal quantum dots placed
    in the feed gap between the two elements serve as internal light source. The emission
    profile of the antenna is mainly formed by the director while the reflector suppresses
    backward emission. Systematic studies of the director dimensions as well as variation
    of antenna material show that the effective refractive index of the director primarily
    governs the far-field emission pattern. Below cut off, i.e., if the director’s
    effective refractive index is smaller than the refractive index of the substrate,
    the main lobe results from leaky wave emission along the director. In contrast,
    if the director supports a guided mode, the emission predominately originates
    from the end facet of the director.

  text: Verification of software and processor hardware usually proceeds separately,
    software analysis relying on the correctness of processors executing machine instructions.
    This assumption is valid as long as the software runs on standard CPUs that have
    been extensively validated and are in wide use. However, for processors exploiting
    custom instruction set extensions to meet performance and energy constraints the
    validation might be less extensive, challenging the correctness assumption. In
    this paper we present a novel formal approach for hardware/software co-verification
    targeting processors with custom instruction set extensions. We detail two different
    approaches for checking whether the hardware fulfills the requirements expected
    by the software analysis. The approaches are designed to explore a trade-off between
    generality of the verification and computational effort. Then, we describe the
    integration of software and hardware analyses for both techniques and describe
    a fully automated tool chain implementing the approaches. Finally, we demonstrate
    and compare the two approaches on example source code with custom instructions,
    using state-of-the-art software analysis and hardware verification techniques.

    <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>
                   <jats:p>Due to the COVID-19 crisis, many courses have been offered digitally. Using data from n = 1,173 business students participating in a preparatory mathematics course at a German university that covered the same content as in 2018, 2019 and 2020, we examine how students’ participation and the effect of the preparatory course changed. The data show that the participation rate has fallen slightly, but students’ participation is rather similar to preceding years. Interestingly, students have participated more intensively. There are clear signs of dishonesty in the self-test (use of a calculator) and significant changes in predictors of performance. In particular, the effect of students’ engagement in the course on their performance substantially increased. Further, we found a gender gap in performance affecting women. Finally, the data show that digital courses can be as effective as on-campus courses.</jats:p>

  text: Das gymnasiale Lehramtsstudium der Mathematik ist an deutschen Universitäten
    unterschiedlich organisiert. Traditionell wurden am Studienbeginn die Fachvorlesungen
    zur Analysis und Linearen Algebra gemeinsam mit Fachstudierenden gehört. In jüngerer
    Zeit verbreiten sich alternative Modelle z. B. mit Brückenvorlesungen, die oft
    spezifisch für das Gymnasiallehramt angeboten werden. Sie können gemeinsame Veranstaltungen
    mit Fachstudierenden ergänzen oder ersetzen. Dieser Beitrag zeigt auf, welche
    Modelle wie häufig verbreitet sind, und spricht an, welche hochschuldidaktischen
    Fragen an der Studiengestaltung hängen.
