  abstract     = {{Betriebliche Gesundheitsförderung erfreut sich einer zunehmenden Beliebtheit. Die Förderung der Gesundheit der Belegschaft, so die Annahme, führt zu Einsparungen bei den Krankheitskosten und Produktivitätssteigerungen und leistet mithin einen erheblichen Beitrag zur Betriebsgesundheit, was sich gut an der Reduktion von Arbeitsunfähigkeits-Tagen ablesen lässt. Der vorliegende Beitrag zeigt aber, dass solche Kennzahlen weder auf den Gesundheitszustand der Belegschaft noch auf den Erfolg gesundheitsförderlicher Maßnahmen schließen lassen. Dafür sind äußere Einflüsse auf die Arbeitsunfähigkeit beispielsweise durch die Binnenkonjunktur zu groß. Die Beurteilung der Gesundheit eines Betriebs lässt sich kaum anhand einer Bilanzierung der individuellen Gesundheitsstände vornehmen. Niklas Luhmanns systemtheoretisch fundierte Betrachtung der Organisation ermöglicht es hingegen, die Betriebsgesundheit über die Entscheidungsprozesse in Unternehmen, ihre Voraussetzungen und Formen ihrer Mitteilung zu bestimmen. Die Betriebsgesundheit wie auch ihre Förderung wird so über soziale Prozesse bestimmt, in deren Mittelpunkt eine Kultur des Vertrauens sowie die innerbetrieblichen Kommunikationsabläufe stehen. Wie Sport über die individuelle Gesundheit hinaus auch die Betriebsgesundheit fördern kann, wird abschließend dargestellt. Beispielsweise wird betrachtet, ob Betriebssport soziale Prozesse anregen kann oder ob Sportvereine als Vorbild hinsichtlich der Frage dienen können, wie eine Integration der Mitarbeiter jenseits des Entlohnungsprinzips gelingen kann.}},

  abstract     = {{Proteolytic activation is a unique feature of the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC). However, the underlying molecular mechanisms and the physiologically relevant proteases remain to be identified. The serine protease trypsin I can activate ENaC in vitro but is unlikely to be the physiologically relevant activating protease in ENaC-expressing tissues in vivo. Herein, we investigated whether human trypsin IV, a form of trypsin that is co-expressed in several extrapancreatic epithelial cells with ENaC, can activate human ENaC. In Xenopus laevis oocytes, we monitored proteolytic activation of ENaC currents and the appearance of $\gamma$ENaC cleavage products at the cell surface. We demonstrated that trypsin IV and trypsin I can stimulate ENaC heterologously expressed in oocytes. ENaC cleavage and activation by trypsin IV but not by trypsin I required a critical cleavage site (Lys-189) in the extracellular domain of the $\gamma$-subunit. In contrast, channel activation by trypsin I was prevented by mutating three putative cleavage sites (Lys-168, Lys-170, and Arg-172) in addition to mutating previously described prostasin (RKRK(178)), plasmin (Lys-189), and neutrophil elastase (Val-182 and Val-193) sites. Moreover, we found that trypsin IV is expressed in human renal epithelial cells and can increase ENaC-mediated sodium transport in cultured human airway epithelial cells. Thus, trypsin IV may regulate ENaC function in epithelial tissues. Our results show, for the first time, that trypsin IV can stimulate ENaC and that trypsin IV and trypsin I activate ENaC by cleavage at distinct sites. The presence of distinct cleavage sites may be important for ENaC regulation by tissue-specific proteases.}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:p><jats:italic>Introduction</jats:italic>. Physical activity (PA) in preschoolers is vital to protect against obesity but is influenced by different early-life factors. The present study investigated the impact of different preschool programs and selected family factors on preschoolers’ PA in different countries in an explorative way.<jats:italic>Methods</jats:italic>. The PA of 114 children (age = 5.3 ± 0.65 years) attending different preschool settings in four cities of the trinational Upper Rhine region (Freiburg, Landau/Germany, Basel/Switzerland, and Strasbourg/France) was measured by direct accelerometry. Anthropometrical and family-related data were obtained. Timetables of preschools were analyzed.<jats:italic>Results</jats:italic>. Comparing the preschool settings, children from Strasbourg and Landau were significantly more passive than children from Basel and Freiburg (<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" id="M1"><mml:mi>P</mml:mi><mml:mo>&lt;</mml:mo><mml:mn>.01</mml:mn></mml:math>). With regard to the family context as an important early-life factor, a higher number of children in a family along with the mother’s and child’s anthropometrical status are predictors of engagement in PA.<jats:italic>Conclusion</jats:italic>. More open preschool systems such as those in Basel, Freiburg, and Landau do not lead to more PA “per se” compared to the highly regimented desk-based system in France. Preliminaries such as special training and the number of caregivers might be necessary elements to enhance PA. In family contexts, targeted PA interventions for special groups should be more focused in the future.</jats:p>}},
