Its relevance is theoretically established and empirically shown multiple times. PCK has therefore been analyzed continuously in education research, currently with a particular emphasis on its impact on the quality of teaching and directly on learning outcomes. However, there is still a lack of detailed empirically backed descriptions of the intricacies of PCK and of methodologies for translating developed PCK assessment procedures based on open-ended questionnaires into educational practice. In this dissertation project, therefore, three objectives are pursued, based on a dataset of 846 responses to a physics PCK test instrument. First, cross-project PCK competency levels are explored based on item response modeling. Second, non-hierarchical PCK competency profiles are described based on (probabilistic) cluster and text analyses. Third, a fully automated FDW assessment system based on Machine Learning is developed. In particular, cognitive requirement categories were considered as subscales of the test instrument used. The assessment system was evaluated based on these and other subscales, as well as the assignment of respondents to the competency profiles, and demonstrated high performance values both in relation to inter-rater agreement and in absolute terms."}],"citation":{"mla":"Zeller, Jannis. <i>Strukturanalysen des physikdidaktischen Wissens mithilfe von Machine Learning</i>. Lattice quality and assembly kinetics are controlled by various environmental parameters, including the employed surface, the assembly temperature, and the ionic composition of the buffer, with optimized parameter combinations resulting in highly ordered lattices that can span surface areas of several cm2. Established assembly protocols, however, employ assembly times ranging from hours to days. Here, the assembly of highly ordered hexagonal DNA origami lattices at mica surfaces is observed within few minutes using high-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM). A moderate increase in the DNA origami concentration enables this rapid assembly. While forming a regular lattice takes 10 min at a DNA origami concentration of 4 nM, this time is shortened to about 2 min at a concentration of 6 nM. Increasing the DNA origami concentration any further does not result in shorter assembly times, presumably because DNA origami arrival at the mica surface is diffusion-limited. Over short length scales up to 1 µm, lattice order is independent of the DNA origami concentration. However, at larger length scales of a few microns, a DNA origami concentration of 10 nM yields slightly better order than lower and higher concentrations. Therefore, 10 nM can be considered the optimum concentration for the rapid assembly of highly ordered DNA origami lattices. These results thus represent an important step toward the industrial-scale application of DNA origami-based lithography masks.
","lang":"eng"}]},{"citation":{"chicago":"Probst, Patrick, Moritz Lindemann, Johanna R. However, silicon oxide surfaces come in many different forms and the type and history of the silicon oxide has a large effect on its physicochemical surface properties. Therefore, we here investigate DNA origami lattice formation on differently fabricated SiOx films on silicon wafers after wet-chemical oxidation by RCA1. Despite having similar oxide compositions and hydroxylation states, of all surfaces tested, only thermally grown SiOx performs similarly well as native oxide. For the other SiOx films deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition and magnetron sputtering, DNA origami adsorption is strongly suppressed. This is attributed to an increased surface roughness and a lower oxide density, respectively. Our results demonstrate that the employed SiOx surface may decide over the outcome of an experiment and should be considered as an additional parameter that may require optimization and fine-tuning before high-quality lattices can be assembled. In particular, our observations suggest that efficient DNA origami lattice assembly on SiOx surfaces requires a low surface roughness and a high oxide density."}],"publication":"Chemistry – A European Journal","citation":{"short":"B.K. However, rational materials development is hampered by difficulties in interpreting electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) and drawing conclusions about promising aspects of device improvement. Here, we characterized electrodes consisting of activated carbon with polyacrylic acid binder in four different concentrations of sulfuric acid, using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Both datasets were evaluated with simple equivalent circuits and comparatively analyzed. Conductivity of the electrolyte was independently measured. Cyclic voltammograms (CV) show larger resistance and capacitance at low scan rates. Resistances obtained from EIS are in good agreement with those obtained by cyclic voltammograms particularly at high scan rates. The comparison against specific electrolyte resistance can reveal whether resistances within the solid electrode architecture or resistances within the electrolyte, partially confined by pores, are the dominant cause of increased resistance at low scan rate. Comparison between CV and EIS points to the main electrode capacitance being described by a constant phase element (CPE) used to fit the low-frequency region of EIS."}],"extern":"1","publication":"2024 International Workshop on Impedance Spectroscopy (IWIS)","citation":{"apa":"Reinke, S., Khamitsevich, V., &#38; Linnemann, J. However, their emission wavelength depends on their size and immediate surroundings in the solid-state environment. By applying a serrodyne electro-optic phase modulation, we achieve a spectral shift up to 0.01 nm (3.5 GHz) while preserving the purity and indistinguishability of the photons. This method provides an efficient and scalable approach for tuning the emission wavelength of QDs without relying on nonlinear frequency mixing or probabilistic processes. A time lens is characterized by its chirp rate, which determines the focusing strength of the time lens, and accurate knowledge of this chirp is critical for precise dispersion compensation and minimizing aberrations. Here, we introduce a tunable time aperture model for sinusoidal time lenses that provides a more accurate estimate of the effective chirp rate without modifying the device. We derive a closed-form expression for the maximum phase error and show how it depends on the time aperture. We experimentally demonstrate a 1.6-fold improvement in spectral bandwidth compression of Gaussian pulses compared to the conventional approach. Our framework offers a practical tool for designing efficient temporal optical systems, benefiting applications in both classical and quantum optics where accurate spectro-temporal shaping is essential."}],"issue":"9","publication":"APL Photonics","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"623"},{"_id":"288"},{"_id":"15"}],"date_created":"2026-01-26T14:24:34Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-01-26T14:27:42Z","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 10","year":"2025","title":"Aberration-optimized electro-optic time lens model using a tunable aperture","author":[{"first_name":"Sanjay","last_name":"Kapoor","full_name":"Kapoor, Sanjay"},{"last_name":"Sośnicki","orcid":"0000-0002-2465-4645","first_name":"Filip Maksymilian","full_name":"Sośnicki, Filip Maksymilian","id":"106751"},{"first_name":"Michał","last_name":"Karpiński","full_name":"Karpiński, Michał"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2378-0967"]},"doi":"10.1063/5.0270904","article_number":"096111","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://pubs.aip.org/aip/app/article/10/9/096111/3364187"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"abstract":[{"text":"Orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes are an important resource used in various branches of quantum science and technology due to their unique helical structure and countably infinite basis. Generating light that simultaneously carries high-order orbital angular momenta and exhibits quantum correlations is a challenging task. In this work, we present a theoretical approach to the generation of correlated Schmidt modes carrying OAM via parametric down-conversion (PDC) in cascaded nonlinear systems (nonlinear interferometers) pumped by Laguerre–Gaussian beams. We demonstrate how the number of generated modes and their population can be controlled by varying the pump parameters, the gain of the PDC process, and the distance between the crystals. We investigate the angular displacement measurement uncertainty of these interferometers and demonstrate that it can overcome the classical shot noise limit.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"1","publication":"APL Photonics","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"569"},{"_id":"170"},{"_id":"35"},{"_id":"429"}],"date_created":"2026-01-26T15:48:54Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-02-01T13:19:20Z","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 10","title":"Schmidt modes carrying orbital angular momentum generated by cascaded systems pumped with Laguerre–Gaussian beams","year":"2025","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2378-0967"]},"author":[{"id":"55907","full_name":"Scharwald, Dennis","orcid":"0009-0007-5654-5412","last_name":"Scharwald","first_name":"Dennis"},{"full_name":"Gehse, Lucas","first_name":"Lucas","last_name":"Gehse"},{"id":"60286","first_name":"Polina","last_name":"Sharapova","full_name":"Sharapova, Polina"}],"doi":"10.1063/5.0229802","article_number":"016112","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://pubs.aip.org/aip/app/article-pdf/doi/10.1063/5.0229802/20352749/016112_1_5.0229802.pdf","open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"project":[{"name":"TRR 142: Maßgeschneiderte nichtlineare Photonik: Von grundlegenden Konzepten zu funktionellen Strukturen","_id":"53"},{"name":"TRR 142 - Project Area C","_id":"56"},{"name":"TRR 142 ; TP: C10: Erzeugung und Charakterisierung von Quantenlicht in nichtlinearen Systemen: Eine theoretische Analyse","_id":"174"},{"_id":"52","name":"Computing Resources Provided by the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing"}],"citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Scharwald_Gehse_Sharapova_2025, title={Schmidt modes carrying orbital angular momentum generated by cascaded systems pumped with Laguerre–Gaussian beams}, volume={10}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0229802\">10.1063/5.0229802</a>}, number={1016112}, journal={APL Photonics}, publisher={AIP Publishing}, author={Scharwald, Dennis and Gehse, Lucas and Sharapova, Polina}, year={2025} }","ama":"Scharwald D, Gehse L, Sharapova P.
