The 266 nm (4.66 eV) pump pulses induce a large electron–hole pair concentration up to 4×1020cm−3, which shift the transition energy between conduction and valence bands due to many-body effects up to ≈500 meV. Here, the absorption onset increases due to band filling while the bandgap renormalization at the same time decreases the bandgap. Additionally, the absorption of the pump-beam creates a free-carrier profile within the 605 nm zb-GaN layer with high free-carrier concentrations at the surface, and low concentrations at the interface to the substrate. This leads to varying optical properties from the sample surface (high transition energy) to substrate (low transition energy), which are taken into account by grading analysis for an accurate description of the experimental data. For this, a model describing the time- and position-dependent free-carrier concentration is formulated by considering the relaxation, recombination, and diffusion of those carriers. We provide a quantitative analysis of optical experimental data (ellipsometric angles Ψ and Δ) as well as a plot for the time-dependent change of the imaginary part of the dielectric function.
"}],"publication":"Journal of Applied Physics","issue":"7","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"230"}],"keyword":["General Physics and Astronomy"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-08-18T08:17:41Z","intvolume":" 134","date_updated":"2023-10-09T09:17:15Z","publication_status":"published","author":[{"last_name":"Baron","first_name":"Elias","full_name":"Baron, Elias"},{"first_name":"Rüdiger","last_name":"Goldhahn","full_name":"Goldhahn, Rüdiger"},{"first_name":"Shirly","last_name":"Espinoza","full_name":"Espinoza, Shirly"},{"last_name":"Zahradník","first_name":"Martin","full_name":"Zahradník, Martin"},{"full_name":"Rebarz, Mateusz","first_name":"Mateusz","last_name":"Rebarz"},{"first_name":"Jakob","last_name":"Andreasson","full_name":"Andreasson, Jakob"},{"first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Deppe","full_name":"Deppe, Michael"},{"orcid":"0000-0003-1121-3565","first_name":"Donat Josef","last_name":"As","full_name":"As, Donat Josef","id":"14"},{"full_name":"Feneberg, Martin","first_name":"Martin","last_name":"Feneberg"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0021-8979","1089-7550"]},"title":"Time-resolved pump–probe spectroscopic ellipsometry of cubic GaN. The fabrication of low-loss optical waveguides, as well as high-grade periodically poled ferroelectric domain structures, requires a profound understanding of the material properties and crystal structure. In this regard, Raman spectroscopy offers the possibility to study and visualize domain structures, strain, defects, and the local stoichiometry, which are all factors impacting device performance. However, the accurate interpretation of Raman spectra and their changes with respect to extrinsic and intrinsic defects requires a thorough assignment of the Raman modes to their respective crystal features, which to date is only partly conducted based on phenomenological modelling. To address this issue, we calculated the phonon spectra of potassium titanyl phosphate and the related compounds rubidium titanyl phosphate (RbTiOPO4) and potassium titanyl arsenate (KTiOAsO4) based on density functional theory and compared them with experimental data. Overall, this allows us to assign various spectral features to eigenmodes of lattice substructures with improved detail compared to previous assignments. Nevertheless, the analysis also shows that not all features of the spectra can unambigiously be explained yet. A possible explanation might be that defects or long range fields not included in the modeling play a crucial rule for the resulting Raman spectrum. In conclusion, this work provides an improved foundation into the vibrational properties in the KTiOPO4 material family."}],"issue":"10","publication":"Crystals","volume":13,"user_id":"22501","publisher":"MDPI AG","_id":"47997","funded_apc":"1","status":"public","oa":"1","project":[{"name":"TRR 142 - B07: TRR 142 - Polaronen-Einfluss auf die optischen Eigenschaften von Lithiumniobat (B07*)","_id":"168","grant_number":"231447078"},{"_id":"55","name":"TRR 142 - B: TRR 142 - Project Area B"},{"name":"PhoQC: PhoQC: Photonisches Quantencomputing","grant_number":"PROFILNRW-2020-067","_id":"266"}],"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"ama":"Neufeld S, Gerstmann U, Padberg L, et al. The majority of SRs on total protein intake had moderate or high methodological quality and moderate outcome-specific certainty of evidence according to NutriGrade, however, the latter was low for the majority of SRs on animal and plant protein. Six of the eight SRs reported risk increases with both total and animal protein. According to one SR, total protein intake in studies was ~ 21 energy percentage (%E) in the highest intake category and 15%E in the lowest intake category. Relative Risks comparing high versus low intake in most recent SRs ranged from 1.09 (two SRs, 95% CIs 1.02–1.15 and 1.06–1.13) to 1.11 (1.05–1.16) for total protein (between 8 and 12 cohort studies included) and from 1.13 (1.08–1.19) to 1.19 (two SRs, 1.11–1.28 and 1.11–1.28) (8–9 cohort studies) for animal protein. However, SRs on RCTs examining major glycaemic traits (HbA1c, fasting glucose, fasting insulin) do not support a clear biological link with T2D risk. For plant protein, some recent SRs pointed towards risk decreases and non-linear associations, however, the majority did not support an association with T2D risk.
\r\n
\r\n
Conclusion
\r\n
Higher total protein intake was possibly associated with higher T2D risk, while there is insufficient evidence for a risk increase with higher intakes of animal protein and a risk decrease with plant protein intake. Understanding the adhesion of such peptides and proteins at a molecular level thus represents an important step toward controlling and suppressing biofilm formation on technological and medical materials. This study investigates the molecular adhesion of a pilus‐derived peptide that facilitates biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a multidrug‐resistant opportunistic pathogen frequently encountered in healthcare settings. Single‐molecule force spectroscopy (SMFS) was performed on chemically etched ZnO surfaces to gather insights about peptide adsorption force and its kinetics. Metal‐free click chemistry for the fabrication of peptide‐terminated SMFS cantilevers was performed on amine‐terminated gold cantilevers and verified by X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and polarization‐modulated infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM‐IRRAS). Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and XPS analyses reveal stable topographies and surface chemistries of the substrates that are not affected by SMFS. Rupture events described by the worm‐like chain model (WLC) up to 600 pN were detected for the non‐polar ZnO(11‐20) surfaces. The dissociation barrier energy at zero force ΔG(0), the transition state distance xb and bound‐unbound dissociation rate at zero force koff(0) for the single crystalline substrate indicate that coordination and hydrogen bonds dominate the peptide/surface interaction.
","lang":"eng"}]},{"abstract":[{"text":"
We report a titanium indiffused waveguide resonator featuring an integrated electro-optic modulator for cavity length stabilisation that produces close to 5 dB of squeezed light at 1550 nm (2.4 dB directly measured). The aim of the project was to promote and facilitate pre-service teachers to create and undertake evidence-based practices in teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In the RiTE project, pre-service teachers were encouraged to use evidence from educational and scientific research and to experiment and introduce didactic innovations in teaching and learning processes. Although it has its justification in the tradition of thinking about science, evidence-based practice is not yet consciously applied in school practice. In the article, we present both the theoretical framework for such practices, and the results of qualitative research – an analysis of interviews conducted with students, future teachers, and novice teachers involved in the project. The presented results show changes in the context of an understanding of evidence and what evidence-based practices are in the teaching process and the vision of such teaching presented by the respondents.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"1","publication":"Problemy Wczesnej Edukacji","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"386"}],"date_created":"2023-11-03T10:50:49Z","status":"public","user_id":"44191","volume":56,"page":"89-108","_id":"48602","publisher":"Uniwersytet Gdanski","citation":{"ama":"Rybska E, Dudziak R, Pollmeier P. The two MBRTs induced either an object-based spatial transformation (based on a same-different judgment) or an egocentric transformation (based on a left-right judgment). In Experiment 1, 48 participants were tested while standing on an even ground (low balancing requirements) or on a balance board (high balancing requirements). In Experiment 2, 32 participants performed while either standing still on a vibration plate or with the vibration plate moving in a low (20 Hz) or high (180 Hz) frequency. In both experiments, the results for response time and response error revealed effects of rotation angle and type of task. An effect of balancing condition was only observed for response error in Experiment 1. More precisely, response times and response errors increased for higher rotation angles. Also, performance was better for egocentric than for object-based spatial transformations. However, the different challenges to dynamic stability in Experiments 1 and 2 did not influence performance in the two MBRTs (except for response errors in Experiment 1) nor in a control condition (Experiment 1) without mental rotation.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Human Movement Science","department":[{"_id":"17"},{"_id":"266"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Mental rotation","Balance control","Perturbation","Embodiment"],"date_created":"2023-11-08T09:16:06Z"},{"citation":{"short":"Y. Based on objective data, benchmarks can be determined to tailor training intensity and volume. Next to average and accumulated values, the most intense periods (MIPs) during competitive FH matches are of special interest, since these quantify the peak intensities players experience throughout the intermittent matches. The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare peak intensities between training and competition sessions in a male FH team competing in the first german division.
\r\n
\r\n
Methods
\r\n
Throughout an 8-week in-season period, 372 individual activity datasets (144 datasets from competitive sessions) were recorded using the Polar Team Pro sensor (Kempele, Finland). MIPs were calculated applying a rolling window approach with predefined window length (1–5 min) and calculated for Total distance, High-Intensity-Running distance (&gt; 16 km/h), Sprinting distance (&gt; 20 km/h) and Acceleration load. Significant differences between training and competition MIPs were analysed through non-parametric statistical tests (P &lt; 0.05).
\r\n
\r\n
Results
\r\n
Analyses revealed higher MIPs during competition for all considered outcomes (P &lt; 0.001). Effect size estimation revealed strongest effects for sprinting distance (d = 1.89 to d = 1.22) and lowest effect sizes for acceleration load (d = 0.92 to d = 0.49).
\r\n
\r\n
Conclusion
\r\n
The present findings demonstrate that peak intensities during training do not reach those experienced during competitive sessions in a male FH team. Training routines such as manipulations of court-dimensions and team sizes might contribute to this discrepancy. Coaches should compare training and competition intensities to recalibrate training routines to optimize athletes’ preparation for competition.
\r\n
"}],"publication":"Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise","department":[{"_id":"17"},{"_id":"172"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Nutrition and Dietetics","Rehabilitation","Orthopedics and Sports Medicine","Physical Therapy","Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation","Physiology"],"date_created":"2023-12-14T15:38:21Z","file":[{"creator":"danieldb","date_created":"2023-12-14T15:40:09Z","file_name":"Büchel (2023). In the present work we focus on the generation of pairs of photons with high degrees of polarization entanglement and simultaneously high indistinguishibility. We achieve this goal by selectively reducing the biexciton lifetime with an optical resonator. We demonstrate that a suitably tailored circular Bragg reflector fulfills the requirements of sufficient selective Purcell enhancement of biexciton emission paired with spectrally broad photon extraction and two-fold degenerate optical modes. Our in-depth theoretical study combines (i) the optimization of realistic photonic structures solving Maxwell's equations from which model parameters are extracted as input for (ii) microscopic simulations of quantum-dot cavity excitation dynamics with full access to photon properties. We report non-trivial dependencies on system parameters and use the predictive power of our combined theoretical approach to determine the optimal range of Purcell enhancement that maximizes indistinguishability and entanglement to near unity values in the telecom C-band at $1550\\,\\mathrm{nm}$.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2023-03-31T13:22:05Z","department":[{"_id":"61"},{"_id":"230"},{"_id":"429"},{"_id":"623"},{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"35"},{"_id":"170"},{"_id":"297"}],"oa":"1","keyword":["tet_topic_phc","tet_topic_qd"],"type":"preprint","author":[{"full_name":"Bauch, David","last_name":"Bauch","first_name":"David"},{"last_name":"Siebert","first_name":"Dustin","full_name":"Siebert, Dustin"},{"full_name":"Jöns, Klaus","first_name":"Klaus","last_name":"Jöns","id":"85353"},{"first_name":"Jens","orcid":"0000-0001-7059-9862","last_name":"Förstner","full_name":"Förstner, Jens","id":"158"},{"id":"27271","full_name":"Schumacher, Stefan","orcid":"0000-0003-4042-4951","first_name":"Stefan","last_name":"Schumacher"}],"year":"2023","title":"On-demand indistinguishable and entangled photons at telecom frequencies using tailored cavity designs","status":"public","date_updated":"2023-12-21T10:41:17Z","_id":"43246","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2303.13871.pdf","open_access":"1"}],"user_id":"16199"},{"date_updated":"2023-12-22T09:34:49Z","publication_status":"published","author":[{"id":"459","last_name":"Schlegel-Matthies","first_name":"Kirsten","full_name":"Schlegel-Matthies, Kirsten"}],"title":"Zwischen Überwältigung und Beliebigkeit - Wertorientierung im Unterricht als Aufgabe der Lehrpersonenbildung","status":"public","year":"2023","editor":[{"full_name":"Tremp, Peter","first_name":"Peter","last_name":"Tremp"}],"user_id":"459","_id":"50061","publisher":"Pädagogische Hochschule Luzern","language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://zenodo.org/records/10033438"}],"page":"31 - 34","citation":{"mla":"Schlegel-Matthies, Kirsten. “Zwischen Überwältigung und Beliebigkeit - Wertorientierung im Unterricht als Aufgabe der Lehrpersonenbildung.” <i>Nachdenken über Lehrerinnen- und Lehrerbildung.
