Lower growth rates and a reduced N content, favoring graphitic sp2 structures, hinder industrial scalability due to prolonged deposition times and produce softer, less dense films with inferior hardness, elasticity, and wear resistance. Carbon nitride films deposited by magnetron sputtering exhibit growth behavior strongly influenced by plasma–surface interactions. However, nitrogen resputtering and reduced film growth rates are commonly attributed to chemical etching by positive ions. We propose an additional, unreported power-dependent mechanism involving negative ions formed at the carbon target. These ions are accelerated through the plasma sheath, reaching the substrate with high kinetic energy and inducing both chemical and physical resputtering. This effect is localized to the geometrical projection of the target, as shown by spatially resolved analysis: ellipsometry reveals thickness reduction, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy indicate nitrogen depletion within this region. Correlation between stoichiometry and structural signatures confirms the decisive role of negative ions in modifying the film composition and microstructure. At the same time, the composition of the gas mixture exerts only a minor effect.
"}],"issue":"24","publication":"Journal of Applied Physics","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"302"}],"date_created":"2026-06-25T12:15:04Z","date_updated":"2026-06-25T12:18:17Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 139","title":"Influence of negative ions on the stoichiometry and structure of carbon nitride films deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering","year":"2026","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0021-8979","1089-7550"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Wieschhoff, Christian","first_name":"Christian","last_name":"Wieschhoff"},{"last_name":"Theile-Rasche","first_name":"Chantal","full_name":"Theile-Rasche, Chantal"},{"first_name":"Fuzeng","last_name":"Wang","full_name":"Wang, Fuzeng"},{"full_name":"Prib, Michael","last_name":"Prib","first_name":"Michael"},{"full_name":"Moldt, Viktoria Daniela Dorothea","last_name":"Moldt","first_name":"Viktoria Daniela Dorothea"},{"id":"194","full_name":"Grundmeier, Guido","last_name":"Grundmeier","first_name":"Guido"},{"last_name":"Salas","first_name":"Nieves López","full_name":"Salas, Nieves López"},{"orcid":"0000-0002-8684-273X ","last_name":"de los Arcos de Pedro","first_name":"Maria Teresa","full_name":"de los Arcos de Pedro, Maria Teresa","id":"54556"}],"doi":"10.1063/5.0335780","article_number":"243301","language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"article_number":"acssensors.6c01100","_id":"66041","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publisher":"American Chemical Society (ACS)","doi":"10.1021/acssensors.6c01100","user_id":"54556","status":"public","title":"Role of Irradiance in Light-Activated In 2 O 3 Gas Sensors: Why More Light Is Not Always Better","year":"2026","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2379-3694","2379-3694"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Voth, Sven","first_name":"Sven","last_name":"Voth"},{"last_name":"Zhao","first_name":"Zhenyu","full_name":"Zhao, Zhenyu"},{"full_name":"Baier, Dominik","first_name":"Dominik","last_name":"Baier"},{"full_name":"Glass, Alexandra","last_name":"Glass","first_name":"Alexandra"},{"last_name":"Elgabarty","first_name":"Hossam","full_name":"Elgabarty, Hossam"},{"first_name":"Oskar J.","last_name":"Sandberg","full_name":"Sandberg, Oskar J."},{"last_name":"Grundmeier","first_name":"Guido","full_name":"Grundmeier, Guido"},{"first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Tiemann","full_name":"Tiemann, Michael"},{"full_name":"Smått, Jan-Henrik","last_name":"Smått","first_name":"Jan-Henrik"},{"full_name":"Anttu, Nicklas","first_name":"Nicklas","last_name":"Anttu"},{"id":"54556","full_name":"de los Arcos de Pedro, Maria Teresa","orcid":"0000-0002-8684-273X ","last_name":"de los Arcos de Pedro","first_name":"Maria Teresa"},{"last_name":"Weinberger","first_name":"Christian","full_name":"Weinberger, Christian"}],"date_updated":"2026-06-25T12:18:13Z","publication_status":"published","date_created":"2026-06-25T12:16:32Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"302"}],"publication":"ACS Sensors","citation":{"short":"S. We introduce a paradigm shift using a many‐body plasmonic architecture inspired by statistical mechanics. By moving toward the continuum limit, local geometric variations are statistically averaged out, effectively decoupling optical performance from microscopic disorder. We implement this concept via a lithography‐ and etching‐free, multi‐step dewetting strategy, creating wafer‐scale nanoclusters. This process strategically forms a robust many‐body system by introducing numerous small satellite nanoparticles between larger particles. Crucially, this design achieves a high collective enhancement that surpasses even optimized few‐body systems, despite having larger individual gaps. Under optimized conditions, these substrates exhibit a surface‐enhanced Raman scattering enhancement factor approaching 4 × 10^8 with unprecedented reproducibility (RSD of ∼10%). This scalable, low‐cost concept establishes a practical route toward reproducible wafer‐scale nanophotonic platforms for sensing, spectroscopy, and quantum technologies."}],"publisher":"Wiley","_id":"66555","user_id":"30525","status":"public","oa":"1","citation":{"apa":"Kim, M., Devaraj, V., Seo, H., Eom, S., Lee, J., Lee, D., Jeon, M. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid nonlinear optoelectronic device that enhances the detection efficiency of a (001)-oriented GaAs PIN photodiode under telecommunication-wavelength illumination, where absorption is intrinsically limited to two-photon absorption (2PA). Our approach relies on the integration of a transferred, nanopatterned 385 nm-thick (111)-oriented GaAs nanofilm acting as an on-chip nonlinear frequency-conversion layer. Elliptical GaAs nanoresonators are employed to enhance second-harmonic generation (SHG) resonantly, converting incident 1550 nm radiation into above-bandgap photons efficiently absorbed by the underlying diode. Spatially resolved current–voltage measurements reveal a pronounced enhancement of the detector response in regions covered by the nanoantennas. The device exhibits a low dark current, while the metasurface-covered regions show the largest current response under 1560 nm excitation compared to the bare GaAs(100) diode and the unstructured GaAs(111) film. The parametric down-conversion (PDC) process utilized in these interferometers is theoretically described via integro-differential equations describing spatial evolution of the plane-wave operators. It is shown that for the phase sensitivity of these interferometers, supersensitivity can be reached provided that proper diffraction compensation is applied. The phase sensitivity improves if the gain is increased or if the number of effective modes is decreased. This comes at the cost of the phase-region width over which supersensitivity can be reached. Based on the Schmidt mode structure of SU(1,1) interferometers, a processing method is constructed which allows for the experimental retrieval of the levels of squeezing and anti-squeezing of the multimode state generated by the first PDC section of an SU(1,1) interferometer. It is then applied experimentally by collaborators and is found to be in good agreement with the theoretical predictions. Finally, SU(1,1) interferometers pumped with Laguerre-Gaussian beams are analyzed in the context of angular displacement measurements. As either the gain, the OAM index or the radial index of the pump are increased, the measurement uncertainty is decreased, ultimately allowing for supersensitive measurements. Generally, the behavior is the same as for the phase sensitivity.","lang":"eng"}],"citation":{"bibtex":"@book{Scharwald_2026, place={Paderborn}, title={Theoretical investigations of spatially multimode high-gain SU(1,1) interferometers}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2491\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2491</a>}, publisher={Universität Paderborn}, author={Scharwald, Dennis}, year={2026} }","ama":"Scharwald D. <i>Theoretical Investigations of Spatially Multimode High-Gain SU(1,1) Interferometers</i>. These needs are—according to Ainscow’s (2007) inclusive turn—not primarily ‘special educational needs’, but diverse needs of all learners. For the rather segregated German educational system, this endeavour applies especially to primary education, where needs are still developing and pupils are not yet assigned to different types of schooling according to their needs and abilities.\r\n\r\nDespite a substantial amount of research on pupils’ basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence and social relatedness (Ryan et al., 2022), strategies that technology education teachers apply in this regard are not yet well understood. Besides interventional studies on technology education, indicating effectiveness of self‑directed and action‑oriented teaching and learning, there is a dearth of research on how teachers address different needs as a routine.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of the presented study is therefore to investigate and systematize actions and strategies teachers apply, and to specify how pupils' needs are considered when teaching technology education on a given topic.\r\n\r\nThe overall study used a mixed-methods approach to the question how pupils’ needs are characterized by themselves and by their teachers, and how they were taken into account in a lesson adapted and delivered by the teachers. In the sub-study presented here, participating primary school teachers were interviewed about their consideration of pupils’ needs whilst planning and conducting a technology education unit on the functionality of robots.\r\n\r\nThe results gained from qualitative content analysis of the interviews indicate that although the anticipation of different needs is considered challenging, teachers possess a substantiate amount of practices and strategies to take them into account.\r\n\r\nThe paper systematizes the practices teachers described in structured interviews within strategies and discusses the contribution of taking basic needs into account for inclusive technology education.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings","type":"conference","keyword":["Technology Education","Inclusion","Basic Needs","Robotics","Mixed Methods","Teachers' Abilities"],"department":[{"_id":"588"}],"date_created":"2026-06-30T13:04:31Z","status":"public","user_id":"71764","volume":218,"_id":"66093","publisher":"Linköping University Electronic Press","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"mla":"Schröer, Franz, and Claudia Tenberge. “‘They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things.’” <i>Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings</i>, vol. 218, Linköping University Electronic Press, 2026, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3384/ecp213.1455\">10.3384/ecp213.1455</a>.","bibtex":"@inproceedings{Schröer_Tenberge_2026, title={“They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things”}, volume={218}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3384/ecp213.1455\">10.3384/ecp213.1455</a>}, booktitle={Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings}, publisher={Linköping University Electronic Press}, author={Schröer, Franz and Tenberge, Claudia}, year={2026} }","ama":"Schröer F, Tenberge C. “They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things.” In: <i>Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings</i>. By immobilizing the glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin on DONs, DON binding to Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria can be facilitated. Here, we investigate how this multivalent binding is affected by the number and arrangement of the vancomycin modifications on two‐dimensional DONs. We find that for both Gram‐positive\r\n Bacillus subtilis\r\n and Gram‐negative\r\n Escherichia coli\r\n , binding increases with the number of vancomycin modifications per DON. In general, binding to\r\n E. coli\r\n is stronger than to\r\n B. subtilis\r\n , which may be attributed to differences in the architectures of the cell envelopes. Interestingly, for both bacteria, the total number of vancomycin modifications appears to be more important than their arrangement, as DONs with 18 vancomycin molecules on one side show similar binding as DONs with 18 vancomycin molecules distributed over both sides. This enables the attachment of multiple probe molecules to the vancomycin‐free side of the DONs for enhancing detection efficiency without compromising binding affinity. These results may thus provide guidelines for the design and synthesis of vancomycin‐modified DONs for antimicrobial drug delivery and pathogen detection.\r\n
"}],"date_created":"2026-06-30T12:44:05Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"302"}],"year":"2026","title":"Vancomycin‐Mediated Binding of DNA Origami Nanostructures to Gram‐Positive and Gram‐Negative Bacteria","author":[{"full_name":"Coşkuner Leineweber, Özge","first_name":"Özge","last_name":"Coşkuner Leineweber"},{"full_name":"Hofmann, Ulrike","first_name":"Ulrike","last_name":"Hofmann"},{"id":"194","full_name":"Grundmeier, Guido","last_name":"Grundmeier","first_name":"Guido"},{"first_name":"Yixin","last_name":"Zhang","full_name":"Zhang, Yixin"},{"id":"48864","orcid":"0000-0001-7139-3110","last_name":"Keller","first_name":"Adrian Clemens","full_name":"Keller, Adrian Clemens"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1439-4227","1439-7633"]},"date_updated":"2026-06-30T13:01:42Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 27","article_number":"e70436","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1002/cbic.70436","citation":{"ama":"Coşkuner Leineweber Ö, Hofmann U, Grundmeier G, Zhang Y, Keller AC.
