Thin Fe/Cr films with lateral composition gradients were deposited by magnetron sputtering; the analysis of the films was done with microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The local interfacial polymeric film formation could be therefore directly correlated with the Fe:Cr ratio. The local thickness and structure of the formed polycarbonate residue was analyzed by means of imaging ellipsometry, atomic force microscopy as well as Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy under grazing incidence and XPS. Moreover, confocal fluorescence microscopy of the PC melt/alloy interface could reveal the formation of minor degradation products in the interphase region. The results show that already an Fe:Cr ratio of 2 : 1 leads to a strong inhibition of the thermal degradation in comparison to the unalloyed iron, and that in general, the enrichment of chromium in the passive film leads to an effective suppression of interfacial PC degradation. The data contributes to improving the mechanistic understanding of the role of iron during this process. Additionally, a critical concentration of chromium in the alloys used for PC processing can be deduced."}],"issue":"10","publication":"SN Applied Sciences","citation":{"ama":"Theile-Rasche C, Meng T, de los Arcos de Pedro MT, Grundmeier G. Thus, performance analysis should not only focus on outcomes, but also on underlying mechanisms of those outcomes. We adopted principles of the ecological dynamics approach (EDA) to investigate the effect of introducing constraints on players’ joint coordination responses for a football-specific performance drill outcome. Seventeen talented youth football (soccer) players performed a football-specific drill under different conditions: basic constraints, additional defender dummies, stroboscopic glasses, and a combination of the latter two constraints. We recorded these players’ execution time, passing accuracy, and lower extremity joint kinematics. We calculated joint coordination for hip-knee, knee-ankle, and trunk-hip couplings. The added constraints negatively affected execution time and passing accuracy, and caused changes in joint coordination. Furthermore, we identified a relationship between execution time and joint coordination. This study serves as an example how the EDA can be adopted to investigate mechanisms that underlie individual performance in team sports.
"}],"_id":"58703","publisher":"SAGE Publications","page":"161-176","volume":131,"user_id":"46","status":"public","citation":{"ieee":"P. Few attempts have examined the specific effects of variable training in athletes who have undergone ACL reconstruction. Thereby, it is still unclear to what extent the variations in different sensor areas lead to different effects. Accordingly, we compared the effects of versatile movement variations (DL) with variations of movements with emphasis on disrupting visual information (VMT) in athletes who had undergone ACL reconstruction. Forty-five interceptive sports athletes after ACL reconstruction were randomly allocated to a DL group (n = 15), VT group (n = 15), or control group (n = 15). The primary outcome was functional performance (Triple Hop Test). The secondary outcomes included dynamic balance (Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT)), biomechanics during single-leg drop-landing task hip flexion (HF), knee flexion (KF), ankle dorsiflexion (AD), knee valgus (KV), and vertical ground reaction force (VGRF), and kinesiophobia (Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK)) assessed before and after the 8 weeks of interventions. Data were analyzed by means of 3 × 2 repeated measures ANOVA followed by post hoc comparison (Bonferroni) at the significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Significant group × time interaction effects, main effect of time, and main effect of group were found for the triple hop test and all eight directions, SEBT, HF, KF, AD, KV, VGRF, and TSK. There was no significant main effect of group in the HF and triple hop test. Additionally, significant differences in the triple hop test and the seven directions of SEBT, HF, KF, KV, VGRF, and TSK were found between the control group and the DL and VMT groups. Between group differences in AD and the medial direction of SEBT were not significant. Additionally, there were no significant differences between VMT and the control group in the triple hop test and HF variables. Both motor learning (DL and VMT) programs improved outcomes in patients after ACL reconstruction. The findings suggest that DL and VMT training programs lead to comparable improvements in rehabilitation.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Journal of Clinical Medicine","issue":"8","department":[{"_id":"172"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2025-02-19T18:26:09Z","intvolume":" 12","date_updated":"2025-02-19T18:26:24Z","publication_status":"published","author":[{"first_name":"Fatemeh","last_name":"Gholami","full_name":"Gholami, Fatemeh"},{"last_name":"Letafatkar","first_name":"Amir","full_name":"Letafatkar, Amir"},{"last_name":"Moghadas Tabrizi","first_name":"Yousef","full_name":"Moghadas Tabrizi, Yousef"},{"last_name":"Gokeler","first_name":"Alli","full_name":"Gokeler, Alli"},{"first_name":"Giacomo","last_name":"Rossettini","full_name":"Rossettini, Giacomo"},{"first_name":"Hadi Abbaszadeh","last_name":"Ghanati","full_name":"Ghanati, Hadi Abbaszadeh"},{"full_name":"Schöllhorn, Wolfgang Immanuel","first_name":"Wolfgang Immanuel","last_name":"Schöllhorn"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2077-0383"]},"year":"2023","title":"Comparing the Effects of Differential and Visuo-Motor Training on Functional Performance, Biomechanical, and Psychological Factors in Athletes after ACL Reconstruction: A Randomized Controlled Trial","doi":"10.3390/jcm12082845","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"2845","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Gholami_Letafatkar_Moghadas Tabrizi_Gokeler_Rossettini_Ghanati_Schöllhorn_2023, title={Comparing the Effects of Differential and Visuo-Motor Training on Functional Performance, Biomechanical, and Psychological Factors in Athletes after ACL Reconstruction: A Randomized Controlled Trial}, volume={12}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3390/jcm12082845\">10.3390/jcm12082845</a>}, number={82845}, journal={Journal of Clinical Medicine}, publisher={MDPI AG}, author={Gholami, Fatemeh and Letafatkar, Amir and Moghadas Tabrizi, Yousef and Gokeler, Alli and Rossettini, Giacomo and Ghanati, Hadi Abbaszadeh and Schöllhorn, Wolfgang Immanuel}, year={2023} }","chicago":"Gholami, Fatemeh, Amir Letafatkar, Yousef Moghadas Tabrizi, Alli Gokeler, Giacomo Rossettini, Hadi Abbaszadeh Ghanati, and Wolfgang Immanuel Schöllhorn. “Comparing the Effects of Differential and Visuo-Motor Training on Functional Performance, Biomechanical, and Psychological Factors in Athletes after ACL Reconstruction: A Randomized Controlled Trial.” <i>Journal of Clinical Medicine</i> 12, no. 8 (2023). <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3390/jcm12082845\">https://doi.org/10.3390/jcm12082845</a>.","short":"F. The purpose of this case-control study was to examine the effects of cognitive training on joint stiffness regulation in response to negative visual stimuli and knee function following ACLR. A total of 20 ACLR patients and 20 healthy controls received four weeks of online cognitive training. Executive function, joint stiffness in response to emotionally evocative visual stimuli (neutral, fearful, knee injury related), and knee function outcomes before and after the intervention were compared. Both groups improved executive function following the intervention (p = 0.005). The ACLR group had greater mid-range stiffness in response to fearful (p = 0.024) and injury-related pictures (p = 0.017) than neutral contents before the intervention, while no post-intervention stiffness differences were observed among picture types. The ACLR group showed better single-legged hop for distance after cognitive training (p = 0.047), while the healthy group demonstrated no improvement. Cognitive training enhanced executive function, which may reduce joint stiffness dysregulation in response to emotionally arousing images and improve knee function in ACLR patients, presumably by facilitating neural processing necessary for neuromuscular control.
","lang":"eng"}],"article_number":"1875","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.3390/healthcare11131875","year":"2023","title":"Cognitive Training Improves Joint Stiffness Regulation and Function in ACLR Patients Compared to Healthy Controls","author":[{"first_name":"Yong Woo","last_name":"An","full_name":"An, Yong Woo"},{"first_name":"Kyung-Min","last_name":"Kim","full_name":"Kim, Kyung-Min"},{"last_name":"DiTrani Lobacz","first_name":"Andrea","full_name":"DiTrani Lobacz, Andrea"},{"orcid":"0000-0003-2683-5826","last_name":"Baumeister","first_name":"Jochen","full_name":"Baumeister, Jochen","id":"46"},{"first_name":"Jill S.","last_name":"Higginson","full_name":"Higginson, Jill S."},{"full_name":"Rosen, Jeffrey","first_name":"Jeffrey","last_name":"Rosen"},{"first_name":"Charles Buz","last_name":"Swanik","full_name":"Swanik, Charles Buz"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2227-9032"]},"date_updated":"2025-03-11T10:31:53Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 11","citation":{"ieee":"Y. Functionalization by dimethylamine groups in 4‐position of the pyridine backbone significantly influences the properties of the complexes as revealed by comparison with the unfunctionalized references. As a result of the amine functionalization, a higher molar absorption coefficient of the MLCT bands, a decreased photoluminescence quantum yield at room temperature together with a shortened excited state lifetime but an improved photostability is observed. Heart rate variability (HRV) offers easily obtainable diagnostic approaches to SRC-associated dysautonomia, but studies investigating HRV during sleep, a crucial time for post-traumatic cerebral regeneration, are relatively sparse. The aim of this study was to assess nocturnal HRV in athletes during their return to sports (RTS) after SRC in their home environment using wireless wrist sensors (E4, Empatica, Milan, Italy) and to explore possible relations with clinical concussion-associated sleep symptoms. Eighteen SRC athletes wore a wrist sensor obtaining photoplethysmographic data at night during RTS as well as one night after full clinical recovery post RTS (&gt;3 weeks). Nocturnal heart rate and parasympathetic activity of HRV (RMSSD) were calculated and compared using the Mann–Whitney U Test to values of eighteen; matched by sex, age, sport, and expertise, control athletes underwent the identical protocol. During RTS, nocturnal RMSSD of SRC athletes (Mdn = 77.74 ms) showed a trend compared to controls (Mdn = 95.68 ms, p = 0.021, r = −0.382, p adjusted using false discovery rate = 0.126) and positively correlated to “drowsiness” (r = 0.523, p = 0.023, p adjusted = 0.046). Post RTS, no differences in RMSSD between groups were detected. The presented findings in nocturnal cardiac parasympathetic activity during nights of RTS in SRC athletes might be a result of concussion, although its relation to recovery still needs to be elucidated. Utilization of wireless sensors and wearable technologies in home-based settings offer a possibility to obtain helpful objective data in the management of SRC.
","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"9","publication":"Sensors","doi":"10.3390/s23094190","article_number":"4190","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2025-08-28T13:41:09Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 23","year":"2023","title":"Home-Based Measurements of Nocturnal Cardiac Parasympathetic Activity in Athletes during Return to Sport after Sport-Related Concussion","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1424-8220"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Delling","first_name":"Anne Carina","full_name":"Delling, Anne Carina"},{"id":"9583","first_name":"Rasmus","last_name":"Jakobsmeyer","orcid":"0000-0002-9385-0834","full_name":"Jakobsmeyer, Rasmus"},{"last_name":"Coenen","first_name":"Jessica","full_name":"Coenen, Jessica"},{"first_name":"Nele","last_name":"Christiansen","full_name":"Christiansen, Nele"},{"id":"48978","full_name":"Reinsberger, Claus","first_name":"Claus","last_name":"Reinsberger"}],"citation":{"chicago":"Delling, Anne Carina, Rasmus Jakobsmeyer, Jessica Coenen, Nele Christiansen, and Claus Reinsberger. “Home-Based Measurements of Nocturnal Cardiac Parasympathetic Activity in Athletes during Return to Sport after Sport-Related Concussion.” <i>Sensors</i> 23, no. 9 (2023). <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3390/s23094190\">https://doi.org/10.3390/s23094190</a>.","short":"A.C.
