text:
The effects of backbone amine functionalization in three new homoleptic
C^N^C type ruthenium(II) complexes bearing a tridentate bis‐imidazole‐2‐ylidene
pyridine ligand framework are characterized and studied by single crystal diffraction,
electrochemistry, optical spectroscopy and transient absorption spectroscopy in
combination with ab initio DFT calculations. Functionalization by dimethylamine
groups in 4‐position of the pyridine backbone significantly influences the properties
of the complexes as revealed by comparison with the unfunctionalized references.
As a result of the amine functionalization, a higher molar absorption coefficient
of the MLCT bands, a decreased photoluminescence quantum yield at room temperature
together with a shortened excited state lifetime but an improved photostability
is observed. Introduction of electron donating and withdrawing groups at the NHC
unit modifies the electronic and optical properties, such as the oxidation potential,
absorption and emission properties, and the lifetimes of the excited states.

text: "
Zusammenfassung
\r\n Einleitung
Body Mass Index, Krankheitsdauer, Vorerkrankungen,\r\n Sitzendblutdruck
und hypotensiv wirkender Medikamente.
\r\n Ergebnis Bei
Gesamtgruppe um 12,4% (Regressionskoeffizient\r\n                    B=0,117;
p=0,014 *; Exp(B)=1,124).</jats:p><jats:p>\r\n          Schlussfolgerung Systematische
unsystematische, teils geschlechterspezifische\r\n Auftreten
hämodynamischer Regulationsstörungen fordert ein\r\n individualmedizinisch
angelegtes Vorgehen im therapeutischen Alltag.
"

text: "
Zusammenfassung
\r\n Einleitung
"

text:
Sport-related concussions (SRC) are characterized by impaired autonomic
control. Heart rate variability (HRV) offers easily obtainable diagnostic approaches
to SRC-associated dysautonomia, but studies investigating HRV during sleep, a
crucial time for post-traumatic cerebral regeneration, are relatively sparse.
The aim of this study was to assess nocturnal HRV in athletes during their return
to sports (RTS) after SRC in their home environment using wireless wrist sensors
(E4, Empatica, Milan, Italy) and to explore possible relations with clinical concussion-associated
sleep symptoms. Eighteen SRC athletes wore a wrist sensor obtaining photoplethysmographic
data at night during RTS as well as one night after full clinical recovery post
RTS (>3 weeks). Nocturnal heart rate and parasympathetic activity of HRV (RMSSD)
were calculated and compared using the Mann–Whitney U Test to values of eighteen;
matched by sex, age, sport, and expertise, control athletes underwent the identical
protocol. During RTS, nocturnal RMSSD of SRC athletes (Mdn = 77.74 ms) showed
a trend compared to controls (Mdn = 95.68 ms, p = 0.021, r = −0.382, p adjusted
using false discovery rate = 0.126) and positively correlated to “drowsiness”
(r = 0.523, p = 0.023, p adjusted = 0.046). Post RTS, no differences in RMSSD
between groups were detected. The presented findings in nocturnal cardiac parasympathetic
activity during nights of RTS in SRC athletes might be a result of concussion,
although its relation to recovery still needs to be elucidated. Utilization of
wireless sensors and wearable technologies in home-based settings offer a possibility
to obtain helpful objective data in the management of SRC.

text:
Abstract
The biexciton‐exciton emission cascade
commonly used in quantum‐dot systems to generate polarization entanglement yields
photons with intrinsically limited indistinguishability. In the present work,
it focuses on the generation of pairs of photons with high degrees of polarization
entanglement and simultaneously high indistinguishability. It achieves this goal
by selectively reducing the biexciton lifetime with an optical resonator. It demonstrates
that a suitably tailored circular Bragg reflector fulfills the requirements of
sufficient selective Purcell enhancement of biexciton emission paired with spectrally
broad photon extraction and twofold degenerate optical modes. The in‐depth theoretical
study combines (i) the optimization of realistic photonic structures solving Maxwell's
equations from which model parameters are extracted as input for (ii) microscopic
simulations of quantum‐dot cavity excitation dynamics with full access to photon
properties. It reports non‐trivial dependencies on system parameters and use the
predictive power of the combined theoretical approach to determine the optimal
range of Purcell enhancement that maximizes indistinguishability and entanglement
to near unity values, here specifically for the telecom C‐band at 1550 nm.

text:
This review examines the use of continuous-variable spectroscopy techniques
for investigating quantum coherence and light-matter interactions in semiconductor
systems with ultrafast dynamics. Special emphasis is placed on multichannel homodyne
detection as a powerful tool to measure the quantum coherence and the full density
matrix of a polariton system. Observations, such as coherence times that exceed
the nanosecond scale obtained by monitoring the temporal decay of quantum coherence
in a polariton condensate, are discussed. Proof-of-concept experiments and numerical
simulations that demonstrate the enhanced resourcefulness of the produced system
states for modern quantum protocols are assessed. The combination of tailored
resource quantifiers and ultrafast spectroscopy techniques that have recently
been demonstrated paves the way for future applications of quantum information
technologies.

text:
Abstract
Previous research indicates that
performing passes with a head fake in basketball leads to increased response initiation
times and errors as compared to performing a pass without a head fake. These so-called
fake production costs only occurred when not given the time to mentally prepare
the deceptive movement. In the current study, we investigated if extensive practice
could reduce the cognitive costs of producing a pass with head fake. Twenty-four
basketball novices participated in an experiment on five consecutive days. A visual
cue prompted participants to play a pass with or without a head fake either to
the left or right side. The cued action had to be executed after an interstimulus
interval (ISI) of either 0 ms, 400 ms, 800 ms or 1200 ms, allowing for different
movement preparation times. Results indicated higher response initiation times
(ITs) and error rates (ERs) for passes with head fakes for the short preparation
intervals (ISI 0 ms and 400 ms) on the first day but no difference for the longer
preparation intervals (ISI 800 ms and 1200 ms). After only one day of practice,
participants showed reduced fake production costs (for ISI 0 ms) and were even
able to eliminate these cognitive costs when given time to mentally prepare the
movement (for ISI 400 ms). Accordingly, physical practice can reduce the cognitive
costs associated with head-fake generation. This finding is discussed against
the background of the strengthening of stimulus response associations.

text:
Abstract
The biocatalytic kinetic resolution
of cyclic carbonates derived from glycerol is reported. A selection of 26 esterases
and lipases was tested for the asymmetric hydrolysis of the model substrate (epichlorohydrin
carbonate) in aqueous medium. Among them, Pig Liver Esterase and Novozym® 435
showed the best selectivity with E=38 and 49, respectively.
Both enzymes were employed for the conversion of 12 glycerol derivatives under
optimized conditions. The resolution of halogenated carbonates afforded the unconverted
enantiomer in up to >99 : 1 er. Furthermore, Novozym®
435 was successfully recycled 10 times without significant loss of activity. Upscaling
and isolation of the chiral carbonate was also demonstrated. Subsequent conversion
of this chiral building block allowed the direct one‐pot synthesis of (S)‐Guaifenesin,
(S)‐Mephenesin and (S)‐Chlorphenesin
