text: Reputation systems to rate companies’ performances remain largely unexplored
in research and are scarcely used in business-to-business (B2B) practice. Such
systems are essential for businesses seeking trustworthy partners, as they help
reduce information asymmetry, lower buyers' transaction risks, and allow high-quality
service providers to justify premium pricing. Unlike traditional review-based
systems in the business-to-consumer (B2C) context, we propose a B2B reputation
mechanism in which buyers commit to a rating payment before a transaction. Once
the buyer finalizes the rating, this payment is executed and recorded on a blockchain
as an immutable, secure ledger. Our system mimics natural trust-building mechanisms
with ratings that are (1) monetary-based, (2) stake-based, (3) non-aggregated,
(4) involve counter-ratings, (5) selectively sellable, (6) individually comparable,
(7) stored on a blockchain, (8) and monitored by a third instance. This system
provides a novel approach to fostering trust in B2B transactions by reducing information
asymmetry and transaction risk. We illustrate the mechanism’s application in the
consulting sector. Our analysis has identified 23 institutional trust and distrust
dimensions that promote establishing institutional trust through the proposed
mechanism. Qualitative interviews suggest that, while complex and challenging
to apply, this mechanism can foster trust in B2B transactions. Given the low maturity
in the application domain—rating professional business services with business
reputation systems—and solution domain—using monetary stakes for ratings, this
system stands as a potential invention.

text: A preference for music theatre works is characteristic of Hans Werner Henze's
oeuvre, as is his close collaboration with famous 20th-century authors, who wrote
the libretti for his music theatre works. This paper explores the artistic collaborations
of Hans Werner Henze and Ingeborg Bachmann on the one hand and Henze, Chester
Kallman and W.H. Auden on the other in the context of their joint operatic work,
surviving correspondence and poetological essays. This is set against the backdrop
of how personal relationships can influence collaboration in the performing arts.
In both cases, the letters and biographical writings of the aforementioned working
groups, read from a gender perspective and with regard to creativity, forms of
relationship and artistic collaboration, point to a tension between potential
and desired personal relationships, the confrontation with marriage as a conventional
social framework and artistic collaboration as a long-term connection.

like law or medicine,\r\ntrustworthy AI and trust in AI are of increasing scientific
and public relevance. A typical conception,\r\nfor example in the context of medical
diagnosis, is that a knowledgeable user receives AIgenerated\r\nclassification
as advice. Research to improve such interactions often aims to foster the\r\nuser’s
trust, which in turn should improve the combined human-AI performance. Given that
AI\r\nmodels can err, we argue that the possibility to critically review, thus
to distrust, an AI decision is\r\nan equally interesting target of research.\r\nWe
created two image classification scenarios in which the participants received
mock-up\r\nAI advice. The quality of the advice decreases for a phase of the experiment.
We studied the\r\ntask performance, trust and distrust of the participants, and
tested whether an instruction to\r\nremain skeptical and review each piece of
advice led to a better performance compared to a\r\nneutral condition. Our results
indicate that this instruction does not improve but rather worsens\r\nthe participants’
performance. Repeated single-item self-report of trust and distrust shows an\r\nincrease
in trust and a decrease in distrust after the drop in the AI’s classification
quality, with no\r\ndifference between the two instructions. Furthermore, via
a Bayesian Signal Detection Theory\r\nanalysis, we provide a procedure to assess
appropriate reliance in detail, by quantifying whether\r\nthe problems of under-
and over-reliance have been mitigated. We discuss implications of our\r\nresults
for the usage of disclaimers before interacting with AI, as prominently used in
current\r\nLLM-based chatbots, and for trust and distrust research."

text: "Abstract\r\n Ultrasonic transmission
measurements can be used for material characterization, as the propagation time
of sound waves and thus their velocity depends on the elastic material parameters.
Measurement results for the elastic material parameters are acquired non-destructively
using ultrasonic transmission measurements of hollow cylindrical polymer specimens.
To determine the material parameters, an inverse approach is used comparing measurements
with simulated data. Previous studies show that the procedure exhibits low sensitivity
with respect to the shear parameters of the material. In order to increase the
sensitivity, we propose to apply a spatially annular excitation on the base of
the specimen. As a measure to analyse the sensitivities with respect to all parameters
and their linear independence, we observe the volume of the parallelotope of the
sensitivity vectors. Here, a scaled boundary finite element formulation of wave
propagation in the specimen is expanded to yield derivative information directly,
and a sensitivity analysis can be carried out efficiently. Finally, the results
of this sensitivity analysis with regard to the annular excitation are also applied
to the measurement setup."

play a crucial role in mathematics learning, significantly influencing motivation,
academic achievement, and career aspirations in mathematics. With the notable
increase in research on emotions in recent years, our review uses Pekrun’s control-value
theory with two primary objectives: to systematically describe the characteristics
of emotions in recent research through a systematic review, and to synthesize
evidence on the relationships between specific emotions, control-value antecedents,
and mathematics achievement via a meta-analysis. The systematic review of 112
studies revealed that more than 100 specific emotions have been addressed in recent
research, which we analyzed based on key emotion characteristics: valence and
activation, type of object, temporal stability, and social context. The findings
from the systematic review provide an overview of mathematics-specific objects
that emotions have referred to in the most recent research. The subsequent meta-analysis
demonstrated that mathematics achievement (e.g., test scores and grades) was positively
related to enjoyment, hope, and pride (\r\n \r\n
\ $$\\overline{r}$$\r\n \r\n \r\n

text: "HTTPS composes large parts of today’s Internet traffic and has long been
subject to censorship efforts in different countries. While censors analyze the
Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol to block encrypted HTTP traffic, censorship
circumvention efforts have primarily focused on other protocols such as TCP. In
this paper, we hypothesize that the TLS protocol offers previously unseen opportunities
for censorship circumvention techniques. We tested our hypothesis by proposing
possible censorship circumvention techniques that act on the TLS protocol. To
validate the effectiveness of these techniques, we evaluate their acceptance by
popular TLS servers and successfully demonstrate that these techniques can circumvent
censors in China and Iran. In our evaluations, we discovered 38—partially standard-compliant—distinct
censorship circumvention techniques, which we could group into 11 unique categories.
Additionally, we provide novel insights into how China censors TLS traffic by
presenting evidence of at least three distinct censorship appliances. We suspect
that other parts of China’s censorship apparatus and other censors exhibit similar
structures and advocate future censorship research to anticipate them. With this
work, we hope to aid people affected by censorship and stimulate further\r\nresearch
into censorship circumvention using cryptographic protocols."

text: Nachhaltigkeit ist ein Konzept mit einem weiten Bedeutungsspektrum. Dessen
Begriffsinhalt wird u. a. von den Autor:innen in den Diskussionen der weltweit
vielgenutzten Wikipedia intensiv und mitunter kontrovers ausgehandelt. Für begriffliche
Abgrenzungen fechten die Autor:innen die ihres Erachtens inadäquaten Sachverhaltsdarstellungen
etc. an, indem sie entsprechende konzeptuelle Aspekte unterschiedlich explizit
und sprachbewusst durch die Handlung des Negierens als nicht gültig zurückweisen.
Um den Begriff der Nachhaltigkeit zu konturieren, vollziehen die Autor:innen in
Wikipedia-Diskussionen folglich die sprachreflexive, kommunikative Praktik des
WIDERSPRECHENS. Auf der Basis eines Korpus aus den Diskussionen zu den Artikeln
‚Nachhaltigkeit‘, ‚Nachhaltige Entwicklung‘, ‚Umweltschutz‘ etc. der deutschsprachigen
Wikipedia ermittelt dieser Beitrag Tendenzen, welchen Nachhaltigkeitsaspekten
zumeist widersprochen wird, die insofern als besonders umkämpft erachtet werden
können.

text: ' Zusammenfassung: Studien haben gezeigt, dass frühe numerische Kompetenzen
einen Einfluss auf die spätere mathematische Entwicklung haben. Vor diesem Hintergrund
ist es wichtig, die numerischen Kompetenzen bereits im Kindergartenalter zu erfassen,
um Kinder, denen wichtige Kompetenzen für die mathematische Entwicklung fehlen,
und für die das Risiko der Entwicklung von Rechenschwierigkeiten besteht, frühzeitig
und praxistauglich zu identifizieren. In der Studie wird ein Screening zur Erfassung
der numerischen Kompetenzen im Kindergartenalter präsentiert, bei dem ausgewählte
Aufgaben in einem Gruppensetting durchgeführt werden können. An der Validierung
nahmen Kinder im Alter von vier bis sechs Jahren aus der Schweiz ( n = 431) und
aus Deutschland ( n = 325) teil. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass mit dem Screening
in verschiedenen Gruppen (Schweiz, Deutschland) mit wenigen Ausnahmen dieselben
Eigenschaften gemessen werden. Die prognostische Validität für den Zeitpunkt kurz
vor Schuleintritt ist zufriedenstellend. Der Testwert auf Basis des Gruppensettings
lässt sich valide interpretieren, da sich keine Unterschiede zwischen Kindern,
die die Aufgaben einzeln gelöst haben und Kindern, die die Aufgaben in Gruppen
bearbeitet haben, gezeigt haben. Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass das Screening
durch die Kombination von Einzel- und Kleingruppentests die Erfassung numerischer
Fähigkeiten im Kindergarten in kurzer Zeit zuverlässig und valide ermöglicht.

text: Abstract. In the field of mechanical engineering, destructive tests
such as shear tests of mechanical joints are usually followed by imaging methods
such as microsectioning or computed tomography (CT). They can help to interpret
the measured load-displacement curves, analyze the failure behavior and validate
numerical models. However, due to unloading, springback effects and crack closures
can occur, which influence the state of the investigated specimen. In this context,
in situ CT is able to explore the testing process with a specimen under load avoiding
these influences. For in situ CT investigations, the displacement increase is
interrupted at certain stop points. While the displacement is kept constant, the
CT scan is performed. However, it was observed that the reaction force reduces
during CT scanning, e. g. due to settling effects in the test setup. Although
in situ CT is established now in research, little attention is paid to the uncertainties
which arise from the discontinuous testing procedure. This study systematically
explores the impact of these interruptions on the load-displacement behavior and
the geometry of clinch points during tensile shear testing. To quantify the influence
of the interruptions, loads at defined displacement levels and the final geometry
are evaluated statistically. We found, that the load-displacement behavior of
both test groups is similar. Despite some small but significant statistical deviations
of the loads and the final geometry, our results show that, discontinuous testing
has a high level of significance for the phenomena overserved in shear tests with
clinch points.
