Flow forming is recognized for its precision in producing rotationally symmetric components, but the use of metastable austenitic stainless steel (AISI 304L) introduces challenges due to uncontrolled strain-induced α’ martensite formation. Variations in factors such as eccentricity and batch inconsistencies lead to unpredictable microstructural profiles, limiting reproducibility [1,2]. This study addresses these issues by incorporating thermal actuators for cryogenic cooling and induction heating to regulate forming temperatures, enabling control of the α’-martensite content. Experimental investigations demonstrate that local tempering during thermomechanical reverse flow forming produces discernible variations in microstructure, affecting mechanical and magnetic properties [3]. Controlled local adjustments of α’-martensite content allow for customization of properties in seamless tubes, advancing manufacturing capabilities for complex, defect-free components. The magneto-optical Kerr effect analysis was used as a tool to perform a qualitative analysis of the evolution of the magnetic domain structure correlated with the formation of α’-martensite. An analysis of these data allowed to derive surface magnetization hysteresis loops that were compared with integral hysteresis loops of the specimens. It was proven by both methods that the formation of martensite increases the magnetic energy and the spontaneous magnetization of the specimens. The results of this investigation contribute to a better understanding of micromagnetic sensors to monitor and control the formation of α’-martensite in a flow forming. The incremental flow forming process features a large number of process parameter combinations that can be varied from pass to pass or during a pass. In the future however, a more efficient utilization of this large number of process parameter combinations and a compensation of process disturbances could be required. This is due to a rising demand for increasing the part complexity, e.g. by graded property structures or a more complex geometry. In this context, innovative approaches like closed-loop property control and optimal control are advantageous, but require fast process models of flow forming that are not state of the art. This paper thus proposes a new modelling approach of multi-pass flow forming especially taking the transfer behavior between process parameters and wall thickness evolution from pass to pass into focus. A hybrid modelling approach is developed that combines knowledge about the incremental process character with empirical data regression to a basic analytic relation. The basic relation is further extended by a multi-layer neural network to enhance the overall model accuracy. This hybrid modelling approach is finally validated using experimental data. Thus, it is shown that a suitable model structure was found in context of a future closed-loop control or optimal control for multi-pass flow forming.
","lang":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://doi.org/10.21741/9781644903599-140 "}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.21741/9781644903599-140","title":"Real-time modelling of incremental multi-pass flow forming by a hybrid, data-based model","year":"2025","author":[{"first_name":"Lukas","last_name":"Kersting","full_name":"Kersting, Lukas"},{"full_name":"Gunasagran, Sharin Kumar","first_name":"Sharin Kumar","last_name":"Gunasagran"},{"id":"36287","full_name":"Arian, Bahman","last_name":"Arian","first_name":"Bahman"},{"first_name":"Julian","last_name":"Rozo Vaszquez","full_name":"Rozo Vaszquez, Julian"},{"full_name":"Trächtler, Ansgar","last_name":"Trächtler","first_name":"Ansgar","id":"552"},{"id":"233","last_name":"Homberg","first_name":"Werner","full_name":"Homberg, Werner"},{"last_name":"Walther","first_name":"Frank","full_name":"Walther, Frank"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2474-395X"]},"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-10-30T12:53:36Z","intvolume":" 54"},{"status":"public","user_id":"82875","volume":73,"page":"527-540","_id":"62023","publisher":"Walter de Gruyter GmbH","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Kersting_Arian_Rozo Vasquez_Trächtler_Homberg_Walther_2025, title={Modellbasierter Entwurf und Validierung einer Eigenschaftsregelung für das Drückwalzen metastabiler Austenite}, volume={73}, DOI={10.1515/auto-2024-0127}, number={7}, journal={at - Automatisierungstechnik}, publisher={Walter de Gruyter GmbH}, author={Kersting, Lukas and Arian, Bahman and Rozo Vasquez, Julian and Trächtler, Ansgar and Homberg, Werner and Walther, Frank}, year={2025}, pages={527–540} }","ama":"Kersting L, Arian B, Rozo Vasquez J, Trächtler A, Homberg W, Walther F. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die de-taillierte Betrachtung der Ausprägungen akademischer Selbstkonzepte von gewerblich-techni-schen Lehramtsstudierenden im Master of Education zur Analyse der Struktur, Entwicklungsein-flüsse und Beziehungen zwischen verschiedenen Dimensionen akademischer Selbstkonzepte anhand eines sequentiellen Mixed-Methods-Designs. Abschließend werden forschungsmethodische sowie hochschulbildungspraktische Im-plikationen der Ergebnisse diskutiert."},{"text":"Self-concepts are defined as a person's mental representations of themselves and are often the focus of research on the professionalization of teachers due to their importance for the profes-sional success of (pre-service) teachers. The aim of this study is to take a detailed look at the characteristics of academic self-concepts of pre-service technology teachers in their Master of Education to analyze the structure, developmental influences and relationships between differ-ent dimensions of academic self-concepts using a sequential mixed-methods design. This con-sists of a quantitative study (n=115), based on the TPACK model, and a subsequent qualitative interview study (n=18), based on the PCK model. First of all, it is shown that academic self-con-cepts of pre-service teachers can be structured on the basis of professional knowledge models. This applies both to structuring using the TPACK model and the PCK model. Two aspects in par-ticular can be identified as developmental influences: practical experience in school and in the subject area and also the effects of social and dimensional comparison processes. However, the perceived relevance of the respective dimensions of academic self-concepts acts as a modera-tor, particularly with regard to the effects of comparison processes. Concludingly, the research methodological and practical implications of the results for higher education are discussed.","lang":"eng"}],"language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"_id":"60352","publisher":"LibreCat University","doi":"10.17619/UNIPB/1-2266","ddc":["370"],"user_id":"76955","author":[{"last_name":"Vernholz","first_name":"Mats","full_name":"Vernholz, Mats"}],"year":"2025","status":"public","title":"Analyse akademischer Selbstkonzepte gewerblich-technischer Lehramtsstudierender unter besonderer Beachtung soziodemographischer Heterogenität und Vergleichsprozessen als Entwicklungseinflüsse","has_accepted_license":"1","date_updated":"2025-11-03T09:49:03Z","publication_status":"published"},{"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"doi.org/10.1016/j.procir.2025.08.001","author":[{"last_name":"Naumann","first_name":"Marius","full_name":"Naumann, Marius","id":"94950"},{"full_name":"Henne, Kevin","last_name":"Henne","first_name":"Kevin","id":"56918"},{"id":"44763","first_name":"Moritz","last_name":"Ostermann","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1146-0443","full_name":"Ostermann, Moritz"},{"id":"88614","full_name":"Schlosser, Florian","first_name":"Florian","last_name":"Schlosser"},{"id":"86954","last_name":"Meschede","first_name":"Henning","orcid":"0000-0002-1538-089X","full_name":"Meschede, Henning"}],"year":"2025","title":"Modular Energy Demand Modeling of Manufacturing Processes for Energy Efficiency Improvement","intvolume":" 135","date_updated":"2025-11-03T09:56:18Z","date_created":"2025-11-03T09:49:38Z","file":[{"creator":"mariusn","date_created":"2025-11-03T09:49:33Z","file_size":954515,"access_level":"open_access","file_name":"1-s2.0-S2212827125007541-main.pdf","date_updated":"2025-11-03T09:49:33Z","relation":"main_file","content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"62046"}],"department":[{"_id":"644"}],"type":"journal_article","publication":"Procedia CIRP","publisher":"Elsevier","_id":"62045","page":"1351-1358","volume":135,"ddc":["050"],"user_id":"94950","conference":{"name":"32nd CIRP Conference on Life Cycle Engineering (LCE2025)","location":"Manchester"},"status":"public","has_accepted_license":"1","oa":"1","citation":{"ieee":"M. In this work, we evaluate a SYCL implementation for a discontinuous Galerkin discretization of the 2D shallow water equations targeting CPUs, GPUs, and also FPGAs. The discretization uses polynomial orders zero to two on unstructured triangular meshes. Separating memory accesses from the numerical code allow us to optimize data accesses for the target architecture. A performance analysis shows good portability across x86 and ARM CPUs, GPUs from different vendors, and even two variants of Intel Stratix 10 FPGAs. Measuring the energy to solution shows that GPUs yield an up to 10x higher energy efficiency in terms of degrees of freedom per joule compared to CPUs. With custom designed caches, FPGAs offer a meaningful complement to the other architectures with particularly good computational performance on smaller meshes. FPGAs with High Bandwidth Memory are less affected by bandwidth issues and have similar energy efficiency as latest generation CPUs.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2025-11-04T09:37:50Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"27"},{"_id":"518"}],"title":"Analyzing performance portability for a SYCL implementation of the 2D shallow water equations","year":"2025","author":[{"last_name":"Büttner","first_name":"Markus","full_name":"Büttner, Markus"},{"id":"100625","first_name":"Christoph","last_name":"Alt","full_name":"Alt, Christoph"},{"id":"3145","full_name":"Kenter, Tobias","last_name":"Kenter","first_name":"Tobias"},{"first_name":"Harald","last_name":"Köstler","full_name":"Köstler, Harald"},{"id":"16153","first_name":"Christian","orcid":"0000-0001-5728-9982","last_name":"Plessl","full_name":"Plessl, Christian"},{"full_name":"Aizinger, Vadym","last_name":"Aizinger","first_name":"Vadym"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1573-0484"]},"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2025-11-04T09:48:10Z","intvolume":" 81","article_number":"772","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1007/s11227-025-07063-7"},{"place":"New York, NY, USA","oa":"1","citation":{"mla":"Alt, Christoph, et al. “Evaluating OneAPI I/O Pipes in a Case Study of Scaling a SYCL Jacobi Solver to Multiple FPGAs.” Proceedings of the 13th International Workshop on OpenCL and SYCL, Association for Computing Machinery, 2025, doi:10.1145/3731125.3731131.","bibtex":"@inproceedings{Alt_Plessl_Kenter_2025, place={New York, NY, USA}, series={IWOCL ’25}, title={Evaluating oneAPI I/O Pipes in a Case Study of Scaling a SYCL Jacobi Solver to multiple FPGAs}, DOI={10.1145/3731125.3731131}, booktitle={Proceedings of the 13th International Workshop on OpenCL and SYCL}, publisher={Association for Computing Machinery}, author={Alt, Christoph and Plessl, Christian and Kenter, Tobias}, year={2025}, collection={IWOCL ’25} }","ama":"Alt C, Plessl C, Kenter T. Dedicated multi-FPGA clusters provide inter-FPGA networks for direct device to device communication. The oneAPI high-level synthesis toolchain offers I/O pipes to allow user kernels to interact with the networking ports of the FPGA board. In this work, we evaluate using oneAPI I/O pipes for direct FPGA-to-FPGA communication by scaling a SYCL implementation of a Jacobi solver on up to 25 FPGAs in the Noctua 2 cluster.
