Age-matched athletes of other ball sports were included as controls. Before and after each season, neurocognitive performance (6 domain scores), vestibulo-ocular reflex, dynamic visual acuity, and postural control (sway velocity) were objectively assessed in all athletes. Every soccer training and match during the observation period was videotaped to analyze individual heading exposure. Associations between heading frequency (total, in duels, >20 m flight distance) and pre- to post-changes were investigated via Spearman correlation.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
Results
\r\n
103 soccer and 51 control athletes (9-19 years) participated. Neurocognitive scores and sway velocity significantly improved in each season in soccer and control athletes. There were no associations between total heading numbers and changes in any parameter. Over the first season, the more headers played in duels (r = -0.255, 95%CI = -0.474 to -0.006, p = 0.04) and from >20 m distance (r = -0.299, 95%CI = -0.510 to -0.055, p = 0.02) the less psychomotor speed improvement occurred. In the second season, improvements in reaction time were significantly smaller with higher numbers of headers played in duels (r = 0.375, 95%CI = 0.043 to 0.632, p = 0.02) and from >20 m distance (r = 0.359, 95%CI = 0.025 to 0.621, p = 0.03).
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
Conclusions
\r\n
Potential high-impact headers may have affected neurocognitive improvements, exhibiting small to moderate effects. However, the role of V&V engineers is often not given sufficient attention. Based on a systematic literature analysis and practical observations, a four-step method for Test-oriented Resilient Requirements Engineering (ToRRE) is developed. The steps are planning V&V, executing V&V activities, documenting V&V activities and analyzing results of V&V activities. Applying ToRRE ensures continuous information flow and traceability. Engineers are enabled to analyze requirements using engineering artifacts connected through Model-Based Systems Engineering. Adopting methods for Model-Based Effect Chain analysis to evaluated test cases and test scenarios, conclusions on requirements engineering and change management are enabled. The method is evaluated in an EU research project.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2025-08-28T12:53:19Z","keyword":["systems engineering (SE)","product modelling/models","design methods","verification & validation","test cases & test scenarios"],"type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"152"}],"status":"public","conference":{"end_date":"2025-08-14","location":"Dallas, Texas, USA","start_date":"2025-08-11","name":"25th International Conference on Engineering Design"},"has_accepted_license":"1","page":"3031-3040","_id":"61057","publisher":"Cambridge University Press (CUP)","user_id":"81788","ddc":["620"],"volume":5,"citation":{"ama":"Gräßler I, Ebel M. To\r\nsupport situational exploration, unmanned aerial and ground\r\nvehicles attract increasing attention, primarily used to\r\ndocument operational sites. However, they offer further\r\npotential in early operational phases. To ensure their reliable\r\nuse for exploration, decision-makers must be aware of\r\nopportunities and limitations under prevailing conditions. For\r\nthis, use cases for robotic simulation in emergency response\r\nare presented, considering technical restrictions and dynamic\r\ninfluences from weather impacts. The approach of integrating\r\nrescue robot simulation into the response phase is developed\r\nfollowing a five-step research design. Existing use cases of\r\nrescue robot simulation are identified in a systematic literature\r\nanalysis. The results are extended with use cases developed for\r\nurban flooding scenarios. Subsequently, use cases are assessed\r\nand selected for implementation in the simulation environment\r\nGazebo. Finally, the results are validated with end users in the\r\nEU research project CREXDATA, which focuses on decision\r\nsupport based on processing extreme data. The implemented\r\nuse cases demonstrate the potential of robotic simulation in\r\nemergency response to accelerate action planning in decisionmaking and provide a more detailed picture, enabling betterinformed decisions. We also evaluate the support of existing fuzzing visualization tools through the lens of our taxonomy. The main focus lies on the potential interplay between (digital) critical music editions and RISM as complementary approaches to source documentation. While RISM has traditionally concentrated on pre-1800 sources, the vast and complex landscape of 19th-century music-theatrical materials—especially handwritten performance materials, but also printed sources—calls for new collaborative strategies. Drawing on the Faust edition within the OPEN Edirom project, which publishes data in open, structured formats (TEI and MEI) and makes them accessible via the RADAR4Culture repository and the Culture Knowledge Graph, the article argues for closer integration between editorial projects and RISM through stable identifiers and Linked Open Data principles. Editorial descriptions do not compete with RISM records but meaningfully extend them, and vice versa. The case study illustrates how editorial source descriptions and full-text editions could enhance the informational scope and augment the reach of RISM, and how RISM could serve as a basis for more granular, interconnected, and FAIR-compliant musicological research infrastructures. The article proposes RISM as a central access point for distributed research data and outlines the simple yet effective steps researchers can take to enhance discoverability and interoperability: namely, by using (or if necessary, creating) RISM IDs and by publishing data with persistent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).","lang":"eng"},{"lang":"ger","text":"Dieser Beitrag thematisiert aktuelle Herausforderungen und Chancen bei der digitalen Dokumentation und Katalogisierung musikalischer Quellen des 19. Jahrhunderts in Deutschland. From this, we formulate a quantitative physical model of the multi-photon detector response that combines the local detection mechanism and local fluctuations (hotspot formation and intrinsic jitter) with the thermoelectric dynamics of resistive domains. Our model provides an excellent description of the arrival-time histogram of a commercial SNSPD across several orders of magnitude, both in arrival-time probability and across mean photon number. This is achieved with just three fitting parameters: the scaling of the mean arrival time of voltage response pulses, as well as the Gaussian and exponential jitter components. Within the paradigm of model‐based design, the practicality and safety of commissioning feedforward controls and feedback controllers have priority. Our approach leverages probabilistic Gaussian processes to adjust for model inaccuracies from measured system data. This differs from conventional approaches that involve complicated analytical modeling and may entail a substantial time investment to acquire expertise and may prove impractical. Consequently, we address the limitations inherent in traditional design methodologies. Our research focuses on the formulation and solution of the hybrid1 optimal control problem using probabilistic state predictions and multiple shooting. This ensures adaptability, data efficiency, and resilience against uncertainties in system dynamics. These attributes are empirically substantiated through experimental validation on a chaotic and highly sensitive dynamical system—a double pendulum on a cart. Our methodology unfolds as an iterative learning process, systematically exploring diverse controls, accumulating data within each iteration, and refining the control strategy until the desired task is accomplished. The adoption of the two‐degree‐of‐freedom control structure allows for the distinct consideration of the feedforward and the feedback control signal. For the latter, we employ a time‐variant, linear quadratic regulator (LQR) designed to stabilize the system around its target trajectory. Furthermore, we integrate a probabilistic long‐term prediction through the unscented transform, enabling systematic anticipation of safety‐critical violations. Detailed insights into relevant implementation aspects are provided. To ascertain the real‐world applicability, we present an exemplary application involving a double pendulum on a cart. The objective is to bring the pendulum arms from the lower stable to the upper unstable equilibrium by horizontally moving the cart and subsequently stabilize them. In this scenario, we assume that the centrifugal forces, crucial to the system dynamics, have not been accurately modeled and must be learned from data. Solving the control task took only 5 iterations and 1 h of computation time, which surpasses our previous work [2], where we used the purely data‐driven PILCO framework and required 27 iterations and 57 h of computation time. The time of interaction with the system decreased by and the computation time is lowered by . It demonstrates significant practical applicability for commissioning control systems.
"}],"_id":"59740","publisher":"Wiley","user_id":"15402","volume":25,"status":"public","citation":{"apa":"Hesse, M., Schwarzer, L., Timmermann, J., & Trächtler, A. In humans, these periods may partly explain the higher prevalence of osteoporosis in older women compared with men, but lactation patterns in modern humans may reflect cultural influences rather than natural conditions. The extent to which these findings apply to wild-living mammals remains unknown. We measured urinary C-terminal crosslinking telopeptide of Type I collagen (CTX-I) levels, a bone resorption marker, during pregnancy in wild and zoo-housed bonobos (Pan paniscus) and during lactation in wild bonobos. Studying wild-living primates such as bonobos can provide insights into ancestral reproductive adaptations. We found an increase in CTX-I levels towards the end of pregnancy in zoo-housed and primiparous wild females. Contrary to expectations, CTX-I levels during early lactation are lower than in other reproductive phases. This pattern diverges from the assumption that lactation increases bone resorption. Our findings suggest that wild bonobos may use physiological or behavioral strategies to modulate bone metabolism during lactation. These adaptations, shaped in natural environments, provide insight into evolutionary pressures on skeletal health and may inform strategies to mitigate bone loss in humans."}],"issue":"e27","publication":"Evolutionary Human Sciences"}]
