Its growing computational demands make energy efficiency a critical concern. Recent studies demonstrate FPGAs’ superior performance and energy efficiency for computing primitive ERIs, but the computation of highly contracted ERIs introduces significant algorithmic complexity and new design challenges for FPGA acceleration. In this work, we present SORCERI, the first streaming overlay acceleration for highly contracted ERI computations on FPGAs. SORCERI introduces a novel streaming Rys computing unit to calculate roots and weights of Rys polynomials on-chip, and a streaming contraction unit for the contraction of primitive ERIs. This shifts the design bottleneck from limited CPU-FPGA communication bandwidth to available FPGA computation resources. To address practical deployment challenges for a large number of quartet classes, we design three streaming overlays, together with an efficient memory transpose optimization, to cover the 21 most commonly used quartet classes in realistic atomistic simulations. To address the new computation constraints, we use flexible calculation stages with a free-running streaming architecture to achieve high DSP utilization and good timing closure.Experiments demonstrate that SORCERI achieves an average 5.96x, 1.99x, and 1.16x better performance per watt than libint on a 64-core AMD EPYC 7713 CPU, libintx on an Nvidia A40 GPU, and SERI, the prior best-performing FPGA design for primitive ERIs. Furthermore, SORCERI reaches a peak throughput of 44.11 GERIS (109 ERIs per second) that is 1.52x, 1.13x, and 1.93x greater than libint, libintx and SERI, respectively. Using data from a real estate corporation, we simulate the effects of a wealth tax on cash flows from the rental operations. The level of detail of the data enables us to conduct analyses at the annual, regional and year of construction level. A comparison with real estate data from other sources supports external validity. The results of the simulation show that the introduction of a wealth tax can significantly reduce the cash flow from rental operations and lead to liquidity problems. On average over all observations, a wealth tax rate of 2% leads to a negative cash flow after all costs. In general, this finding implies that growth-oriented real estate is more affected by a wealth tax in terms of liquidity than rental yield-oriented real estate. Particularly in large cities with high market values but relatively low rents, the liquidity effects can be more than three times as high as in rural or industrial regions – potentially leading to a relative loss of investment attractiveness. As a wealth tax is decoupled from rental income, the tax burden is very sensitive to market developments, including the interest rate environment. As a result, investments in residential rental real estate are exposed to additional uncertainty. This additional tax uncertainty might impair the willingness to invest and should therefore be taken into account in political discussions on the reintroduction of a wealth tax."}],"citation":{"chicago":"Maiterth, Ralf, Yuri Piper, and Caren Sureth-Sloane. <i>Liquidity Effects of a Wealth Tax on Residential Rental Real Estate</i>. However, apps often use third-party code, complicating accurate disclosures. This paper investigates how accurately current Android apps fulfill these requirements. In this work, we present a multi-layered definition of privacy-related data to correctly report data collection in Android apps. We further create a dataset of privacy-sensitive data classes that may be used as input by an Android app. This dataset takes into account data collected both through the user interface and system APIs. Based on this, we implement a semi-automated prototype that detects and labels privacy-related data collected by a given Android app. We manually examine the data safety sections of 70 Android apps to observe how data collection is reported, identifying instances of over- and under-reporting. We compare our prototype’s results with the data safety sections of 20 apps revealing reporting discrepancies. Using the results from two Messaging and Social Media apps (Signal and Instagram), we discuss how app developers under-report and over-report data collection, respectively, and identify inaccurately reported data categories. A broader study of 7,500 Android apps reveals that apps most frequently collect data that can\r\n partially identify\r\n users. Although system APIs consistently collect large amounts of privacy-related data, user interfaces exhibit some more diverse data collection patterns. A more focused study on various domains of apps reveals that the largest fraction of apps collecting personal data belong to the domain of\r\n Messaging and Social Media\r\n . Our findings show that location is collected frequently by apps, specially from the\r\n E-commerce and Shopping\r\n domain. However, it is often under-reported in app data safety sections. Our results highlight the need for greater consistency in privacy-aware app development and reporting practices.\r\n
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Automated Software Engineering","issue":"2","doi":"10.1007/s10515-025-00589-3","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"45","intvolume":" 33","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-02-11T18:33:12Z","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0928-8910","1573-7535"]},"author":[{"first_name":"Mugdha","last_name":"Khedkar","full_name":"Khedkar, Mugdha","id":"88024"},{"first_name":"Ambuj","last_name":"Kumar Mondal","full_name":"Kumar Mondal, Ambuj"},{"id":"59256","full_name":"Bodden, Eric","last_name":"Bodden","orcid":"0000-0003-3470-3647","first_name":"Eric"}],"title":"A study of privacy-related data collected by Android apps","year":"2026","citation":{"apa":"Khedkar, M., Kumar Mondal, A., &#38; Bodden, E. In distillation, heat pump integration such as mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) can replace fossil‐based utilities, but column parameters like pressure drop should be accurately considered when assessing integration potential. This work discusses the effect of feed preheating and column pressure drop on MVR integration potential. The two binary separation tasks, methanol–water and benzene–toluene, are analyzed to identify energetically optimal preheater and MVR design. This reaction operates at very positive potentials, where the electrocatalyst is exposed to highly oxidative conditions and prone to potential-dependent transformation of the near-surface region. While substantial evidence for such surface restructuring exists, its extent and relevance for the catalyst’s activity are unclear. We address this topic for the case of Co3O4, one of the best-known electrocatalysts exhibiting surface restructuring, by studies of epitaxial (111)-ordered electrodeposited films with combined operando X-ray surface diffraction and absorption spectroscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and electrochemical measurements on rotating disk electrodes. Comparison of the as-prepared and annealed state of the same samples, which both are stable even under long-term oxygen evolution conditions, provides clear insight into the role of surface defects. Our results show that defect-free annealed Co3O4(111) surfaces are structurally stable over a wide potential range and hydroxylate via adsorption at surface oxygen and Co sites. Potential-induced surface restructuring of the Co3O4 lattice occurs only in the presence of surface defects, leading to the formation of the well-known nanometer-thick oxyhydroxide skin layer. The presence of this skin layer promotes oxygen evolution at low overpotentials but results in higher Tafel slopes. As a result, highly ordered Co3O4(111) surfaces are more active at high current densities than defective Co3O4 surfaces that undergo surface restructuring. These results highlight that strategies for catalyst surface defect engineering need to be application-oriented."}],"publication":"ACS Catalysis","department":[{"_id":"985"}],"keyword":["electrocatalysis","oxygen evolution reaction","cobalt spinel","operando characterization"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2026-02-16T14:22:15Z","article_type":"original","date_updated":"2026-02-16T14:25:00Z","publication_status":"published","author":[{"full_name":"Scharf, Carl Hendric","first_name":"Carl Hendric","last_name":"Scharf"},{"first_name":"Alex","last_name":"Chandraraj","full_name":"Chandraraj, Alex"},{"last_name":"Dyk","first_name":"Konrad","full_name":"Dyk, Konrad"},{"full_name":"Stebner, Felix","first_name":"Felix","last_name":"Stebner"},{"full_name":"Lepin, Sören","first_name":"Sören","last_name":"Lepin"},{"first_name":"Jing","last_name":"Tian","full_name":"Tian, Jing"},{"first_name":"Laila","last_name":"El Bergmi Byaz","full_name":"El Bergmi Byaz, Laila"},{"full_name":"Stettner, Jochim","first_name":"Jochim","last_name":"Stettner"},{"id":"117722","last_name":"Leppin","first_name":"Christian","full_name":"Leppin, Christian"},{"last_name":"Kotova","first_name":"Anastasiia","full_name":"Kotova, Anastasiia"},{"id":"117727","full_name":"Reinke, Sebastian","last_name":"Reinke","first_name":"Sebastian"},{"full_name":"Linnemann, Julia","first_name":"Julia","last_name":"Linnemann","orcid":"0000-0001-6883-5424","id":"116779"},{"first_name":"Fouad","last_name":"Maroun","full_name":"Maroun, Fouad"},{"first_name":"Olaf M.","last_name":"Magnussen","full_name":"Magnussen, Olaf M."}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2155-5435","2155-5435"]},"title":"Role of Defects in Reversible Surface Restructuring and Activity of Co3O4 Oxygen Evolution Electrocatalysts","year":"2026","doi":"10.1021/acscatal.5c08785","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acscatal.5c08785","open_access":"1"}],"article_number":"acscatal.5c08785"},{"status":"public","year":"2026","title":"A fully implicit mean-field damage formulation with consistent linearization at large deformations","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1081-2865","1741-3028"]},"author":[{"first_name":"Yingjie","last_name":"Zhan","full_name":"Zhan, Yingjie","id":"93591"},{"first_name":"Ismail","last_name":"Caylak","full_name":"Caylak, Ismail"},{"orcid":"0000-0003-2147-8444","first_name":"Richard","last_name":"Ostwald","full_name":"Ostwald, Richard","id":"106876"},{"id":"335","full_name":"Mahnken, Rolf","first_name":"Rolf","last_name":"Mahnken"},{"first_name":"Enrico","last_name":"Barth","full_name":"Barth, Enrico"},{"first_name":"Eckart","last_name":"Uhlmann","full_name":"Uhlmann, Eckart"}],"date_updated":"2026-02-17T11:22:49Z","publication_status":"published","article_number":"10812865261420809","_id":"64187","publisher":"SAGE Publications","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1177/10812865261420809","user_id":"85414","publication":"Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids","citation":{"ieee":"Y. This study aims to advance the understanding and simulation of CFRP behavior through the development of a hyperelastic-plastic-damage homogenization method combined with mean-field theory. The material responses of both the fiber and matrix are modeled using strain energy functions that account for damage evolution, while a complete linearization of the homogenization process is derived to ensure the consistent implementation of the Newton–Raphson iteration scheme in large deformation simulations. The innovative aspect of this work lies in the constitutive linearization for the hyperelastic-plastic-damage formulation within a mean-field homogenization framework, providing an efficient Newton algorithm for modeling the nonlinear behavior of CFRP. A failure criterion for the hyperelastic model of fibers is introduced, along with a damage saturation variable in rate form for the matrix, effectively capturing damage evolution. Through discrete formulations for the homogenization, the proposed model’s capability is demonstrated via three numerical examples and validated against experimental investigations, proving its effectiveness and reliability in simulating CFRP damage.
","lang":"eng"}],"quality_controlled":"1","date_created":"2026-02-17T11:21:00Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"9"},{"_id":"952"},{"_id":"321"}]}]
