mobilen Augmented Reality Anwendung (mAR-App) namens PEARL (Paderborner Elektrotechnik
In insgesamt
in fünf abgestufte Lernlevel überführt.
Heatmaps
und Zeitverläufe in definierten Areas of Interest (AOI) liefern erste Hinweise

text: 'This thesis examines the development, testing, and evaluation of a mobile
augmented reality application (mAR app), which is designed as a preparation tool
for electrical engineering laboratory courses. The aim is to offer students an
opportunity to work with laboratory equipment - primarily the oscilloscope - realistically
without location and time constraints. The methodological basis is formed by the
macrocycle of design-based research (DBR) as a structured framework and the heuristic
model of the research pentagon, which specifies the implementation at the micro
level. Didactic, technological, motivational, and evaluative components are systematically
examined and further developed in a total of four research pentagons. The first
pentagon focuses on the development of a didactically sound concept based on the
principle of constructive alignment, which incorporates learning objectives, learning
activities, and forms of assessment into five graduated learning levels. These
range from initial orientation to independent problem-solving in a free experimentation
mode. The second phase evaluates the technical feasibility of augmented and virtual
reality (VR) in the laboratory environment using several prototypes. While VR
turns out to be unsuitable due to technical limitations, AR - especially in the
markerless version using the ARCore and ARKit software development kits (SDKs)
    - shows great potential for everyday use. In the third research pentagon, an onboarding
module is created based on the first version of the mobile app (V0.17.01), which
digitally maps the basic functions of a real oscilloscope. During this process,
users are introduced to the virtual oscilloscope and become familiar with the
main functions of the mAR app. The results show an overall neutral to slightly
positive user experience, although technical weaknesses (e.g., reaction time and
object fixing) negatively impact efficiency and controllability. In the fourth
research pentagon, an eye-tracking study is carried out to investigate visual
attention and individual solution strategies of expert and novice users when working
with real oscilloscopes. Heatmaps and time sequences in defined areas of interest
(AOI) provide first indications of differences in gaze behavior between the groups.
The algorithmic scan path analysis, on the other hand, reveals a low degree of
differentiation. The potential of eye tracking as an evaluation method is therefore
critically reflected, but it is still considered to be relevant for future studies
in light of technological advancements and the availability of eye trackers in
mixed reality (MR) glasses. The final summative evaluation is carried out in the
way of a pre-post test design with 70 participants and compares the usage of traditional
materials such as videos and manuals with the improved mAR app. In the intervention
group (IG), significant improvements emerge on both cognitive and affective levels:
performance increases particularly in the areas of application, understanding,
and analysis, while experimental self-concept and subject-related interest rise
and feelings of overload and anxiety regarding the lab courses decline. As a limitation,
the mAR app does not yield a clear advantage over the control group (CG), which
can be attributed both to the highly refined materials and videos used in the
CG and to technical constraints inherent to the mobile implementation: small displays,
2D interfaces on 3D devices, and imprecise touch interaction limit complex, sensitive
motor tasks. These limitations are also reflected in the accompanying user interface
(UI) and user experience (UX) questionnaires, which indicate mixed app ratings.
Both groups show significant learning gains - particularly in the areas of application,
understanding, and analysis. However, a significant advantage of the mAR App cannot
be proven. Affective characteristics such as experimental self-concept and general
experimental interests increase in both groups, while the feeling of fear before
conducting real laboratory work decreases. The app itself achieves average ratings
in user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) questionnaires. The thesis demonstrates
that, despite technical limitations, the mobile AR application can provide a valuable
alternative for preparing students for laboratory courses and familiarizing them
with laboratory equipment. From the very beginning, the primary goal during development
was a modular and flexible app architecture that can be extended with new devices,
tasks, and functions. The main benefit is not in the mobile application itself,
but in the strategic direction of future-oriented and scalable solutions for MR
glasses, which allow immersive and realistic gesture interactions.'

text: Elektronenenergieverlustspektroskopie (engl.
Rauschen solche Messungen dominiert.
    erweitert.

text: Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) is an advanced analytical technique
in transmission electron microscopy, as it provides insights into material characteristics,
such as electronic properties or elemental composition, at the atomic scale. The
precision of every EELS analysis, however, is inherently limited by noises and
blur. This thesis offers a comprehensive understanding of the noise, which is
particularly valuable at low dwell times necessary for beam sensitive materials
and for electron-matter interactions with low frequency of occurrence, where the
noise dominates the measurement. Additionally, correlations encountered in the
noise of an EELS measurement are described from both a theoretical and experimental
perspective. These correlations are caused by a convolution of the noisy signal
with the detector point spread function. Methods for characterizing key noise
parameters of typical detectors are described, allowing the noise model to be
tailored to any EELS detector. Ultimately, a novel deconvolution method enabling
significant sharpening and denoising of EELS measurements is introduced and demonstrated.
Its efficiency is further validated on both simulation and experimental data.
The described advancement offered by the proposed deconvolution method enables
the extension of current electron microscope capabilities, facilitating analysis
that would be unfeasible with existing deconvolution techniques.

text: "This paper deals with the implementation and results of the application of
a multi-stage traffic light control system which includes a simulation-based traffic
estimation and model predictive control.\r\nThe traffic light control system incorporates
a fuzzy system for traffic light phase preselection, followed by a model predictive
control to optimise phase combinations and switching times. Predefined phases
are selected without restrictions in the order according to a multi-objective
optimisation to adapt to the traffic as freely as possible. Initially, the system
is tested in simulations and compared with existing methods and analysed afterwards
for its effectiveness in a prototype commissioning in field tests. Results indicate
high potentials for reducing emissions and waiting times, highlighting the system's
value. However, further refinement is necessary for standard implementation. This
comprehensive approach demonstrates advancements in traffic management technology,
showcasing the potential for enhancing urban mobility and reducing environmental
    impact."

text: The generation of optically broadband Nyquist pulse sequences using an integrated
Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) in a thin-film lithium-niobate (TFLN) platform with
repetition rates of 5 to 32 GHz and optical bandwidths of up to 160 GHz is demonstrated.
Nyquist pulse sequences with high optical bandwidth can be used as synchronization
and control signals in quantum sources based on photon pair generation.

text: "Understanding the entanglement structure of local Hamiltonian ground spaces\r\nis
a physically motivated problem, with applications ranging from tensor\r\nnetwork
design to quantum error-correcting codes. To this end, we study the\r\ncomplexity
of estimating ground state entanglement, and more generally entropy\r\nestimation
for low energy states and Gibbs states. We find, in particular, that\r\nthe classes
qq-QAM [Kobayashi, le Gall, Nishimura, SICOMP 2019] (a quantum\r\nanalogue of
public-coin AM) and QMA(2) (QMA with unentangled proofs) play a\r\ncrucial role
for such problems, showing: (1) Detecting a high-entanglement\r\nground state
is qq-QAM-complete, (2) computing an additive error approximation\r\nto the Helmholtz
free energy (equivalently, a multiplicative error\r\napproximation to the partition
function) is in qq-QAM, (3) detecting a\r\nlow-entanglement ground state is QMA(2)-hard,
and (4) detecting low energy\r\nstates which are close to product states can range
from QMA-complete to\r\nQMA(2)-complete. Our results make progress on an open
question of [Bravyi,\r\nChowdhury, Gosset and Wocjan, Nature Physics 2022] on
free energy, and yield\r\nthe first QMA(2)-complete Hamiltonian problem using
local Hamiltonians (cf. the\r\nsparse QMA(2)-complete Hamiltonian problem of [Chailloux,
    Sattath, CCC 2012])."

text: "One of the most important strategies for reducing CO2 emissions in the mobility
sector is lightweight construction. In particular, the car body offers several
opportunities for weight reduction. Multi-material designs are increasingly being
applied to select the most suitable material for the respective load and ultimately
achieve synergy effects. For example, aluminium castings are used at the nodes
of a spaceframe body. Subsequently, these are joined with profiles to form the
bodyshell. To join different materials mechanical joining techniques, such as
semi-tubular self-piercing riveting, are deployed. According to the current state
of the art, cracks occur in the aluminium castings during the mechanical joining
process as a result of the high degree of deformation. Although the aluminium
casting alloys of the AlSi-system exhibit low ductility, these alloys reveal excellent
castability. In particular, the ability to cast thin structural parts is enabled
by the low liquidus point of the near eutectic aluminium casting alloys.\r\nThis
study addresses the mechanical joining properties of the near eutectic aluminium
casting alloy AlSi12, depending on different microstructures. These are achieved
by annealing processes and modifying agents. Through an adapted heat treatment,
the previously lamellar morphology can be transformed into a globular morphology,
which leads to increased ductility and prevents the formation of cracks during
the self-piercing riveting (SPR). The joinability is investigated using different
die geometries, whereas the joint formation is analysed regarding crack initiation.
To evaluate the increased ductility, microstructural and mechanical tests are
performed and finally, a microstructure-joinability correlation is established."

text: The constantly increasing demand for climate protection and resource conservation
requires innovative and versatile joining processes that improve adaptability
to the joining task and robustness to enable flexible manufacturing on a production
line. Therefore, the versatile SPR (V-SPR) and tumbling SPR (T-SPR) were developed.
Using the example of a mixed material combination HCT590X+Z (t0 = 1.0 mm) / EN
AW-6014 T4 (t0 = 2.0 mm), these processes were examined and compared with regard
to the binding mechanisms form closure and force closure using micrographs, non-destructive
resistance measurements and destructive torsion tests. For this purpose, a new
sample geometry was defined, and the methods were adapted to the SPR process variants.

text: The accurate prediction of crack initiation and propagation is essential for
assessing the structural integrity of mechanically joined components and other
complex assemblies. To overcome the limitations of existing finite element tools,
a modular Python framework has been developed to automate three-dimensional crack
growth simulations. The program combines geometric reconstruction, adaptive remeshing,
and the numerical evaluation of fracture mechanics parameters within a single,
fully automated workflow. The framework builds on open-source components and remains
solver-independent, enabling straightforward integration with commercial or research
finite element codes. A dedicated sequence of modules performs all required steps,
from mesh separation and crack insertion to local submodeling, stress and displacement
mapping, and iterative crack-front update, without manual interaction. The methodology
was verified using a mini-compact tension (Mini-CT) specimen as a benchmark case.
The numerical results demonstrate the accurate reproduction of stress intensity
factors and energy release rates while achieving high computational efficiency
through localized refinement. The developed approach provides a robust basis for
crack growth simulations of geometrically complex or residual stress-affected
structures. Its high degree of automation and flexibility makes it particularly
suited for analyzing cracks in clinched and riveted joints, supporting the predictive
design and durability assessment of joined lightweight structures.

  text:
Abstract. In the development of advanced lightweight automotive solutions,
self-piercing riveting (SPR) offers the possibility of joining multi-material
structures to fulfil a wide variety of requirements. With regard to the entire
process chain, production-related pre-deformations of the parts to be joined can
influence the geometric shape and load capacity of SPR joints. Various studies
have investigated the influence of pre-stretched sheet materials, in the sense
of pre-drawing processes, on the formation of SPR joints. The impact of pre-stretching
sheet metals on the formation of their geometrical characteristics and the shear-tensile
strength of SPR processes was observed [1]. Pre-rolled semi-finished products
are also joined together in mixed material automotive structures, e.g. tailor
rolled blanks. This work aims to investigate the influence of pre-rolled joining
parts on the geometric formation and load-carrying capacity of SPR joints. For
this purpose, sheets of metal are cold-formed using a rolling process to induce
a defined strain-hardening state in the material and then joined in various combinations.
As the degree of deformation increases, the rolling of samples can lead to minimal
accumulation of damage in the sheet materials, which can influence the joint behaviour.
The rolling process, as well as the subsequent joining process, are also investigated
by FEM. The influence of pre-rolled semi-finished products on the strength of
    the SPR joints is investigated.
