  text: Previous work has shown that one can often greatly speed up static analysis
    by computing data flows not for every edge in the program’s control-flow graph
    but instead only along definition-use chains. This yields a so-called sparse static
    analysis. Recent work on SparseDroid has shown that specifically taint analysis
    can be “sparsified” with extraordinary effectiveness because the taint state of
    one variable does not depend on those of others. This allows one to soundly omit
    more flow-function computations than in the general case. In this work, we now
    assess whether this result carries over to the more generic setting of so-called
    Interprocedural Distributive Environment (IDE) problems. Opposed to taint analysis,
    IDE comprises distributive problems with large or even infinitely broad domains,
    such as typestate analysis or linear constant propagation. Specifically, this
    paper presents Sparse IDE, a framework that realizes sparsification for any static
    analysis that fits the IDE framework. We implement Sparse IDE in SparseHeros,
    as an extension to the popular Heros IDE solver, and evaluate its performance
    on real-world Java libraries by comparing it to the baseline IDE algorithm. To
    this end, we design, implement and evaluate a linear constant propagation analysis
    client on top of SparseHeros. Our experiments show that, although IDE analyses
    can only be sparsified with respect to symbols and not (numeric) values, Sparse
    IDE can nonetheless yield significantly lower runtimes and often also memory consumptions
    compared to the original IDE.

  text: "To detect security vulnerabilities, static analysis tools need to be configured
    with security-relevant methods. Current approaches can automatically identify
    such methods using binary relevance machine learning approaches. However, they
    ignore dependencies among security-relevant methods, over-generalize and perform
    poorly in practice. Additionally, users have to nevertheless manually configure
    static analysis tools using the detected methods. Based on feedback from users
    and our observations, the excessive manual steps can often be tedious, error-prone
    and counter-intuitive.\r\n In this paper, we present Dev-Assist, an IntelliJ IDEA
    plugin that detects security-relevant methods using a multi-label machine learning
    approach that considers dependencies among labels. The plugin can automatically
    generate configurations for static analysis tools, run the static analysis, and
    show the results in IntelliJ IDEA. Our experiments reveal that Dev-Assist's machine
    learning approach has a higher F1-Measure than related approaches. Moreover, the
    plugin reduces and simplifies the manual effort required when configuring and
    using static analysis tools."

  text: "Video conferencing systems have become an indispensable part of our world.
    Using video conferencing systems implies the expectation that online meetings
    run as smoothly as in-person meetings. Thus, online meetings need to be just as
    secure and private as in-person meetings, which are secured against disruptive
    factors and unauthorized persons by physical access control mechanisms.\r\n\r\nTo
    show the security dangers of conferencing systems and raise general awareness
    when using these technologies, we analyze the security of two widely used research
    and education open-source video conferencing systems: BigBlueButton and eduMEET.
    Because both systems are very different, we analyzed their architectures, considering
    the respective components with their main tasks, features, and user roles. In
    the following systematic security analyses, we found 50 vulnerabilities. These
    include broken access control, NoSQL injection, and denial of service (DoS). The
    vulnerabilities have root causes of different natures. While BigBlueButton has
    a lot of complexity due to many components, eduMEET, which is relatively young,
    focuses more on features than security. The sheer amount of results and the lack
    of prior work indicate a research gap that needs to be closed since video conferencing
    systems continue to play a significant role in research, education, and everyday
    life."

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The specification of requirements
    and tests are crucial activities in automotive development projects. However,
    due to the increasing complexity of automotive systems, practitioners fail to
    specify requirements and tests for distributed and evolving systems with complex
    interactions when following traditional development processes. To address this
    research gap, we propose a technique that starts with the early identification
    of validation concerns from a stakeholder perspective, which we use to systematically
    design tests that drive a scenario‐based modeling and analysis of system requirements.
    To ensure complete and consistent requirements and test specifications in a form
    that is required in automotive development projects, we develop a Model‐Based
    Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology. This methodology supports system architects
    and test designers in the collaborative application of our technique and in maintaining
    a central system model, in order to automatically derive the required specifications.
    We evaluate our methodology by applying it at KOSTAL (Tier1 supplier) and within
    student projects as part of the masters program Embedded Systems Engineering.
    Our study corroborates that our methodology is applicable and improves existing
    requirements and test specification processes by supporting the integrated and
    stakeholder‐focused modeling of product and validation systems, where the early
    definition of stakeholder and validation concerns fosters a problem‐oriented,
    iterative and test‐driven requirements modeling.</jats:p>
