  text:
Decision-making processes are often based on data and data-driven
machine learning methods in different areas such as recommender systems, medicine,
criminalistics, etc. Well-informed citizens need at least a minimal understanding
and critical reflection of corresponding data-driven machine learning methods.
Decision trees are a method that can foster a preformal understanding of machine
learning. We developed an exploratory teaching unit introducing decision trees
in grade 6 along the question “How can Artificial Intelligence help us decide
whether food is rather recommendable or not?” Students’ performances in an assessment
task and self-assessment show that young learners can use a decision tree to classify
new items and that they found the corresponding teaching unit informative.

  text:
Data Science has become an increasingly important aspect of our everyday
lives as we gain a lot of different insights from data analyses, for example in
the context of environmental issues. In order to make the process of data analyses
comprehensible for lower secondary school students, we developed a data analysis
project for computer science classes, focusing on gaining insights from environmental
data by using the concept of epistemic programming. In this article, we report
on the second implementation of this project, which was conducted in a ninth-grade
computer science class. Concretely, we want to examine, how far the students were
able to create computational essays to conduct reproducible data analyses on their
own. In this regard, the computational essays created with the help of the professional
tool Jupyter Notebooks will be examined in terms of aspects of reproducibility.

text: Companies show an increasing interest in low-code development platforms to
facilitate application development by domain experts without sophisticated software
development knowledge. Thus, companies aim for a more efficient development of
more effective applications since domain experts as so-called citizen developers
are no longer limited by the availability and domain knowledge of trained software
developers. Nevertheless, efficiency and effectiveness of application development
is traditionally also largely influenced by the use of a suitable software development
method. Domain experts are, however, not trained in software development methods.
This introduces a risk of domain experts creating unusable applications or exceeding
the designated time frame of a project (or both). In this paper, we therefore
propose an initial version of a situational software development method which
supports domain experts in manufacturing companies during the low-code development
of applications. The method can be tailored based on situational factors, considering
application requirements, features of the used low-code development platform,
and characteristics of the development team. We also present feedback corroborating
the usefulness of our method and future extension points based on expert interviews.

text: "We study the complexity of problems solvable in deterministic polynomial
time\r\nwith access to an NP or Quantum Merlin-Arthur (QMA)-oracle, such as $P^{NP}$\r\nand
$P^{QMA}$, respectively. The former allows one to classify problems more\r\nfinely
than the Polynomial-Time Hierarchy (PH), whereas the latter\r\ncharacterizes physically
motivated problems such as Approximate Simulation\r\n(APX-SIM) [Ambainis, CCC
2014]. In this area, a central role has been played by\r\nthe classes $P^{NP[\\log]}$
and $P^{QMA[\\log]}$, defined identically to $P^{NP}$\r\nand $P^{QMA}$, except
that only logarithmically many oracle queries are\r\nallowed. Here, [Gottlob,
FOCS 1993] showed that if the adaptive queries made by\r\na $P^{NP}$ machine have
a \"query graph\" which is a tree, then this computation\r\ncan be simulated in
$P^{NP[\\log]}$.\r\n In this work, we first show that for any verification class\r\n$C\\in\\{NP,MA,QCMA,QMA,QMA(2),NEXP,QMA_{\\exp}\\}$,
    any $P^C$ machine with a query\r\ngraph of \"separator number\" $s$ can be simulated
    using deterministic time\r\n$\\exp(s\\log n)$ and $s\\log n$ queries to a $C$-oracle.
When $s\\in O(1)$ (which\r\nincludes the case of $O(1)$-treewidth, and thus also
of trees), this gives an\r\nupper bound of $P^{C[\\log]}$, and when $s\\in O(\\log^k(n))$,
this yields bound\r\n$QP^{C[\\log^{k+1}]}$ (QP meaning quasi-polynomial time).
    We next show how to\r\ncombine Gottlob's \"admissible-weighting function\" framework
with the\r\n\"flag-qubit\" framework of [Watson, Bausch, Gharibian, 2020], obtaining
a\r\nunified approach for embedding $P^C$ computations directly into APX-SIM\r\ninstances
in a black-box fashion. Finally, we formalize a simple no-go\r\nstatement about
    polynomials (c.f. [Krentel, STOC 1986]): Given a multi-linear\r\npolynomial $p$
specified via an arithmetic circuit, if one can \"weakly\r\ncompress\" $p$ so
that its optimal value requires $m$ bits to represent, then\r\n$P^{NP}$ can be
decided with only $m$ queries to an NP-oracle."

text: "The development of new business models is essential for startups to become
successful, as well as for established companies to explore new business opportunities.
However, developing such business models is a continuous challenging activity
where different tasks need to be performed, and business decisions need to be
made. Both have to fit the constantly changeable situation in which the business
model is developed to reduce the risk of developing ineffective business models
with low market penetration. Therefore, a method for developing situation-specific
business models is needed. As a solution, we refine the concept of situational
method engineering (SME) to business model development. SME, in turn, provides
means to construct situation-specific development methods out of fragments from
a method repository.\r\n\r\nWe develop a concept for the continuous situation-specific
development of business models based on design science. The approach uses the
roles of a domain expert, a method engineer, and a business developer together
with a repository with method fragments for developing business models and a repository
with modeling artifacts for supporting the development. Both repositories are
filled by utilizing the experience of domain experts. Out of these repositories,
situation-specific development methods for developing business models can be continuously
composed based on the changeable situation by the method engineer and enacted
by the business developer. We implement it as an open-source tool and evaluate
its applicability in an industrial case study of developing a business model for
a local event platform. Our results show that situation awareness supports the
    continuous development of business models."

text: "Due to the increasing influences of a VUCA world, design thinking workshops
have been established as a standard technique to build solutions according to
uncertain customer needs. Concerning the ongoing pandemic and rising development
of solutions across organizations, more and more workshops were conducted online
with software support. However, existing software tools insufficiently address
the different workshop situations in terms of the process (i.e., fixed tasks to
conduct), the place (e.g., static online whiteboards), and people (i.e., synchronous
working of all stakeholders).\r\nTherefore, we propose a design science study
to develop a situation-specific software support that can be configured with flexible
development processes, different places, and task-related people. Based on practical
experience in existing research projects, we derive the initial design requirements
and map them to a set of design principles. Out of that, we design a concept with
its implementation as a software tool and point out open challenges. "
