  text: "In Haushaltskältegeräten werden in den letzten Jahren immer häufiger Vakuumisolationspaneele
    (VIP) eingesetzt. Hiermit ist es unter anderem möglich, dass die Geräte in die
    Energieeffizienzklassen A bis C klassifiziert werden können. Ein VIP besteht vereinfacht
    aus einer Schutzfolie, die nahezu gasdicht ist und einem Füllmaterial, welches
    für die Formstabilität im Vakuum zuständig ist. Aufgrund von technischen Alterungsprozessen
    kommt es mit der Zeit zu einem Anstieg des Innendrucks im VIP, wodurch die Wärmeleitfähigkeit
    des VIP steigt. Je nach Füllmaterial erfolgt dieser Alterungsprozess unterschiedlich
    schnell. Im Extremfall kann so ein neues Haushalts-kältegerät der Energieeffizienzklasse
    A nach 1 bis 3 Jahren nur noch als Klasse D bis F eingestuft werden.\r\nInnerhalb
    eines Forschungsprojekts wurden Haushaltskältegeräte mit VIP thermografisch untersucht.
    Im Rahmen dieser Studienarbeit wurde ein Versuchsaufbau entwickelt, mit dem die
    zeitliche Veränderung von Wärmebrücken begutachtet werden kann und so Rückschlüsse
    auf den Effizienzverlust der Geräte möglich sind. Der Funkionsnachweises dieses
    Versuchsaufbaus wurden an einem Haushaltskältegerät mit künstlich gealterten Vakuumisolationspaneelen
    durchgeführt. Diese Arbeiten bieten zukünftig die Möglichkeiten Haushaltskältegeräten
    mit VIP bezüglich ihres Degenerationsverhaltens besser zu beurteilen.\r\n"

  text: '<jats:p>Today’s ultrasonic transducers find broad application in diverse
    technology branches and most often cannot be replaced by other actuators. They
    are typically based on lead-containing piezoelectric ceramics. These should be
    replaced for environmental and health issues by lead-free alternatives. Multiple
    material alternatives are already known, but there is a lack of information about
    their technological readiness level. To fill this gap, a small series of prestressed
    longitudinally vibrating transducers was set up with a standard PZT material and
    two lead-free variants within this study. The entire process for building the
    transducers is documented: characteristics of individual ring ceramics, burn-in
    results, and free vibration and characteristics under load are shown. The main
    result is that the investigated lead-free materials are ready to use within ultrasonic
    bolted Langevin transducers (BLTs) for medium-power applications, when the geometrical
    setup of the transducer is adopted. Since lead-free ceramics need higher voltages
    to achieve the same power level, the driving electronics or the mechanical setup
    must be altered specifically for each material. Lower self-heating of the lead-free
    materials might be attractive for heat-sensitive processes.</jats:p>'

  text: <jats:p>Abstract. The assessment of mechanically joined connections, such
    as clinched connections, is usually conducted destructively. Applicable non-destructive
    testing methods like computed tomography are time-consuming and costly, or, like
    electrical resistance measurement, provide only a limited amount of information.
    A fast, non-destructive evaluation of the joints condition shall be made possible
    by using transient dynamic analysis (TDA). It is based on the introduction of
    sound waves and the evaluation of the response behavior after passing through
    the structure. This study focuses the application of TDA to clinched shear connections
    to evaluate the performance of the tactile measuring setup. Twenty-one series
    were investigated, covering variations in joining task, manufacturing and defect.
    The evaluation was carried out using machine learning to determine for which series
    characteristic signals may be detected. It was shown that a classification of
    the investigated specimens is possible, whereby the classification accuracy depends
    on the examined variation. Furthermore, the accuracy was evaluated as a function
    of frequency and results were concluded to identify the limits of the used measuring
    setup.</jats:p>

  text: "Woven fibre-reinforced polymers are used in a variety of application, especially
    where a low mass to stiffness ratio is required. Of paramount importance for the
    tailored mechanical properties these composite materials exhibit is the type and
    geometry of the fibre weave. Especially continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastic
    composites are fabricated as laminates and subsequently exposed to forming processes
    which alter the geometry of the fibres unit cell and thus the local mechanical
    properties of the material. An approach utilising broadband ultrasonic waves is
    proposed to non-destructively determine the geometry of the unit cell of the weave.\r\n\r\nThe
    dispersive behaviour of woven fibre-reinforced sheets is described in accordance
    with the Flouquet-Bloch theorem as a phononic crystal. In order to develop a model
    for a description of these periodically structured waveguides, the smallest repeating
    unit of the wave is modelled with periodic boundary conditions. The resulting
    dispersion diagram exhibits similarities to that of a homogeneous plate, but additionally
    displays a periodicity in the wavenumber regime, which correspond with the size
    of the unit cell. Experimental studies of the dispersive behaviour of acoustic
    waves in woven fibre-reinforced samples also show a periodicity in the wavenumber
    regime, enabling a measurement procedure of the unit cell geometry."

  text: '<jats:p>Abstract. Clinching is a conventional mechanical joining process
    used in Multi-Material Design in the automotive sector. To receive the desired
    geometrical characteristics in clinch joints, correct process design is required.
    To reduce the cost of finding fitting process parameters, numerical simulation
    of the joining process can be used to predict the geometrical characteristics,
    such as interlock, instead of an experimental approach. These numerical simulation
    models consume computational resources and time. In this paper machine learning
    is used to find correlations between features of the joining process and geometrical
    characteristics in the joint. This serves the purpose of predicting the joint’s
    target values more resource-efficiently. Modelling with machine learning requires
    a structured dataset with sufficient parameter variation. To create this data
    base the following procedure was used. For joining partners, a HC340LA steel alloy
    with 2 mm material thickness was used punch-sided and an EN AW 5182 aluminum alloy
    with 1.5 mm thickness was used die-sided. For this combination a suitable tool
    combination and punch distance was experimentally identified. A finite element
    model was created to reproduce the joining process. For the modelling of the material
    of both joining partners flow curves determined by Vallaster et al. were used
    [1]. The punch and die were recreated digitally by opto-electronic measurements
    and transformed into a mesh suitable for numerical simulation. The model was validated
    by comparing process values like the maximum force applied by the punch and geometrical
    values in the joints cross section. Additionally, a process window for suitable
    punch distances was experimentally determined. Afterwards a variation of 70 different
    process designs was conducted with variants inside and outside the process window.
    The results were used for training, testing and validating various machine learning
    models. All models competed against each other to find the must suited model to
    predict every geometric value. To ensure good model performances and prevent the
    model from overfitting, a tenfold cross validation was used for validating the
    models. Analysis of the results gives the following key findings: i) Good predictability
    is reached for the interlock and sheet thickness of the joint. ii) Prediction
    neck thickness showed low error values, but also low correlation. iii)The prediction
    of those key values for evaluating clinch joint characteristics by machine learning
    models positively impacts needed resources in comparison to numerical models.</jats:p>'

  text: Um die international und national beschlossenen Klimaziele zu erreichen, müssen
    die verkehrsbedingten Emissionen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland drastisch reduziert
    werden. Hierzu bedarf es einer umfassenden Mobilitätswende, welche die Etablierung
    emissionsärmerer und effizienterer Mobilitätsformen umfasst. Ein Lösungsansatz
    können on-demand Dienste bieten, die den öffentlichen Personennahverkehr bedarfsgerecht
    gestalten und so dessen Akzeptanz steigern. Zahlreiche bisher eingeführte on-demand
    Dienste mussten jedoch nach Beendigung des Projekt- bzw. Förderzeitraums wieder
    eingestellt werden. Maßgebliche Herausforderungen waren die Integration der Dienste
    in die bestehenden ÖPNV- und Mobilitäts-Strukturen sowie teilweise damit einhergehende
    ökonomische Aspekte. In diesem Beitrag wird eine Methode vorgestellt, welche neben
    der Einführung neuartiger Mobilitätsdienste auch die Entwicklung eines nachhaltigen
    Mobilitäts-Ökosystems anstrebt. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf ländlich geprägten Regionen
    und ihren besonderen Herausforderungen im Bereich des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs.
    Die Methode beschreibt ein fünf-phasiges Handlungsschema, in welchem Potenziale
    bestehender Strukturen genutzt, Mobilitäts-Stakeholder eingebunden und verhärtete
    Mobilitätsverhalten allmählich positiv verändert werden. Anhand der Initiative
    Neue Mobilität Paderborn wird aufgezeigt, dass mithilfe der Methode erste Schritte
    hin zu einem Mobilitäts-Ökosystem absolviert werden können. Darüber hinaus werden
    Einführungsszenarien für die neuartige, sich noch in der Entwicklung befindliche
    Mobilitätslösung NeMo.bil in einer Beispielregion erarbeitet.

  text: <jats:p>Abstract. In the field of mechanical engineering, destructive tests
    such as shear tests of mechanical joints are usually followed by imaging methods
    such as microsectioning or computed tomography (CT). They can help to interpret
    the measured load-displacement curves, analyze the failure behavior and validate
    numerical models. However, due to unloading, springback effects and crack closures
    can occur, which influence the state of the investigated specimen. In this context,
    in situ CT is able to explore the testing process with a specimen under load avoiding
    these influences. For in situ CT investigations, the displacement increase is
    interrupted at certain stop points. While the displacement is kept constant, the
    CT scan is performed. However, it was observed that the reaction force reduces
    during CT scanning, e. g. due to settling effects in the test setup. Although
    in situ CT is established now in research, little attention is paid to the uncertainties
    which arise from the discontinuous testing procedure. This study systematically
    explores the impact of these interruptions on the load-displacement behavior and
    the geometry of clinch points during tensile shear testing. To quantify the influence
    of the interruptions, loads at defined displacement levels and the final geometry
    are evaluated statistically. We found, that the load-displacement behavior of
    both test groups is similar. Despite some small but significant statistical deviations
    of the loads and the final geometry, our results show that, discontinuous testing
    has a high level of significance for the phenomena overserved in shear tests with
    clinch points.</jats:p>

  text: Fibre-reinforced polymers are increasingly used due to their high specific
    strength, making them suitable for local sheet metal reinforcement. This allows
    improved overall mechanical properties with reduced wall thickness of the sheet
    metal part and, thus, lower weight of the components. One of the main focuses
    of research into such hybrid structures is on the adhesive properties and the
    respective failure behaviour of the interfaces. Generally, the failure behaviour
    under the influence of mechanical loads can be divided into adhesive, cohesive
    and mixed-mode failure. The correlation between observed failure behaviour and
    adhesion properties of the hybrid composite materials is analysed in detail in
    this work. The hybrid composite consists of an aluminium sheet of the alloy EN
    AW‑6082 T6 and thermoset carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) prepreg. The aluminium
    sheet was laser pretreated before hybrid production to improve the adhesion properties.
    The specimens studied were produced by the prepreg pressing process, in which
    the components are cured and joined simultaneously. The influences of the thickness
    of the CFRP part, the layup, the fibre orientation at the boundary layer, and
    the laser pretreatment parameters on the properties of the hybrid joints were
    investigated.
