text: Modern traffic control systems are key to cope with current and future traffic
challenges. In this paper information obtained from a microscopic traffic estimation
using various data sources is used to feed a new developed traffic control approach.
The presented method can control a traffic area with multiple traffic light systems
(TLS) reacting to individual road users and pedestrians. In contrast to widespread
green time extension techniques, this control selects the best phase sequence
by analyzing the current traffic state reconstructed in SUMO and its predicted
progress. To achieve this, the key aspect of the control strategy is to use Model
Predictive Control (MPC). In order to maintain realism for real world applications,
among other things, the traffic phase transitions are modelled in detail and integrated
within the prediction. For the efficiency, the approach incorporates a fuzzy logic
preselection of all phases reducing the computational effort. The evaluation itself
is able to be easily adjusted to focus on various objectives like low occupancies,
reducing waiting times and emissions, few number of phase transitions etc. determining
the best switching times for the selected phases. Exemplary traffic simulations
demonstrate the functionality of the MPC-based control and, in addition, some
aspects under development like the real-world communication network are also discussed.

text: Mechanical joining technologies like self-piercing riveting are gaining importance
with regard to environmental protection, as they enable multi-material design
and lightweight construction. A new approach is the use of high nitrogen steel
as rivet material, which allows to omit the usually necessary heat treatment and
coating and thus leads to a shortening of the process chain. Due to the high strain
hardening, however, high tool loads must be expected. Thus, appropriate forming
strategies are needed. Within this contribution, the influence of applying different
temperatures for each forming stage in a two-stage rivet forming process using
the high nitrogen steel 1.3815 is investigated. The findings provide a basic understanding
of the influence of the temperature management when forming high nitrogen steel.
For this purpose, the rivets are not formed at the same temperature in each stage,
but an elevated temperature is applied selectively. Different process routes are
investigated. First, cups are manufactured in stage 1 at room temperature, followed
by stage 2 at 200°C. Second, cups are formed in stage 1 at 200°C and used for
stage 2 at room temperature. By comparing the findings with results when applying
the same temperature in both stages, it is shown that the temperature during the
first forming operation has an effect on the forming behaviour during the second
forming stage. The required forming forces and the resulting rivet hardness can
be influenced by process-adapted temperature application. Furthermore, the causes
for the temperature impact on the residual cup thickness in stage 1 are evaluated
by a cause and effect analysis, which provides a deeper process understanding.
The thermal expansion of the tool and the billet as well as the improved forming
behaviour at 200°C are identified as the main influencing causes on the achieved
    residual cup thickness.

text: "The manufacturing industry contributes immensely to the global emissions
and therefore is\r\na key factor that has to be addressed when a more sustainable
production is desired. Laser Powder\r\nBed Fusion (LPBF) is an AM technique that
offers the possibility to manufacture metal parts in a\r\nmore material efficient
way due to the layer-by-layer build-up. Nevertheless, the processing chain\r\nfor
parts from LPBF contains additional steps like powder atomization, which also
influence the\r\necological footprint of the production chain. Within this work,
a life-cycle model for the production\r\nstep of parts from AlSi10Mg powder material
is developed. The model is supplied with data from\r\nthe powder atomization up
to the production step, either by literature, database or experimental\r\nmeasurements
during production. The footprint in terms of CO2 emissions is then analyzed and\r\nemission-intense
steps are identified. Two manufacturing scenarios are considered to evaluate the\r\nsensitivity
    on the emissions."

  text:
During resistance spot welding of zinc-coated advanced high-strength
steels (AHSSs) for automotive production, liquid metal embrittlement (LME) cracking
may occur in the event of a combination of various unfavorable influences. In
this study, the interactions of different welding current levels and weld times
on the tendency for LME cracking in third-generation AHSSs were investigated.
LME manifested itself as high-penetration cracks around the circumference of the
spot welds for welding currents closely below the expulsion limit. At the same
time, the observed tendency for LME cracking showed no direct correlation with
the overall heat input of the investigated welding processes. To identify a reliable
indicator of the tendency for LME cracking, the local strain rate at the origin
of the observed cracks was analyzed over the course of the welding process via
finite element simulation. While the local strain rate showed a good correlation
with the process-specific LME cracking tendency, it was difficult to interpret
due to its discontinuous course. Therefore, based on the experimental measurement
of electrode displacement during welding, electrode indentation velocity was proposed
as a descriptive indicator for quantifying cracking tendency.

  text:
Multimode integrated interferometers have great potential for both
spectral engineering and metrological applications. However, the material dispersion
of integrated platforms constitutes an obstacle that limits the performance and
precision of such interferometers. At the same time, two-colour nonlinear interferometers
present an important tool for metrological applications, when measurements in
a certain frequency range are difficult. In this manuscript, we theoretically
developed and investigated an integrated multimode two-colour SU(1,1) interferometer
operating in a supersensitive mode. By ensuring the proper design of the integrated
platform, we suppressed the dispersion, thereby significantly increasing the visibility
of the interference pattern. The use of a continuous wave pump laser provided
the symmetry between the spectral shapes of the signal and idler photons concerning
half the pump frequency, despite different photon colours. We demonstrate that
such an interferometer overcomes the classical phase sensitivity limit for wide
parametric gain ranges, when up to 3×104 photons are generated.

text: Within this work, we investigate how data-driven numerical approximation methods
of the Koopman operator can be used in practical control engineering applications.
We refer to the method Extended Dynamic Mode Decomposition (EDMD), which approximates
a nonlinear dynamical system as a linear model. This makes the method ideal for
control engineering applications, because a linear system description is often
assumed for this purpose. Using academic examples, we simulatively analyze the
prediction performance of the learned EDMD models and show how relevant system
properties like stability, controllability, and observability are reflected by
the EDMD model, which is a critical requirement for a successful control design
process. Subsequently, we present our experimental results on a mechatronic test
bench and evaluate the applicability to the control engineering design process.
As a result, the investigated methods are suitable as a low-effort alternative
for the design steps of model building and adaptation in the classical model-based
    controller design method.
