  text: <jats:p>Historical condition monitoring data from technical systems can be
    utilized to develop data-driven models for predicting the remaining useful life
    (RUL) of similar systems, whereas the Health Index (HI) often is a crucial component.
    The development of robust and accurate models requires meaningful features that
    reflect the system’s degradation process, enabling an accurate prediction of the
    system's HI. Traditionally, the identification of those is supported by one of
    various feature ranking methods. In literature, feature interdependencies and
    their transferability across various similar systems are not sufficiently considered
    in feature selection, exacerbating the challenge of HI prediction posed by the
    scarcity of data and system diversity in real-world applications. This work addresses
    this gaps by demonstrating how filter-based feature selection, incorporating failure
    thresholds and cross correlations, enhances feature selection leading to improved
    HI prediction. The proposed methodology is applied to a novel dataset* obtained
    from run-to-failure experiments on geared motors conducted as part of this study,
    which presents the aforementioned challenges. It is revealed that classical feature
    selection, consisting of feature ranking only, leaves potential untapped, which
    is utilized by the proposed selection methodology. It is shown that the proposed
    feature selection methodology leads to the best result with a RMSE of 0.14 in
    predicting the HI of a constructive different gearbox, while the features, determined
    by classical feature selection, lead to a RMSE of 0.19 at best.</jats:p>

  text: This paper investigates the remaining useful lifetime (RUL) estimation of
    bearings under dynamic, i.e., time-varying, operating conditions (OC). Unlike
    conventional studies that assume constant OC in bearing accelerated life tests,
    we introduce a dataset with time-varying OC during run-to-failure experiments,
    simulating real-world scenarios. We explore data-driven approaches to identify
    the transition point from a healthy to an unhealthy state and estimate the RUL.
    Additionally, we examine strategies for integrating OC information to enhance
    RUL estimations. These methodologies are evaluated through numerical experiments
    using various machine learning algorithms.

  text: Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der modellprädiktiven Planung zeitoptimierter
    Trajektorien für mehrachsige kinematisch redundante Mechanismen. Es werden zunächst
    grundlegende Begriffe erläutert, bevor der Stand der Wissenschaft und Technik
    hinsichtlich der Trajektorienplanung von kinematisch redundanten und nicht-redundanten
    Mechanismen sowie der Ausführung von Optimierungen auf Industriesteuerungen vorgestellt
    wird. Im Anschluss wird die modellprädiktive Planung erläutert. Diese nutzt die
    Mehrdeutigkeit bei der Ermittlung der Gelenkpositionen kinematisch redundanter
    Mechanismen, um die Verfahrzeit zwischen Sollpositionen im Rahmen von Punkt-zu-Punkt-Bewegungen
    zu minimieren. Anhand eines kinematisch redundanten hybridkinematischen Mechanismus
    erfolgt zunächst eine simulative Validierung des Ansatzes. Bezogen auf die immer
    flexibler werdenden Fertigungen im Kontext Losgröße-1 sind jedoch echtzeitfähige
    selbstoptimierende Steuerungen erforderlich, die sich zur Laufzeit auf wechselnde
    Aufgaben einstellen und mit weiteren Systemen interagieren. Aus diesem Grund liegt
    der Fokus auf der echtzeitfähigen Ausführung des Ansatzes auf einer Industriesteuerung,
    ein entscheidender Punkt, um die erforderliche Flexibilität und industrielle Einsetzbarkeit
    zu erreichen und gleichzeitig ein signifikanter Unterschied zum Stand der Technik.
    Hierzu erfolgt die Umsetzung auf das reale System und der Nachweis der echtzeitfähigen
    Ausführung mit Optimierungszeiten kleiner einer Millisekunde.

  text: This thesis deals with the model-predictive planning of time-optimized trajectories
    for kinematically redundant multi-axes mechanisms. First, basic terms are explained
    before the current state-of-science and technology with regard to path planning
    for kinematically redundant and non-redundant mechanisms as well as the execution
    of optimizations on industrial controllers is presented. Next, the model-predictive
    planning is explained. Hereby, the ambiguity when calculating the joint positions
    of a kinematically redundant mechanism is used to minimize the movement time between
    set points with regard to point-to-point movements. Using a kinematically redundant
    hybrid mechanism, the approach is first validated with simulations. With regard
    to the increasing demands of more flexible manufacturing in context of batch size-1,
    real-time capable self-optimizing controls are necessary. Such controls adjust
    themselves to changing tasks during runtime and interact with other systems. Therefore,
    the focus is on the real-time execution of the approach on industrial controllers.
    This is a crucial point to achieve the required flexibility and industrial applicability,
    as well as to differ significantly from the state-of-the-art. For this purpose,
    the approach is implemented on the real system and the ability of a real-time
    execution with optimization times less than one millisecond is proven.

  text: '<jats:p>This study evaluates four widely used fracture simulation methods,
    comparing their computational expenses and implementation complexities within
    the finite element (FE) framework when employed on heterogeneous solids. Fracture
    methods considered encompass the intrinsic cohesive zone model (CZM) using zero-thickness
    cohesive interface elements (CIEs), the standard phase-field fracture (SPFM) approach,
    the cohesive phase-field fracture (CPFM) approach, and an innovative hybrid model.
    The hybrid approach combines the CPFM fracture method with the CZM, specifically
    applying the CZM within the interface zone. The finite element model studied is
    characterized by three specific phases: inclusions, matrix, and the interface
    zone. This case study serves as a potential template for meso- or micro-level
    simulations involving a variety of composite materials. The thorough assessment
    of these modeling techniques indicates that the CPFM approach stands out as the
    most effective computational model, provided that the thickness of the interface
    zone is not significantly smaller than that of the other phases. In materials
    like concrete, which contain interfaces within their microstructure, the interface
    thickness is notably small when compared to other phases. This leads to the hybrid
    model standing as the most authentic finite element model, utilizing CIEs within
    the interface to simulate interface debonding. A significant finding from this
    investigation is that within the CPFM method, for a specific interface thickness,
    convergence with the hybrid model can be observed. This suggests that the CPFM
    fracture method could serve as a unified fracture approach for multiphase materials
    when a specific interfacial thickness is used. In addition, this research provides
    valuable insights that can advance efforts to fine-tune material microstructures.
    An investigation of the influence of interfacial material properties, voids, and
    the spatial arrangement of inclusions shows a pronounced effect of these parameters
    on the fracture toughness of the material.</jats:p>'

  text: "In quantitativen Fragebogenstudien arbeiten Forschende mit großen Datensätzen,
    bei deren Erhebung sie häufig auf Online-Fragebögen anstelle der klassischen Paper-Pencil-Fragebögen
    setzen. Forschende bevorzugen diese Art der Datenerhebung, da die Daten direkt
    nach der Eingabe digitalisiert sind; zu\r\nbedenken ist aber auch, dass Online-Fragebögen
    komplexer sind und mehr Vorbereitung benö'gen als Paper-Pencil-Fragebögen.\r\n\r\nIn
    diesem Workshop werden die Tools LimeSurvey und SoSci Survey vorgestellt, wobei
    der Fokus zum einen auf „klassischen“ Umfragen (LimeSurvey) und zum anderen auf
    Experimenten wie Akzeptabilitätsurteilen (SoSci Survey) liegen wird. Außerdem
    werden wir Vor- und Nachteile, Darstellungs- und Designanforderungen sowie Dos
    und Don’ts bei der Erstellung von Online-Fragebögen behandeln. Wenn Sie bereits

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The advantages of implementing demand
    side management (DSM) strategies in biogas production are explored. Specifically,
    the influence of agitation intervals on biogas production and the economic advantages
    of DSM in fermenter agitation are examined. The model‐based study highlights the
    detrimental effects of insufficient agitation, such as reduced active reaction
    volume and diminished biogas yield. The article further delves into the optimal
    agitation intervals corresponding to different electricity price levels and assesses
    the implications of DSM on biogas production. Results substantiate that such strategies,
    particularly at high and low electricity prices, can increase profit while reducing
    greenhouse gas emissions.</jats:p>

  text: The rapid advancement in the electrification of modern vehicles has led to
    a continuous increase in electrical consumers for various comfort and safety functions.
    Ground studs serve as the electrical interface between the conductive vehicle
    body and the onboard network. Drawn arc stud welding is an economical and established
    joining process for producing ground stud joints. The circuits in the onboard
    network are increasingly subject to greater demands regarding current-carrying
    capacity and long-term stability. Reliable signal and power transmission require
    minimal contact resistance at the electrical connection points of the ground stud
    system and must withstand various operating and environmental conditions over
    the entire service life. In this study, a ground stud made of AlMg5, with a ZnNi-coated
    steel cap nut was used on a 2.0 mm thick sheet of AlMg3. The electrical connection
    of the ground studs was made using tinned copper cable lugs and 35 mm² cables.
    To analyze the electrical resistance behavior in an accelerated test, the ground
    studs were subjected to a superimposed load with a cyclic current profile for
    1008 hours under changing climatic conditions. The results show that under the
    chosen operational and environmental conditions, accelerated aging and intermittent
    resistance behavior occur. A characteristic drop in resistance during the test
    indicates the failure point of the electrical connection. The cause of failure
    can be attributed to media penetration into the electrical contact zone. A failure
    of the electrical connection was observed after 512 hours.

  text: "<cf:p>Spring-applied brakes are widely used components in industrial drive
    systems. They provide a braking torque by friction between a mostly organic friction
    lining and a metallic counter surface. Increasing with decreasing size, they currently
    achieve speeds of up to 6,000 rpm, which corresponds to a sliding speed in frictional
    contact of up to 35 m/s. At the same time, there is a trend towards high-speed
    drives, with speeds of 10,000 rpm and above. So far, little is known about the
    behaviour of the friction value and torque of conventional spring-applied brakes
    with low-cost organic friction linings under these operating conditions. For this
    reason, a test rig was develop - ed that allows testing at sliding speeds of up
    to 120 m/s with different load inertias. The tests carried out at KAt so far showed
    that with limited friction work, the conventional spring-applied brake reaches
    the nominal braking torque at higher sliding speeds. \r\nIn addition to thermal
    overload of the friction lining, plastic deformation of the friction bodies can
    also permanently disrupt the operating behaviour of brakes operated at high sliding
    speeds. The plastic deformation of the friction discs manifests itself, for example,
    in a saucer-like shape of the discafs, leading to a reduction in the air gap and
    causing unwanted changes in the friction conditions. This paper describes the
    relationship between friction work and friction coefficient in organic linings
    and the physical mechanism of the deformation process of the friction discs. Based
    on these possible measures to reduce deformation are explained.\r\n</cf:p>"

  text: Die Auslegung von gefügten Bauteilen ermöglicht die Produktion von Strukturbauteilen,
    welche teils aus sehr vielen Einzelteilen bestehen und durch eine hohe Anzahl
    von Fügepunkten verbunden sind. Die Eigenschaften der Einzelteile und die Prozessgrößen
    in der Fertigung unterliegen Schwankungen, die bei der Auslegung berücksichtigt
    werden müssen. Um diese Bauteile stets nach der Spezifikation zu liefern, werden
    die Prozesse gewöhnlich über die gesamte Prozesskette überwacht und das Bauteil
    überdimensioniert. Treten unvorhersehbare Störungen in der Prozesskette auf, kann
    das Bauteil nicht mehr weiter produziert werden. Entweder muss die Störung im
    Prozess behoben werden, was nicht immer möglich ist und die schon teils produzierte
    Charge muss vernichtet werden, oder der Teil der Prozesskette nach der Störung
    muss angepasst werden. Dies kann z.B. durch eine Änderungskonstruktion, wie der
    Anpassung der Fügepunktpositionen und der -anzahl, geschehen. In dieser Dissertation
    wurde eine Auslegungsmethode zur strukturellen elastischen Auslegung punktgefügter
    Bauteile entwickelt, mit der eine Anpassungskonstruktion, z.B. auf solche Störungen,
    möglich ist. Diese Methode basiert auf der Ausnutzung des Einflusses von geometrischen
    Bauteilgrößen, wie z.B. der Bauteildicke und der Fügepunktpositionierung, von
    veränderten Fügepunkteigenschaften sowie dem Verständnis zwischen Prozessgrößen
    und den erzeugten Fügepunkteigenschaften.

  text: The design of joined components enables the production of structural components,
    which consist of many individual parts and are combined by a large number of joining
    elements. Since the properties of the individual parts and the process parameters
    in manufacturing can scatter, the deviations must be considered in the design.
    To always deliver these components according to specification, the processes are
    usually monitored over the entire process chain and the component is over dimensioned.
    If unforeseeable disruptions occur in the process chain, the component can no
    longer be produced. Either the malfunction in the process must be rectified, which
    is not always possible, and the batch that has already been partially produced
    must be destroyed, or the part of the process chain after the malfunction needs
    to be adjusted. This can be done, for example, by changing the design, such as
    adjusting the joints positions and number. In this PhD thesis, a design method
    for structural elastic designing of point-joined components was developed. With
    that method a revised design can be defined, e.g. in order to meet unforeseeable
    disruptions in the process chain. This method is based on the utilization of the
    influence of geometric component parameters, such as component thickness and joint
    positioning, on changed joint properties as well as on the understanding between
    process parameters and the manufactured joint properties.
