  abstract = {{Mesoporous SBA-15 (space group p6mm), KIT-6 (Ia3d) and KIT-5 (Fm3m) silicas, exhibiting different 2-D and 3-D channel- or cage-like pore structure and pore dimensions have been used as supports for iron oxide nanoparticles. The iron modification of the silica was performed according to a frequently used impregnation technique from aqueous iron nitrate solution. The materials were characterized by nitrogen physisorption, X-ray diffraction, TEM–EDX, Moessbauer spectroscopy, and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and tested in the catalytic decomposition of methanol. It is established that the location and dispersion of iron oxide nanoparticles are affected by the pore topology of the support. The most homogeneously dispersed iron oxide nanoparticles are observed using silica host matrix exhibiting a 3-D channel-like structure and pore diameters about 7 nm, and the thus-obtained composites exhibit high catalytic activity and selectivity in methanol decomposition to CO and hydrogen. For all the samples, characterized with a low mesopore volume and small pore diameters/pore entrances, the formation of larger iron oxide particles, mainly located on the outer surface, is observed. Inhomogeneously dispersed iron oxide particles with a large fraction of isolated, strongly interacting with the support, iron species, and possessing low catalytic activity and usually high selectivity to methane, are found for the silicas with relatively larger pores/pore entrances.}},

  abstract = {{For the first time, the problem of optimizing energy for communication and motion is investigated. We consider a single mobile robot with continuous high bandwidth wireless communication, e.g. caused by a multimedia application like video surveillance. This robot is connected to a radio base station and moves with constant speed from a given starting point on the plane to a target point. The task is to find the best path such that the energy consumption for mobility and the communication is optimized. This is motivated by the fact that the energy
consumption of radio devices increases polynomially (at least to
the power of two) with the transmission distance. We introduce efficient approximation algorithms finding the optimal path given the starting point, the target point and the position of the radio stations. We exemplify the influence of the communication cost by a starting scenario with one radio station. We study the performance of the proposed algorithm in simulation, compare it with the scenario without applying our approach, and present the results.}},

@article{27138,
  abstract     = {{
In the present study the relationship between the consumption of different beverage groups and body-weight status in 5 years of study participation in German adolescents was investigated. We used anthropometric and dietary data from 3 d weighed records of 244 subjects between 9 and 18 years of age participating in the Dortmund Nutritional and Anthropometric Longitudinally Designed (DONALD) study. Only subjects with at least four out of six possible weighed dietary records were considered. A repeated-measures regression model (PROC MIXED) was used to analyse the effect of beverage consumption on body-weight status. BMI standard deviation scores (BMI-SDS) and body fat percentage (%BF) were chosen as the dependent variables. In boys, energetic beverage consumption was not associated with BMI-SDS or %BF, neither cross-sectionally nor prospectively. In girls, baseline consumption of energetic beverages did not predict baseline BMI-SDS, baseline %BF, or change in either variable over the study period. However, an increase in energetic beverage consumption over the study period was associated with an increase in BMI-SDS (+0.070 SDS/MJ increase in energetic beverage consumption; P = 0·01). Separate consideration of regular soft drinks and fruit juices revealed that, in girls, BMI-SDS increased with increased fruit juice consumption (+0·096 SDS/MJ increase in fruit juice consumption; P = 0·01), and to a lesser extent with regular soft drink consumption (+0·055 SDS/MJ increase in regular soft drink consumption; P = 0·08). In conclusion, these results suggest that an increase in energetic beverage consumption may result in weight gain, at least in adolescent girls.
}},
