The main concerns, when using ZnO nanoparticles (NP-ZnO) in TFT, are the low charge carrier mobility and the hysteresis when poly(4-vinylphenol) (PVP) is used as gate dielectric. It is well-known that the mobility in NP-ZnO films can be enhanced by the subsequent hydrothermal decomposition of zinc salts. The electrical behavior as a function of time and temperature is investigated, taking the NP-ZnO without addition of zinc acetate as reference. The addition of zinc acetate leads to a device with better performance, with increased drain current level and without the presence of the hysteresis in the transfer characteristic. Mesoporous SnO2 doped with palladium species was prepared and exposed to different gas mixtures at high temperature (600 °C) to simulate long term usage. After each exposure step a fraction of the sample was cooled down to “freeze” the current oxidation state of Pd which was then analyzed by X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Spectroscopy (XANES) using the 'white line' (i.e. the absorption peak corresponding to the transition from the 2p3/2 core level to unoccupied 4 d states) intensity of the L(III) edge as a probe for the oxidation state. The Pd oxidation state correlates with the response of the resistive SnO2 sensor to methane gas, as determined by measuring the gas response to different concentrations of methane. Temperature-aware thread mapping strategies are key for providing dependability in such systems. These strategies rely on measuring the temperature distribution and redicting the thermal behavior of the system when there are changes to the hardware and software running on the FPGA. While there are a number of tools that use thermal models to predict temperature distributions at design time, these tools lack the flexibility to autonomously adjust to changing FPGA configurations. To address this problem we propose a temperature-aware system that empowers FPGA-based reconfigurable multi-cores to autonomously predict the on-chip temperature distribution for pro-active thread remapping. Our system obtains temperature measurements through a self-calibrating grid of sensors and uses area constrained heat-generating circuits in order to generate spatial and temporal temperature gradients. The generated temperature variations are then used to learn the free parameters of the system's thermal model. The system thus acquires an understanding of its own thermal characteristics. We implemented an FPGA system containing a net of 144 temperature sensors on a Xilinx Virtex-6 LX240T FPGA that is aware of its thermal model. The oscillation frequency is 11.6 GHz, which is significantly higher than the modulation bandwidth of less than 4 GHz in the device. The oscillation frequency is determined by an additional resonance frequency in birefringence containing microcavities, which is potentially much higher than the conventional relaxation oscillation frequency. Since some material parameters (mainly \\textgreek{e}S 11, e15and cE 44) do not or only marginally influence the electrical impedance over frequency, it is not sufficient to look only at the electri- cal impedance of discoidal piezoceramics [1]. Moreover, the parameter sensitivities vary with respect to the diameter-thickness ratio of the disc and the design of an ultrasonic transducer's piezoceramic has to match other requirements than those of a good material characterization [2, 3]. That is why it is still desirable to find model based approaches for parameter identification that either keep the technical effort low (e.g., only an impedance measurement) or increase speed of the inversion procedure. In this contribution we answer the question if an additional analytical approximation of cE 44, strictly following the ideas of Theocaris [4], in conjunction with a single measured elec- trical impedance will be sufficient for an accurate simulation of both, electrical impedance and surface normal velocity of a piezoceramic disc. Thereby, the remaining parameters are identified by means of the Inverse Method.
