                    Mathematics textbooks used to be the key resource for students’ self-regulated learning of mathematics. Primarily due to the digitalization of society, students have potentially greater access to a wider range of resources such as internet search engines, learning platforms, educational videos, and Generative AI. Results show that the printed mathematics textbook is the most frequently used resource both in class and outside class. The textbook remains the most relevant resource for key purposes, such as an aid for doing homework and preparing for tests and exams. However, its dominance diminishes with age: in upper secondary school, students increasingly rely on self-created notes, and online resources. Correlation analyses reveal moderate to strong links between in-class and out-of-class use, suggesting an association between resource use and classroom culture. The findings underscore the textbook’s enduring centrality as a foundational, trusted resource within a dynamic and increasingly diverse learning environment. This study calls for pedagogical approaches that integrate textbooks more intentionally within broader resource systems, supporting students’ agency and strategic resource selection in an era of digital abundance.

  abstract     = {{<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>
                  <jats:p>Is explainable AI feasible and desirable, and are explanations of AI decisions always good? Many answer this question in the affirmative, but there is a growing discourse that is suspicious of the promises of explainable AI used to explain decisions towards users, considering it unfeasible, undesirable, and even potentially misleading. Could explainable AI be just a rhetorical foil? This paper proposes that, yes, explainable AI is a rhetorical technology but no, this does not necessarily make it undesirable. It starts by revisiting this debate according to the initial charge against rhetorics by Plato and Aristotle’s response, considering rhetoric pharmacologically, as not only a poison but also a cure for political life. It argues that, just as rhetoric was necessary to take care of the temporalities of public life, in court, the public event, and the assembly, so may explainable AI contribute to a rhetorical context. Yet, whether it does so is conditioned on the extent to which it cultivates the civic virtues relative to a respective context. The paper considers the examples of predictive policing, credit scoring, and prediction markets to argue about ideal states – civic virtues that may be cultivated in each appropriate context – and deviations that point at the risks of explainable AI to lead to domination, conformism, and political recalcitrance.</jats:p>}},

High resolution X‐ray diffraction is performed to determine the lattice constant, using an Anton–Paar DHS1100 stage to vary the sample temperature from 25°C to 900°C, calibrated against the underlying single‐crystalline silicon substrate. A linear increase in

                    <jats:sub>exp</jats:sub>
                    with rising temperature is observed. The thermal expansion behaviour is modelled using Debye´s phonon dispersion. The fitted lattice parameters are used to calculate the thermal expansion coefficient (TEC). At room temperature the TEC is determined to be

                    of ≈905 ± 25 K is obtained, which is very close to our experimental results. Moreover, tensile strain is found to be present in our sample at room temperature, leading to an increase in the TEC. The impact of strain on the thermal properties of cubic GaN is discussed.

  abstract     = {{Mathematical problem solving is a highly complex competence that needs
to be supported throughout the learning process. This study examines the role of
problem-solving heuristics among 73 sixth-grade students in a German secondary
school (Gesamtschule). Specifically, we focus on the empirical relationship between
the occurrence of heuristics, their suitability, and application, as well as their contribution
to problem-solving success. To this end, we developed a heuristic training that
introduced strategy keys (heuristic aid cards) accompanied by explanatory videos. By
leveraging variations in the successful application of the heuristics between students
and across multiple sessions (73 students in 4 training situations and 3 problems
in a final test), we discover from regression models with student and task-fixed effects
that a successful use of heuristics (i.e., an heuristic occurred, that heuristic had
a high suitability regarding the problem, and it was applied correctly) leads to more
successful mathematical problem solving. Regarding the underlying mechanism, we
find that all dimensions of heuristic use (occurrence, suitability, and application
of heuristics) are positively related to problem-solving success. When comparing
the predictive capacity of all three aspects, we identified the correct application of
heuristics as particularly conducive for better problem-solving success. In comparing
the group of students with high to those with low initial math competence, we find no significant differences in the relationship between heuristic use and problemsolving
success across achievement groups. Our results emphasize the crucial role
of heuristic application in mathematical problem solving, which generally benefits
students regardless of their overall math competence.}},

  abstract     = {{The circular economy offers decisive advantages over the currently prevalent linear economy in industry. Firstly, the reuse of products, individual parts and material reduces the need for new production or generation and the associated consumption of energy and resources. Secondly, it helps to avoid the generation of waste. Early consideration of circular economic principles in product development processes is essential to specifically promote reuse, reparability and recycling. Efficient recycling of assemblies requires well-defined strategies. However, various challenges hinder the efficiency of technical recycling processes in industrial applications. This paper presents an Ishikawa (fishbone) diagram-based approach to systematically identify and categorize these influences. The method is implemented within an industrial framework, highlighting key obstacles such as material composition, design constraints, use of technology, framework conditions, economic limitations and regulatory challenges. By applying a scenario analysis, this approach examines potential future developments and their impact on recycling-oriented design choices. This helps to identify critical influencing factors and supports the development of resilient and sustainable industrial practices. This framework will serve as the foundation for developing an automated approach to circular design, enabling industries to more effectively integrate sustainability into their processes and adapt to changing environmental demands.}},

Im Zentrum steht die App Instagram als digitale Öffentlichkeit, in der sogenannte Momfluencerinnen Mutterschaft öffentlich inszenieren und normativ rahmen. Vor dem Hintergrund widersprüchlicher gesellschaftlicher Erwartungen zwischen intensiver Fürsorge und weiblicher Selbstverwirklichung wird mit Hilfe einer Diskursanalyse untersucht, welches Bild der 'guten' Mutter (re-)produziert und legitimiert wird. Anhand von sechs normativen Figuren ‚guter‘ Mutterschaft zeigen die Ergebnisse, dass konkurrierende Anforderungen zu einem scheinbar mühelosen Ideal verschmelzen, bei dem Stress zum Statussymbol wird und Mutterschaft an soziale und ökonomische Privilegien gebunden ist.}},
