text: Compared to conventional polymer processing technologies the material selection
in the Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) process is restricted. To expand the range
of materials the requirements for the material properties and the semi-finished
products (filaments) must be clarified. For this, a machine- and process-independent
rating of the processability is necessary. The established standards for the tensile
strength test apply to specimens with nearly isotropic mechanical properties.
The FDM process generates anisotropic parts. The properties are mainly influenced
by the machine quality and the data processing. It is not possible to test a material
for FDM independently of the machine and the data processing. In this paper, machine
and process specific influences are investigated. Considering these influences,
a custom-built specimen is created to test the tensile strength of the welding
seams for polyamide 6. This procedure allows a machine- and process-independent
rating of the processability in terms of tensile strength for different materials.

den FDM-Prozess an das Material gestellten Anforderungen bekannt sein. Dazu ist
eine von der Maschine und der individuellen Datenaufbereitung möglichst unabhängige
Bewertung der FDM-Verarbeitungseignung wünschenswert. In diesem Artikel werden
eine Prüfmethode und ein dazu entwickelter Probekörper vorgestellt, mit dem die
Schweißnahtfestigkeit verschiedener Polyamid 6 Typen im FDM-Prozess ermittelt
und verglichen wird.

text: Consider a problem in which $n$ jobs that are classified into $k$ types arrive
over time at their release times and are to be scheduled on a single machine so
as to minimize the maximum flow time.The machine requires a setup taking $s$ time
units whenever it switches from processing jobs of one type to jobs of a different
type.We consider the problem as an online problem where each job is only known
to the scheduler as soon as it arrives and where the processing time of a job
only becomes known upon its completion (non-clairvoyance).We are interested in
the potential of simple ``greedy-like'' algorithms.We analyze a modification of
the FIFO strategy and show its competitiveness to be $\Theta(\sqrt{n})$, which
is optimal for the considered class of algorithms.For $k=2$ types it achieves
a constant competitiveness.Our main insight is obtained by an analysis of the
smoothed competitiveness.If processing times $p_j$ are independently perturbed
to $\hat p_j = (1+X_j)p_j$, we obtain a competitiveness of $O(\sigma^{-2} \log^2
n)$ when $X_j$ is drawn from a uniform or a (truncated) normal distribution with
standard deviation $\sigma$.The result proves that bad instances are fragile and
``practically'' one might expect a much better performance than given by the $\Omega(\sqrt{n})$-bound.

text: Piezoelectric inertia motors also known as stick-slip motors or (smooth) impact
drives use the inertia of a body to drive it in small steps by means of an uninterrupted
friction contact. In addition to the typical advantages of piezoelectric motors,
they are especially suited for miniaturisation due to their simple structure and
inherent fine-positioning capability. Originally developed for positioning in
microscopy in the 1980s, they have nowadays also found application in mass-produced
consumer goods. Recent research results are likely to enable more applications
of piezoelectric inertia motors in the future. This contribution gives a critical
overview of their historical development, functional principles, and related terminology.
The most relevant aspects regarding their design i.e., friction contact, solid
state actuator, and electrical excitation are discussed, including aspects of
control and simulation. The article closes with an outlook on possible future
developments and research perspectives.

text: Wie treffen Bankiers ihre Entscheidungen? Wie identifizieren und managen sie
Risiken? Wie funktioniert der Aufbau von Vertrauen im Bankgewerbe? Die Studie
untersucht diese Fragen am Fallbeispiel Griechenlands und zeichnet die Integration
dieses peripheren Finanzmarktes in den europäischen zwischen 1820 und 1914 nach.
Ausgehend von methodischen Anregungen der Behavioural Finance analysiert sie in
neun Fallbeispielen (u.a. Auslandsanleihen, die Gründung der Nationalbank, die
Trockenlegung von Sumpfgebieten, der Kanal von Korinth, die internationale Finanzkommission,
der Handel) die Risikoperzeption und das Investitionsverhalten britischer, französischer,
deutscher und schweizerischer Bankiers. Griechenland im Zeitalter des Philhellenismus
erscheint dabei als »Sehnsuchtsraum«, wo jeder Investor vor dem Hintergrund bestimmter,
polarisierender Stereotype seine Entscheidungen zu füllen hatte, die oft auf die
Antike rekurrierten und stark emotional aufgeladen waren. Durch die Engführung
von Kultur-, politischer und Finanzgeschichte rückt die Vielschichtigkeit der
Risikoperzeption in den Blick, bei der Netzwerke oder der Einfluss der Politik
ebenso Entscheidungen bedingen konnten wie der unbedingte Glaube an wissenschaftliche
Expertise oder nationale Selbstüberschätzung. Die Studie gibt Auskunft darüber,
wie sich die Risikoeinschätzung und das Risikomanagement von Bankiers im Laufe
des 19. Jahrhunderts veränderten

text: Introduction It is not only Greece’s present financial problems and its trouble
to attract foreign investors that encourage the research of the past of this chapter
of financial history. In addition, Greece’s past provides an inspiring case study
that illuminates bankers’ investment decisions in crisis-ridden markets. After
its Struggle for Independence from 1821 onward, Greece became a nation state in
its own right in the year 1830, independent from the Ottoman Empire (Zelepos,
2014, 37-53). In the preceding Ottoman time there was no foreign investment in
the area at all. However by the brink of the Balkan wars in 1911-1912, Greece
was perceived by foreign investors as a well-established investment market for
state loans as well as private investment in various sectors of trade and industry.
How was this process driven forward in spite of the three financial breakdowns
that occurred during this period (1825, 1843 and 1893)? How were the ups and downs
of the Greek economy perceived and interpreted from abroad? The aim of this chapter
is to show interconnections between financial, political and cultural history
concerning the development of foreign investment in Greece.

text: Historians investigating the risk perception of bankers and the decision-making
processes in banks could consider the behavioural finance approach to investigate
their sources. In this chapter, this is illustrated using a case study concerning
the financing of the construction of a maritime canal at Corinth (1882–1893).
It can be shown that the risk perception of the French bank Comptoir d’Escompte
can be analysed following the model of Joseph A. Litterer. The bankers’ investment
decision was influenced by two biases described by behavioural finance as ‘belief
in experts’ and ‘overconfidence’. The analysis of the way these biases came about
and worked allows banking, political and cultural history to be combined in a
coherent narrative

text: For almost three decades, the theory of visual attention (TVA) has been successful
in mathematically describing and explaining a wide variety of phenomena in visual
selection and recognition with high quantitative precision. Interestingly, the
influence of feature contrast on attention has been included in TVA only recently,
although it has been extensively studied outside the TVA framework. The present
approach further develops this extension of TVA’s scope by measuring and modeling
salience. An empirical measure of salience is achieved by linking different (orientation
and luminance) contrasts to a TVA parameter. In the modeling part, the function
relating feature contrasts to salience is described mathematically and tested
against alternatives by Bayesian model comparison. This model comparison reveals
that the power function is an appropriate model of salience growth in the dimensions
of orientation and luminance contrast. Furthermore, if contrasts from the two
