abstract = {{Object-oriented modeling favors the modeling of object behavior from different viewpoints and the successive refinement of behavioral models in the development process. This gives rise to consistency problems of behavioral models. The absence of a formal semantics for UML models and the numerous possibilities of employing behavioral models within the development process lead to the rise of a number of different consistency notions. In this paper, w e discuss the issue of consistency of behavioral models in the UML and present a general methodology how consistency problems can be dealt with. According to the methodology, those aspects of the models relevant to the consistency are mapped to a semantic domain in which precise consistency tests can be formulated. The choice of the semantic domain and the definition of consistency conditions can be used to construct different consistency notions. We show the applicability of our methodology by giving an example of a concrete consistency problem of concurrent object-oriented models.}},

abstract = {{In forced systems with cyclic symmetry localization can occur due toparameter uncertainties. Often, Monte-Carlo simulations are used to findregions, where the system response is sensitive to parameteruncertainties. These simulations require a large computation time. Therefore, an approximate method to calculate the envelopes of thefrequency response functions is developed in this paper. An example of anonlinear system with cyclic symmetry is a bladed disk assembly withfriction dampers. Friction dampers can be installed underneath the bladeplatforms of turbine blades. Due to dry friction and the relative motionbetween blades and dampers, energy is dissipated, which results in areduction of blade vibration amplitudes. By optimizing the mass of thefriction dampers, the best damping effects are obtained, which lead toan increase in the reliability of the turbine. In this paper, thecalculated response of a mistuned bladed disk assembly with frictiondampers is discussed. An approximate method is developed to calculatethe envelopes of the corresponding frequency response function forstatistically varying eigenfrequencies of the blades. Regions wherelocalization can occur with a high probability, are calculated by thismethod.}},

abstract = {{This article presents SAL, a general purpose scripting language for the rapid development of distributed software agents seamlessly embedded in a visual environment. Integrated facilities for dynamic visualization provide sample but powerful means for debugging and domain-oriented animation. SAL agents are arranged on a set of 2D worksheets which can be distributed over different machines. An agent's program is defined by the means of a table specifying a set of state transition rules with a condition and a sequence of actions each. Beyond basic computation and communication, actions can dynamically modify the agent's depiction, its program, and spawn arbitrary processes. A couple of examples demonstrate SAL's applicability in various domains like electronic systems design and process management.}},
