This paper recalibrates the 2005 World3‐03 model. The input parameters are changed to better match empirical data on world development. An iterative method is used to compute and optimize different parameter sets. This improved parameter set results in a World3 simulation that shows the same overshoot and collapse mode in the coming decade as the original business as usual scenario of the LtG standard run. The main effect of the recalibration update is to raise the peaks of most variables and move them a few years into the future. The parameters with the largest relative changes are those related to industrial capital lifetime, pollution transmission delay, and urban‐industrial land development time.</jats:p>","lang":"eng"}]},{"status":"public","abstract":[{"text":"Hybridstrukturen bieten bei Anwendungen mit Biegebeanspruchung ein großes Leichtbaupotenzial, erfordern jedoch komplexe und zum Teil mehrschrittige Fertigungsverfahren. In dieser Arbeit wird ein Verfahren entwickelt, das auf Basis des Fließpressprozesses biegebelastbare Hybridbalken in einem Schritt herstellt. Dazu wird ein Versuchsträger entwickelt, der die Komplexität von Realbauteilen abbildet und für zerstörende sowie zerstörungsfreie Charakterisierungsmethoden geeignet ist. Der Versuchsträger besteht aus einer funktionalisierten Kernstruktur aus Glasfasermattenverstärktem Polypropylen und äußeren Metallgurten aus Stahl- und Aluminiumlegierungen, die mit einem Haftvermittlerfilm versehen sind. Anhand des Versuchsträgers wird ein Fließpresswerkzeug und eine instrumentierte Fertigungsanlage entwickelt, mit der die Hybridstrukturen prototypisch hergestellt werden. Zur Prozessoptimierung wird die Verbindung mechanisch und optisch auf Probenebene analysiert. Weiterhin erfolgen Bauteiluntersuchungen anhand von Dreipunktbiegetests, mit denen das strukturelle Verhalten der Hybridbalken charakterisiert wird. Es wird festgestellt, dass sich mit dem einstufigen Fließpressverfahren sehr gute Verbundfestigkeiten erzielen lassen. Die Temperatur- und Druckführung weisen dabei einen großen Einfluss auf das Ergebnis auf. Anhand der Bauteiluntersuchungen wird bestätigt, dass mit dem entwickelten Verfahren Hybridbalken in nur einem Schritt gefertigt werden können, die vergleichbare mechanische Eigenschaften zu Hybridstrukturkonzepten aus mehrschrittigen Fertigungsverfahren aufweisen.","lang":"ger"},{"text":"Hybrid structures provide a high potential for lightweight design in applications with bending loads, but require complex and sometimes multi-step manufacturing processes. In this work, a process is developed that produces hybrid beams with high bending strength in one step based on the compression moulding process. For this purpose, a prototype beam is developed that represents the complexity of real components and is suitable for destructive as well as non-destructive characterisation methods. The prototype beam consists of a functionalised core structure made of glass mat reinforced polypropylene and outer metal belts made of steel and aluminium alloys, which are coated with an adhesive film. A moulding tool and an instrumented production line are developed, with which the hybrid structures are prototypically manufactured. For process optimisation, the joint is analysed mechanically and optically at sample level. Furthermore, component investigations are carried out using three-point bending tests to characterise the structural behaviour of the hybrid beams. It is found that very good joint strengths can be achieved with the one-step compression moulding process. The temperature and pressure control have a major influence on the result. A promising\r\nprocess to manufacture these nanoparticles is flame spray pyrolysis (FSP). A lack of understanding of the\r\nindividual sub-processes in FSP makes it challenging to tailor nanoparticle properties. This work provides\r\ninsights into the formation of iron oxide nanoparticles in a turbulent spray flame using Large Eddy Simulations\r\n(LES), which are based on a comprehensive model, including customized submodels. Highlights are the\r\nadaption of a turbulent combustion model and a bivariate hybrid method of moments for modeling nanoparticle\r\ndynamics. The work focuses on the SpraySyn burner, which is a standardized laboratory burner and was\r\noperated with a precursor-solvent mixture of ethanol and iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate. For studying the\r\nrelevance of precursor chemistry, LES using an evaporation-limited precursor chemistry model is compared\r\nwith a model that includes detailed iron chemistry. A further novelty is the inclusion of adsorption in the\r\nsimulation, which defines a third model for comparison. Sufficient validation is achieved for the undoped LES\r\nusing experimental data from the literature. A strong impact of the detailed iron chemistry and adsorption\r\nis found on the precursor consumption and the aggregate and primary particle formation. Comparing the\r\nparticle diameters with experimental measurements from the literature and data generated for this work is\r\nfound unsuitable to asses the precursor chemistry model and revealed an urgent need for future experimental\r\nand numerical research. The principle of the FDM process is the strand wise deposition of molten thermoplastic polymers, by feeding a filament trough a heated nozzle. Due to the strand and layer wise deposition the cooling of the manufactured component is not uniform. This leads to dimensional deviations which may cause the component to be unusable for the desired application. In this paper, a method is described which is based on the shrinkage compensation through the adaption of every single raster line in components manufactured with the FDM process. The shrinkage compensation is based on a model resulting from a DOE which considers the main influencing factors on the shrinkage behavior of raster lines in the FDM process. An in‐house developed software analyzes the component and locally applies the shrinkage compensation with consideration of the boundary conditions, e.g., the position of the raster line in the component and the process parameters. The behavior of CBS is simulated with a micropolar model, whereby the additional degree of freedom of the model describes the rotation of the sand grains. The model is used to generate a shear band under pressure for three different meshes, where the force‐displacement curves of the three meshes converge so that no mesh dependence occurs. Another requirement of the model is the consideration of asymmetric behavior for compression and tension. Due to the additional degree of freedom the implicit implementation of the micropolar continuum is very time‐consuming. Therefore, an explicit implementation is considered as an alternative possibility.
