  text: "The state of the art shows that PBF-LB/M offers great potential for pressure-loaded
    parts, with significant weight reductions and simultaneous optimization of flow
    resistance. This study is aimed at applying existing calculation methods for pressure-loaded
    parts to additively manufactured pipe structures, considering the two materials
    EN AC-43000 (3.2381, AlSi10Mg) and AISI 316L (1.4404, X2CrNiMo17-12-2). For this
    purpose, systematic tensile tests are carried out for both materials. In addition,
    a statistical evaluation is performed to determine the design-relevant strength
    characteristics with a survival probability Ps of 97.5 % for both materials in
    the as-built and heat-treated condition.\r\nPipe specimens are manufactured, half
    of which are heat treated, geometrically measured and then subjected to a burst
    pressure test to experimentally determine the failure-critical internal pressure.
    These results are compared with calculated burst pressures. The calculations are
    based on the application-relevant methods identified in this study, considering
    the strength values determined for the respective material condition. This comparison
    is used to assess the suitability of the calculation methods for additively manufactured
    pipe structures, based on the materials investigated."

  text: 'Der Beitrag konzentriert sich am Beispiel des IVAR Planers auf die virtuellen
    Einrichtungstools des Einrichtungskonzerns IKEA und fragt danach, welche Politiken
    des Wohnens und Einrichtens sich aus der Medialität dieser virtuellen Umgebungen
    ergeben. Anhand von Stefan Riegers Überlegungen zum virtuellen Testen werden diese
    Planungstools einerseits als auf Dauer gestellte Testumgebungen verstanden, die
    es den Kund*innen erlauben, das eigene Zuhause – ökologisch wie ökonomisch niederschwellig
    – virtuell immer wieder einzurichten. Andererseits werden die Anrufungen zur Kreativität,
    die ständig an die Kund*innen gerichtet werden, in die Überlegungen mit einbezogen,
    weil sich daraus eine paradoxe Konstellation ergibt: Zum einen sollen so die virtuellen
    Einrichtungstools kreatives Potenzial und eigenständige Gestaltung aufrufen; zum
    anderen werden diese Aufrufe aber durch die Medialität der Tools eingehegt und
    damit zu einem Steuerungsregime.'

  text: 'Using the example of the IVAR planner, the article focuses on the virtual
    furnishing tools of the furniture company IKEA and asks which policies of living
    and furnishing result from the mediality of these virtual environments. Based
    on Stefan Rieger’s reflections on virtual testing, these planning tools are understood
    on the one hand as permanent test environments that allow customers to furnish
    their own homes virtually again and again – in an ecologically and economically
    low-threshold way. On the other hand, the appeals for creativity that are constantly
    made to customers are included in the considerations because this results in a
    paradoxical constellation: On the one hand, the virtual furnishing tools are intended
    to invoke creative potential and independent design; on the other hand, however,
    these invocations are contained by the mediality of the tools and thus become
    a control regime.'

    der Computer zum Bestandteil des Wohnalltags? Und wie verhält es sich dabei mit
    Praktiken des Wohnens und Wohnungseinrichtens? Die Beiträger*innen werfen einen
    Blick auf die Computerisierung des Zuhauses und zeigen, wie sie sich vollzieht.
    Der Fokus ihrer Analysen liegt einerseits darauf, wie Arbeit und Assistenz das
    Wohnen im Hinblick auf den Computer prägen. Andererseits denken sie den Computer
    aus der Perspektive der Wohnumgebungen neu und geben so einen kompakten medienhistorischen
    Überblick über den Beginn des Smart Homes.

    purpose of this paper is to develop new methods of error representation to improve
    the accuracy and numerical efficiency of a posteriori and goal-oriented adaptive
    framework of elastoplasticity with Prandtl–Reuss type material laws.</jats:p>\r\n
    \                 </jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:sec>\r\n                    <jats:title>Design/methodology/approach</jats:title>\r\n
    \                   <jats:p>To obtain new methods of error representation for
    a posteriori and goal-oriented error estimators, weak forms of primal and dual
    problems are investigated starting with the initial boundary value problem (IBVP).
    Then, we approximate both problems using temporal discretization. Additionally,
    we introduce a secant form considering the nonlinearity of elasto-plastic constitutive
    equations, which is approximated by a tangent form. Finally, we obtain numerical
    primal and dual solutions and their corresponding error approximations of discretized
    primal and dual problems, allowing to build several goal-oriented a posteriori
    error estimators on temporal and spatial adaptive refinement by inserting primal
    solutions, dual solutions and their error approximations as arguments in residuals
    of both weak forms as well as in the secant form of the bilinear residual.</jats:p>\r\n
    \                 </jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:sec>\r\n                    <jats:title>Findings</jats:title>\r\n
    \                   <jats:p>An elasto-plastic material is investigated in a framework
    of goal-oriented error estimator by using separately several methods of error
    representation to deal with either temporal or spatial adaptive refinement, as
    well as with both refinements leading to an effective reduction of computational
    effort. Specifically, new error representations based on goal-oriented error estimators
    are presented and obtained from primal and dual residuals, which use only primal
    solutions or only dual solutions or a combination of primal and dual solutions
    as arguments. Error representations obtained from primal residuals and evaluated
    using only primal arguments do not require the formulation of a dual problem.</jats:p>\r\n
    \                 </jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:sec>\r\n                    <jats:title>Research
    limitations/implications</jats:title>\r\n                    <jats:p>The effectiveness
    of the different proposed methods is illustrated by an example of a perforated
    sheet for adaptive spatial refinement where new mesh adaptation methods of error
    representation are compared against existing mesh adaptation methods such as uniform
    mesh refinement, mesh refinement based on gradient indicators and adjoint-based
    methods in literature. The framework generates a balanced mesh consisting of fine,
    medium and coarse elements for accurate results, avoiding a numerically costly
    simulation with only fine elements.</jats:p>\r\n                  </jats:sec>\r\n
    \                 <jats:sec>\r\n                    <jats:title>Originality/value</jats:title>\r\n
    \                   <jats:p>All new proposed methods of error representation successfully
    estimate actual errors during mesh adaptivity. Furthermore, the proposed methods
    of error representation allow us to obtain significant reduction and equidistribution
    of spatial error at the end of the mesh adaptivity process. Their application
    to a framework of goal-oriented error estimation due to time and mesh adaptivity
    remains an open issue.</jats:p>\r\n                  </jats:sec>"

  text: The aging behavior of closed-cell polyurethane (PUR) foam, a material widely
    used in household refrigeration, is studied by examining the variation of cell
    gas composition and thermal conductivity over time. Aging is primarily driven
    by gas permeation, wherein the initially present cell gases carbon dioxide and
    cyclopentane are progressively replaced by nitrogen and oxygen from the ambient,
    resulting in an increased thermal conductivity and reduced insulation performance.
    The cell gas composition is measured over 1400 days employing gas chromatography,
    and the thermal conductivity of the foam is measured over 190 days. Morphological
    foam characteristics, such as average cell diameter, are determined via scanning
    electron microscopy and barrier measurements are performed to estimate the effective
    diffusion coefficient of oxygen. To simulate the aging process, one-dimensional
    and three-dimensional models are developed for both diffusive mass transfer as
    well as heat transfer. The present model for the thermal conductivity explicitly
    accounts for condensation effects, i.e. partial condensation of cyclopentane and
    carbon dioxide occurring at around 12°C, which significantly influences the insulation
    behavior of the foam. Sensitivity analyses indicate that an initial cell gas pressure
    of approximately 0.7 bar yields results that closely coincide with the experimental
    measurements, where the three-dimensional model demonstrates better accuracy.
    These measurements and simulations provide valuable insights for evaluating and
    predicting the long-term degradation of the insulation performance of PUR foams.

  text: "This paper deals with the development and results of a prediction framework
    for traffic light control systems as well as the usage and benefits of such predictions
    in green light optimal speed advisory (GLOSA) scenarios.\r\nVarious machine learning
    methods like support vector machines, neural networks or reinforcement learning
    were evaluated for their applicability in the prediction context and compared
    based on their efficiency and most importantly accuracy. The resulting prediction
    framework uses decision tree ensemble models combined with certain model knowledge
    to forecast different control strategies. This method was chosen due to its best
    performance in various test scenarios. Very high accuracy and fidelity were achieved
    for standard control methods like fixed-time, time-of-day-based and 'ordinary'
    traffic-based programs. Only for the more sophisticated model predictive control
    which was tested lower accuracies were achieved.\r\nFor the upcoming GLOSA application
    the penetration of equipped vehicles was varied for different traffic scenarios
    and control strategies. Results showcase high potentials for enhancing urban mobility
    and reducing environmental impact by lower emissions and waiting times. However,
    it is also clear from the studies presented in this contribution that the coordination
    of the control strategy with the GLOSA vehicles is of enormous importance."

  text: <jats:p>Carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRPs) have become increasingly
    significant in recent decades due to their remarkable mechanical properties and
    lightweight nature. This study aims to advance the understanding and simulation
    of CFRP behavior through the development of a hyperelastic-plastic-damage homogenization
    method combined with mean-field theory. The material responses of both the fiber
    and matrix are modeled using strain energy functions that account for damage evolution,
    while a complete linearization of the homogenization process is derived to ensure
    the consistent implementation of the Newton–Raphson iteration scheme in large
    deformation simulations. The innovative aspect of this work lies in the constitutive
    linearization for the hyperelastic-plastic-damage formulation within a mean-field
    homogenization framework, providing an efficient Newton algorithm for modeling
    the nonlinear behavior of CFRP. A failure criterion for the hyperelastic model
    of fibers is introduced, along with a damage saturation variable in rate form
    for the matrix, effectively capturing damage evolution. Through discrete formulations
    for the homogenization, the proposed model’s capability is demonstrated via three
    numerical examples and validated against experimental investigations, proving
    its effectiveness and reliability in simulating CFRP damage.</jats:p>

  text: Die effiziente Nutzung von Ressourcen ist in der modernen Produktentwicklung
    von zentraler Bedeutung, nicht nur im Hinblick auf Materialien, sondern auch angesichts
    des Fachkräftemangels. Dabei sollten menschliche Arbeitskräfte gezielt eingesetzt
    und unnötige Iterationen zwischen Abteilungen vermieden werden, wobei die Kommunikation
    zwischen Konstruktion und Berechnung eine entscheidende Rolle spielt. Im Rahmen
    dieser Arbeit wird eine Methode entwickelt, die es Konstrukteuren ermöglicht,
    mithilfe künstlicher neuronaler Netze schnell mechanisch optimierte Bauteilgeometrien
    vorzuschlagen und so Korrekturschleifen zu minimieren. Hierfür wird eine Entwicklungsumgebung
    analysiert, die die Integration neuronaler Netze in bestehende Konstruktions-
    und Optimierungsprozesse erlaubt, einschließlich der Definition von Eingaben,
    Ausgaben, Datenformaten, Datensätzen und Schnittstellen zu kommerzieller Software.
    Zur Sicher-stellung der generalisierten Nutzbarkeit der Trainingsdaten werden
    Bauteilgeometrien zunächst mithilfe geometrischer Primitive abstrahiert und anschließend
    zu Gesamtgeometrien zusammengesetzt. Die Machbarkeitsstudie zeigt, dass mechanisch
    optimierte Bauteilgeometrien auf diese Weise erfolgreich vorhergesagt werden können.
    Obwohl noch gewisse Einschränkungen bestehen hinsichtlich der Schnittstellendefinition
    zwischen den Primitiven oder der Umrechnung von globalen auf lokale Randbedingungen,
    bietet die Methode eine solide Grundlage für weiterführende Forschungsarbeiten
    in diesem Bereich.

    processes, such as distillation and stripping, are highly energy‐intensive. Typically,
    energy is supplied indirectly via a reboiler, which is often associated with heat
    losses. We present a preliminary theoretical evaluation of a novel concept to
    supply energy directly inside the column using heatable structured packings. These
    packings can be produced by multi‐material 3D printing, resulting in a conductive
    inner layer and an insulating outer layer. Functioning as electric resistance
    heaters, these packings serve as heating elements. In this numerical study, we
    compared different scenarios of energy supply along the height of the column,
    including uniform distribution, applying a temperature profile, and using or omitting
    a reboiler.</jats:p>"

  text: Established companies are undertaking major transformation initiatives of
    their corporate structures and organisational forms to cope with the complexity
    during the engineering of cyber-physical production systems (CPPS). A frequently
    discussed issue is the measurability of this transformation progress. This paper
    conducts a systematic literature analysis of approaches regarding measurability
    of transformation and evaluates their application in the context of a systems
    engineering transformation. Measure-ment criteria are derived from the identified
    approaches, categorised, and finally evaluated by industry experts regarding their
    applicability. The categorised measurement criteria can be used to accurately
    measure the progress of a transformation process.
