ermittelt.

text: To facilitate the growing demand for a universal means of digital identification
across services, while preserving user control and privacy, multiple digital identity
implementations have emerged. From a technical perspective, many of these rely
on established concepts within cryptography, allowing them to provide benefits
in terms of security and privacy. Recent legislation also promises broader recognition
and acceptance of digital identities, both in the digital world and beyond. However,
research into the usability, accessibility, and user understanding of digital
identities is rare. We argue that the development of usable digital identity wallets
is vital to the successful and inclusive application of digital identities in
society. In this vision paper, we describe our research plans for obtaining a
better understanding of how to develop these usable digital identities wallets.

text:
Abstract. Lightweight design is one of the central topics of the automotive
industry since reducing mass can save emissions over the entire life cycle of
a component. Nowadays, vehicle structures usually consist of a multi-material
design, which poses the additional challenge of joining these different materials.
Mechanical joining is the most common way of joining different types of materials.
Cast aluminium alloys of the AlSi system have a low ductility, which causes cracks
during the mechanical joining process in the joint. One research approach is to
achieve a fine microstructure by influencing the solidification rate since this
results in increased mechanical properties, specifically the elongation at fracture
and yield strength. A very fine microstructure can be achieved by utilizing Twin-roll
casting (TRC) which is a continuous casting process in which high solidification
rates of more than 100 K/s occur. In this study, the hypoeutectic cast aluminium
alloy AlSi9 is processed in the TRC process using copper rollers. The cast strips
are investigated regarding the microstructure-property correlation. A variation
of the roller materials and cooling conditions allows for an increase in the solidification
rate, whereby a defined, fine microstructure can be achieved, which enhances the
mechanical properties of the hypoeutectic aluminium casting alloys.

text:
Abstract. Twin-Roll-Casting (TRC) is an energy- and cost-efficient
process to produce near-net-shape aluminum strips. Due to the high affinity of
molten aluminum to steel surfaces, those rollers show signs of wear throughout
the rolling campaign. This leads to the necessity of restoring the worn surfaces
to suitable parameters. The easiest way is to grind the surface till all superficial
defects are omitted. However, the thickness of the roller is not endless, therefore
the rollers must be replaced after a certain amount of surface reconditioning.
This ultimately leads to the non-usability of the roller. This research shows
a route to recondition the surface including the possibility of renewing worn-down
surfaces with an energy- and cost-efficient high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) treatment
with subsequent grinding to the desired initial surface parameters.

(PCM) ausgestatteten, energietechnischen Komponenten anhand zweier Fallstudien.

text: This thesis explores the modeling and optimization of energy system components
incorporating phase change materials (PCM) through two different case studies.
PCM are materials whose phase change characteristics during melting and solidification
are utilized for heating and cooling purposes. The theoretical foundations of
heat transfer problems involving phase change, along with the relevant numerical
solution methods, are discussed. A phase change model is presented, which was
validated against analytical solutions and applied in the case studies. For both
case studies, a review of the state of the art is provided, followed by the formulation
of specific research problems. The first case study investigated PCM-enhanced
photovoltaic modules, while the second focused on packed bed latent heat storages
(PBLHS) utilizing non-spherical PCM capsules. Thermal models were developed for
both systems and validated with good accuracy against experimental data. These
models were employed in parameter studies to identify optimized system configurations.
The presented results demonstrate that a PCM heat sink with sufficient thickness
and thermal conductivity can significantly improve the efficiency and lifespan
of photovoltaic modules. Furthermore, PCM capsules with both high packing density
and surface area increase the volume-specific storage capacity and thermal power
output of PBLHS.

in modernen Kommunikationsnetzen.
(gewichteten) Graphen G := (V, E, ℓ), der durch k kürzeste Wege separiert werden
Unser Schema berechnet
Label der Größe Oe(kϵ−2) und wird in Oe(kϵ−3) Zeit im HYBRID-Modell, und Oe(kϵ−3·
HD) Zeit in CONGEST.

text: This thesis considers algorithmic solutions to problems that arise in the
theoretical study of modern communication networks, such ast he Internet. The
thesis is divided into two main parts. In the first part of this thesis, we show
how to construct an overlay network of degree O(log n) and diameter O(log n) in
O(log n) time starting from an arbitrary weakly connected graph. We assume a synchronous
communication network in which nodes can send messages to nodes they know the
identifier of, and new connections can be established by sending node identifiers.
If the initial network’s graph is weakly connected and has constant degree, then
our algorithm constructs the desired topology with each node sending and receiving
only O(log n) messages in each round in time O(log n), w.h.p. Since the problem
cannot be solved faster than by using pointer jumping for O(log n) rounds (which
would even require each node to communicate Ω(n) bits), our algorithm is asymptotically
optimal. Additionally, we show how our algorithm can be used to efficiently solvegraph
problems in the novel HYBRID model. Motivated by the idea that nodes possess two
different modes of communication, we assume that communication of the initial
edges is unrestricted, whereas only polylogarithmically many messages can be sent
over edges that have been established throughout an algorithm’s execution. For
an (undirected) graph G with arbitrary degree, we show how tocompute connected
components and a spanning forest in O(log n) time, w.h.p. Furthermore, we show
how to compute an MIS in timeO(log ∆ + log log n), w.h.p., where ∆ is the initial
degree of G. In the second part of the thesis, we consider the problems of computing
compact routing tables and low-diameter decompositions for a (weighted) graph
G := (V, E, ℓ) that can be separated through k shortest paths. This class of graphs
includes planar graphs, graphs of bounded treewidth, and graphs that exclude a
fixed minor Kr. We present algorithms in the CONGEST and the novel HYBRID communication
model that are competitive in all relevant parameters:• For a given parameter
ϵ > 0, we compute a routing scheme with stretch 1 + ϵ. Our scheme computes
labels of size Oe(kϵ−2)and is computed in Oe(kϵ−3) time in the HYBRID model and
Oe(kϵ−3· HD) time in CONGEST. Here, HD denotes thenetwork’s hop diameter.• Given
a parameter D > 0, our low-diameter decomposition algorithm divides the graph
into connected subgraphs of strongdiameter D. An edge e ∈ E of length ℓe has endpoints
in different subgraphs with probability O(ℓe·log(k log n)/D). The decomposition
can be computed in Oe(k) time in the HYBRID model and O˜(kHD) time in CONGEST.Broadly
speaking, we present distributed and parallel implementations of sequential divide-and-conquer
algorithms where we replaceexact shortest paths with approximate shortest paths.
In contrast to exact paths, these can be efficiently computed in the distributed
and parallel setting. Further, and perhaps more importantly, we show that instead
of explicitly computing vertex-separators to enable efficientparallelization of
these algorithms, it suffices to sample a few random paths of bounded length and
the nodes close to them. Finally, we present a SetCover algorithm in the Beeping
model. Our algorithm runs in O(k3) time and has an expected approximation ratio
ofO(∆3/k log2 ∆). The value k ∈ [3, log ∆] is a parameter that lets us trade runtime
for approximation ratio similar to the celebrated algorithm by Kuhn and Wattenhofer
[PODC ’03]. This algorithm can then be extended to effieciently solve the DominatingSet-problem
in a graph’s D-neigborhood in a distributed fashion.

text: Conventional mechanical joining processes are typically rigid in their tool
systems and can only react to changing process and disturbance variables to a
limited extent. At the same time, various industries are increasingly trending
towards multi-material systems consisting of parts with varying geometric and
mechanical properties. Due to the varying properties, rigid mechanical joining
processes require sampling procedures and periodic changes of tool components
or auxiliary joining parts. Consequently, research is focusing on versatile mechanical
joining processes that allow increased control by modifying the process parameters.
Two processes based on self-piercing riveting can achieve a significant increase
in process influence possibilities through a multi-linear actuator as versatile
self-piercing riveting (V-SPR) and a tumbling superimposed actuator as tumbling
self-piercing riveting (T-SPR). Initial research into V-SPR has shown that this
process can be used to achieve a higher variation in overall package thickness
by adapting the rivet geometry and using multiple linear actuators. The T-SPR
process also enables increased material flow control by means of targeted compression
of the rivet using the tumbling actuator, thereby extending the range of joints
that can be manufactured. Based on these two processes, a combination of the two
mechanisms of action is to be developed.

text: Abstract. Mechanical joints are traditionally analyzed through destructive
micrograph analysis, which may compromise internal geometry and morphology, as
evidenced by radial cracks in semi-tubular self-pierce riveting. In contrast,
industrial X-ray computed tomography (XCT) offers a non-destructive method for
component diagnosis, providing volumetric insights without damaging the sample
and enabling dimensional measurement. The DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center
TRR 285 is exploring XCT's application in assessing mechanical joinability across
various joining processes and materials, particularly in multi-material systems
like steel-aluminum joints. XCT faces challenges in accurately capturing multi-material
compositions, leading to artifacts that complicate interface detection. This research
aims to validate XCT for joint investigations, yielding quantitative characteristics
that surpass those from traditional micrograph analysis.

text: In the corporate context, knowledge management is an established field of
research and practice that aims to improve efficiency and competitiveness. In
civil emergency response organizations, on the other hand, there are considerable
deficits in the acquisition and transfer of knowledge, although there is great
dependence on empirical knowledge, too. This paper uses the example of the fire
department to analyze the reasons for this discrepancy and develops a concept
to anchor knowledge management in the fire department in the long term. A Germany-wide
survey of 577 firefighters revealed that digital administrative support is already
widespread, but that knowledge is primarily distributed by email, chat, verbally
or via paper. The participants seek for a knowledge management solution that provides
support during incients, training, as well as administrative work.Based on the
survey and a systematic literature review, the need for action was identified.
The areas of application and framework conditions, which are reflected in the
requirements for a knowledge management system, are based on this. The implementation
concept describes the system architecture of the solution, which is based on an
open-source wiki with suitable extensions. The central element is the ability
to share knowledge across organizational boundaries. The work concludes with a
demonstration and evaluation of the solution.

text: Pillow-plate heat exchangers (PPHEs) represent a viable alternative to conventional
shell-and-tube and plate heat exchangers. The waviness of their channels intensifies
fluid mixing in the boundary layers and facilitates heat transfer. Applying secondary
surface structuring can further enhance the overall thermo-hydraulic performance
of PPHEs, thus increasing their competitiveness against conventional heat exchangers.
In this work, streamlined secondary structures applied on the PPHE surface were
studied numerically to explore their potential in enhancing near-wall fluid mixing.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of single-phase turbulent flow
in the inner PPHE channel were performed and pressure drop, heat transfer coefficients,
and overall thermo-hydraulic efficiency were determined. The simulation results
clearly demonstrate a favourable influence of secondary structuring on the heat
transfer performance of PPHEs.

text: Heat pumps play a crucial role in decarbonizing the chemical industry. The
integration and sizing of heat pumps in chemical processes is a challenging task
in multi-product chemical processes due to the fluctuating waste heat supply and
heat demand. Integrating heat pumps may require a retrofit of the utility system.
Mathematical optimization is a useful tool to tackle this challenge by enabling
the analysis of correlation between relevant system parameters and equipment sizing.
This study demonstrates the utilization of mathematical optimization and parameter
studies for utility system equipment sizing addressing fluctuating heat supply
and demand profiles.

text:
Abstract
The incorporation of heteroatoms
into the framework of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), in particular of
nitrogen to yield polycyclic aromatic nitrogen heterocycles (PANHs), has been
proposed for both astronomical and combustion environments, but no suitable precursors
and pathways have been found. Analogous pathways to PAH formation are kinetically
or energetically inhibited in the presence of a nitrogen heteroatom. We report
on the reaction of phenylnitrene (3PhN, c‐C6H5N)

and find that the association reaction bifurcates depending on the orientation
of the attacking propargyl radical and yields multiple isomeric products. Among
them, we identify the condensed‐ring quinoline and conclude that nitrenes are
viable candidates to drive the formation of PANHs.

text:
This study investigates the occurrence and mitigation of liquid metal
embrittlement occurring during resistance spot welding in deep-drawn automotive
components, specifically focusing on an S-Rail made from advanced high-strength
steel. A simulation-based liquid metal embrittlement risk criterion based on local
major component stresses was established and used to quantify and compare liquid
metal embrittlement risks between different tests. Experimental and numerical
analyses were conducted, revealing that springback significantly impacts liquid
metal embrittlement formation. Adjustments in electrode geometry and hold time
post-welding were found to mitigate liquid metal embrittlement risks. The effects
of stack-up configuration and related parameter settings on liquid metal embrittlement
occurrence were identified and liquid metal embrittlement was effectively prevented
across both stack-up configurations. These findings advance the understanding
of liquid metal embrittlement mechanisms and provide practical approaches to enhance
the spot weld quality in AHSS-based body-in-whites.
