text: At first sight the direct costs of Additive Manufacturing (AM) seem too high
in comparison to traditional manufacturing. Considering the whole lifecycle costs
of parts changes the point of view. Due to the modification of the new production
process and new supply chains during a parts lifecycle, producing companies can
strongly benefit from AM. Therefore, a costing model for assessing lifecycle costs
with regard to specific applications and branches has been developed. The costing
model represents the advantages of AM monetarily. For the evaluation of this model
and the influence factors, different case studies have been performed including
different approaches in part redesign. Deeper research is and will be carried
out with respect to the AM building rates and the comparability of various AM
machines, as these facts are hardly comparable for end users. This paper will
present the methodology and some results of the case studies conducted over the
    whole product lifecycle.

text: Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) parts are typically subject to process-related
rough or wavy surfaces, with stair-stepping effects whenever the parts produced
have sloped or rounded part geometries; however, the level of optical quality
frequently required demands that parts feature a smooth surface. In this paper,
the results of a high-energy finishing process, which uses a disc finishing unit
and is designed for parts manufactured with the material Ultem*9085, are presented.
The analysis discusses the surface-smoothing effect of various finishing materials
with varying geometries, as well as the effect of finishing time and speed. Additionally,
the efficiency of the surface treatment has been analyzed specifically at corners,
    edges and in cavities.

text: One of the main ideas of Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) is the delivery
of flexibly composable services provided on world-wide markets. For a successful
service discovery, service requests have to be matched with the available service
offers. However, in a situation in which no service that completely matches the
request can be discovered, the customer may tolerate slight discrepancies between
request and offer. Some existing fuzzy matching approaches are able to detectsuch
service variants, but they do not allow to explicitly specify which parts of a
request are not mandatory. In this paper, we improve an existing service matching
approach based onVisual Contracts leveraging our preliminary work of design pattern
detection. Thereby, we support explicit specifications of service variants and
realize gradual matching results that can be ranked in order to discover the service
offer that matches a customer’s request best.

text: The maintenance of component-based software systems requires up-to-date models
of their concrete architecture, i.e. the architecture that is realised in the
source code. These models help in systematically planning, analysing and executing
typical reengineering activities. Often no or only outdated architectural models
of such systems exist. Therefore, various reverse engineering methods have been
developed which try to recover a system's components, subsystems and connectors.
However, these reverse engineering methods are severely impacted by design deciencies
in the system's code base, especially violations of the component encapsulation.
As long as design deciencies are not considered in the reverse engineering process,
they reduce the quality of the recovered component structures. Despite this impact
of design deciencies, no existing architecture reconstruction approach explicitly
integrates a systematic deciency detection and removal into the recovery process.
Therefore, I have developed Archimetrix. Archimetrix is a tool-supported architecture
reconstruction process. It enhances a clustering-based architecture recovery approach
with an extensible, pattern-based deciency detection. After the detection of deciencies,
Archimetrix supports the software architect in removing the de ciencies and provides
the means to preview the architectural consequences of such a removal. I also
provide a process to identify and formalise additional deciencies. I validated
the approach on three case studies which show that Archimetrix is able to identify
relevant deciencies and that the removal of these deciencies leads to an increased
quality of the recovered architectures, i.e. they are closer to the corresponding
    conceptual architectures.

text: 'Dynamic Meta Modeling (DMM) is a semantics specification technique targeted
at MOF-based modeling languages, where a language''s behavior is defined by means
of graphical operational rules which change runtime models. The DMM approach has
first been suggested by Engels et al. in 2000; Hausmann has then defined the DMM
language on a conceptual level within his PhD thesis in 2006. Consequently, the
next step was to bring the existing DMM concepts alive, and then to apply them
to different modeling languages, making use of the lessons learned to improve
the DMM concepts as well as the DMM tooling. The result of this process is the
DMM++ method, which is presented within this thesis. Our contributions are three-fold:
First, and according to our experiences with the DMM language, we have introduced
new concepts such as refinement by means of rule overriding, and we have strengthened
existing concepts such as the dealing with universally quantified structures or
attributes. Second, we have developed a test-driven process for semantics specification:
A set of test models is created, and their expected behavior is fixed. Then, the
DMM rules are created incrementally, finally resulting in a DMM ruleset realizing
at least the expected behavior of the test models. Additionally, we have defined
a set of coverage criteria for DMM rulesets which allow to measure the quality
of a set of test models. Third, we have shown how functional as well as non-functional
requirements can be formulated against models and their DMM specifications. The
former is achieved by providing a visual language for formulating temporal logic
properties, which are then verified with model checking techniques, and by allowing
for visual debugging of models failing a requirement. For the latter, the modeler
can add performance information to models and analyze their performance properties,
    e.g. average throughput.'

text: 'A piezoelectric cantilever beam with a tip mass at its free end is a common
energy harvester configuration. This article introduces a new principle of designing
such a harvester that increases the generated power without changing the resonance
frequency of the harvester: the attraction force between two permanent magnets
is used to add stiffness to the system. This magnetic stiffening counters the
effect of the tip mass on the efficient operation frequency. Five set-ups incorporating
piezoelectric bimorph cantilevers of the same type in different mechanical configurations
are compared theoretically and experimentally to investigate the feasibility of
this principle: theoretical and experimental results show that magnetically stiffened
harvesters have important advantages over conventional set-ups with and without
tip mass. They generate more power while only slightly increasing the deflection
in the piezoelectric harvester and they can be tuned across a wide range of excitation
    frequencies.'

text: Power and bandwidth of piezoelectric harvesters can be increased by using
multiple piezoelectric elements in one harvester. In this contribution, a novel
energy harvesting cantilever array with magnetic tuning including three piezoelectric
bimorphs is investigated theoretically and experimentally, with a good agreement
between model and experiment. Other than harvester designs proposed before, this
array is easy to manufacture and insensitive to manufacturing tolerances because
its optimum operation frequency can be re-adjusted after fabrication. Using the
superposition principle, the Butterworth-Van Dyke model and a mechanical lumped
parameters model, the generated voltage and current are determined analytically.
Formulas for calculating the power generated by array harvesters with an arbitrary
number of piezoelectric elements connected in series or in parallel are derived.
It is shown that optimum harvester design must take both the connected load and
the operating frequency into account. Strategies for connecting multiple bimorphs
to increase the maximum generated power and/or enhance the bandwidth compared
to a single bimorph harvester are investigated. For bandwidth enhancement it is
essential that individual rectifiers are used for the bimorphs. An example with
three bimorphs shows that, depending on the chosen tuning strategy, the power
is increased by about 340\% or the bandwidth is increased by about 500\%, compared
    to one single bimorph.

text: 'A basic autonomous system powered by a piezoelectric harvester contains three
components apart from the harvester: a fullwave rectifier, a reservoir capacitor
and an electronic device performing the primary task of the system. In this contribution,
a model describing the operation of such a system is derived. It is found that
in steady-state operation, the piezoelectric harvester experiences two alternating
load conditions due to the rectification process. These alternating load conditions
can have a significant effect on the operation of the harvester and must be considered
in the design of autonomous systems. The results also show that such an autonomous
system works efficiently if it is connected to a high impedance load and excited
by a frequency matching the anti-resonance frequency of the piezoelectric harvester.'

text: A model approach for wedge/wedge bonding copper wire is presented. The connection
between wire and substrate is based on a variety of physical effects, but the
dominant one is the friction based welding while applying ultrasound. Consequently,
a friction model was used to investigate the welding process. This model is built
up universal and can be used to describe the formation of micro welds in the time
variant contact area between wire and substrate. Aim of the model is to identify
the interactions between touchdown, bond normal force, ultrasonic power and bonding
time. To do so, the contact area is discretized into partial areas where a Point
Contact Model is applied. Based on this approach it is possible to simulate micro
and macro slip inside the contact area between wire and substrate. The work done
by friction force is a main criterion to define occurring micro joints which influence
    the subsequent welding.

text: 'Ultrasonic wire bonding is a common technology for manufacturing electrical
interconnects. In the field of power electronics, new thermal and electrical obligations
arose due to increasing power density requirements. One approach to achieve these
aims is replacing the wire material for heavy wire bonds from aluminum to copper.
This material change leads to challenging tasks and problems, for instance the
occurring wear of the bond tool. The wear is significantly higher using copper
wire instead of aluminum and results in a dramatic loss in the amount of interconnects
which can be produced reliable by a single tool. To reduce setting-up time in
the production and minimizing costs, an enlarged bonding tool lifetime is desirable.
Therefore, the paper discusses the influences of bonding parameters on the wear.
The key question is which of the tasks cannot be fulfilled with increased wear
of the tool, e.g. loss of process capability. The main functions are fixing the
wire in the tool groove, predeformation, applying normal force and transmission
of ultrasonic oscillation to the wire. To identify the most affecting factors,
four bonding parameters are varied and their influences are investigated. These
parameters are: (I) ultrasonic power, (II) tool geometry, (III) the way of tangential
force transmission and (IV) loop trajectory.'

text: It has been shown previously that ``slip-slip'' operation of piezoelectric
inertia motors allows higher velocities and smoother movements than classic ``stick-slip''
operation. One very promising driving option is to use a superposition of multiple
sinusoidal signals. In this contribution, previous theoretical results are validated
experimentally. The results confirm the theoretical result that for a given maximum
frequency, usually defined by the actuator characteristics, a signal with high
fundamental frequency and consisting of two superposed sine waves leads to the
highest velocity and the smoothest motion. This result is of fundamental importance
for the further development of high-velocity piezoelectric inertia motors.
